Everything! My request for a view of the city was met and we could see the river boats, cathedral and 2 beautiful churches from our window (Room 121).
The location just opposite the pedestrian bridge to town was superb and the availability of free parking in the little road along the river was a real bonus. We did make the mistake of trying to check in to the other Ibis on the corner of the vehicle bridge but were directed further down the river to IBIS budget. Budget it may be in name but in terms of quality and value for money, it did not seem like a budget hotel. Breakfast was excellent with a great choice of continental breakfast items and drinks. Great value and set us up for the day. There seems to be a Leclerc behind the hotel for anyone who prefers breakfast on the go.
Restaurants are available on the other side of the pedestrian bridge (we had less choice as it was Sunday, but we're used to that living in France). If you're not mobility challenged as my OH is, a walk up to the old town and square gives you a wider choice of eateries.
The Cathedral is magnificent and a must see. We need to re visit to see more. We had our electric scooters with us. Great for down the lovely river with all its boats but not for the hilly old town .
Finally, thanks and well done to the team at this great hotel Ibis. We will definitely be back and have already recommended you as the place to stay in beautiful Auxerre!

But as a word of warning re parking (we assume receptionist didn't know this). We parked in the free car park and checked it was free but then on returning for our electric scooters, we were told by a lady who was setting up barriers in part of the car park, that if we didn't move our car to a different space, our car would be towed away the next morning (Monday) at 8am. Luckily we were able to move our car before that happened. Still not sure what the barriers were for as by lunchtime on the Monday as we left, there was no evidence of an event on the car park. Maybe a one off??

The location is perfect if your intention is to visit the Auxerre city center.
The beds sucked. Incredibly hard mattresses and underneath is not a soft boxspring, but a hard, inflexible slatted base.
We intended on staying for three night, but left the hotel immediately after one night and sore backs.
