THE XENIA in Windham The many famous reasons for visiting Windham in the Catskill Mountains are all within short driving distances from this spacious, quiet and private mountain home. Whether hiking, bicycling, strolling to the neighbor's animal farm, skiing, hunting, seeking nature at its best or just relaxing and rejuvenating, you will enjoy the serenity of our idyllic location. This family get away is situated on a 5.5 acre private land with forest, and a huge well groomed lawn for kids of all ages to enjoy. There is a fire pit with a picnic table for your entertainment, and an outdoor Jacuzzi, along with all the amenities that the house has to offer. You can find year round activities to venture in or simply enjoy the privacy of the house with the company of your friends and family. 'The Xenia' is within moments, (5 min) to the famous Windham Mountain Ski Resort, and 15 minutes to the more challenging Hunter Mountain Ski and picturesque Hunter village. Windham is ideal for the golf lovers, with its Country Club's 18-hole golf course. You can also stroll along Main Street, browsing at a variety of antique stores, fine art galleries and exquisite restaurants and bars. There are mountain trails for bicycling, hiking, and snowmobiling just 10 minutes away, including the famous Windham High Peak - Burnt Knob Loop. River fishing, and swimming is just 30 minutes away at Kaaterskill Creek with its famous swimming holes. Nearby you can also find the Zoom Flume water park, and the Windham Adventure Park with its rock-climbing, Bungee trampoline, Paintballing and Skateboarding. You can find horseback riding farms and petting animal farms nearby. A scenic driving distance, (30 min) to historic and artistic town of Hudson, passing through the famous Rip Van Winkle bridge over breathtaking views of Hudson River, can satisfy anyone's artistic skills in photography and antiquing. 'The Xenia' is a retreat for all tastes. The spacious entertainment and gaming room has an 8.5' pro billiard table, a ping pong table, a game table for cards and board games, a 50' flat screen TV with satellite and Blu-ray with a 5.1 channel surround sound system, as well as an in-ceiling stereo system for blasting your favorite tunes. There is a WIFI connection throughout the house with blazing speeds. For those cold winter days there is also a cast iron wood-burning stove. The house features a fully equipped large kitchen with cookware and utensils, including spices, condiments, and even an array of teas and coffees. It includes an eat-in dinning set, microwave, toaster, Panini press, coffee maker, cappuccino/espresso maker, hand mixer, and a small food processor. The spacious dining area seats 10. The large French door opens to a deck with a gas grill and a dining set for enjoying your meals 'al fresco' style. After all, this is the reason for your stay, to breath fresh air, and the aromas of the forest that surrounds you. There are three full bathrooms: one in the master suite on the first floor with a whirlpool and a shower cabin, one in the first floor hallway with a bathtub/shower, and one on the second floor with a shower cabin. Every bathroom is supplied with a hair dryer, hand soap and towels. There are four bedrooms in the house: The master bedroom features a queen size bed, a sofa and a His and Hers bathroom with a hydro massage bathtub. The second bedroom has a queen size bed. The third bedroom has a queen size bed and a day bed with trundle. The fourth bedroom has two twin beds and a day bed with trundle. There is also a sitting area on the second floor that has a queen size sofa futon that converts into a bed. In that same seating area there is a TV and an office with a desktop computer and a printer. We even supply the paper! We supply all the linens too! Two more twin mattresses can be made available upon request. There is plenty of space in the three living rooms to relax, hang out, watch TV, or read a book, while the kids play in the entertainment room. The XENIA, (hospitality in Greek) is the perfect retreat. Just pack a few things and go. We take care of all the rest. We wish you an unforgettable stay!!!

I am one of the guests who stayed at the house for the MLK weekend. The house is clean and spacious (even with 11 people). The reason I gave a 3-Star is relating to the garbage disposal. After we moved in, got a text message that “garbage is our responsibility”. The waste area is about 1.5 miles away. We brought the garbage to the waste area but found that it was CLOSED for MLK Day. We drove around to look for alternative sites with NO success. Finally, the manager said we could leave the garbage in the house. It was such a hassle to load the garbage from the house into the car, and to drop off at a location outside the premises. The worst part is that the garbage smell stayed with your car!!! Who would want to deal with garbage removal during vacation! I don’t understand why the cleaning fee being charged does not include garbage removal. It would have been a more seamless process if the garbage removal were included in the cleaning fee. - FC

Check in was easy. The property is sizeable and the house is spacious. There is lots of comfortable furniture. The kitchen is full of pots, pans, and appliances. The spice cabinet is well-stocked. The hot tub easily fit 6 grown men, soaking up to our necks. Very nice!

We had a great time at the Xenia with the family for President's Day Weekend. The home had plenty of space and all of the amenities as shown in the listing. The kitchen was fully stocked, clean and functioning. The appliances, TV, HVAC and all amenities were good to go! We had plenty of blankets, towels, and other comforts. Of course, the location was also great (just 6 min drive to Windham Mountain). The hosts were responsive and hospitable. Highly recommend!!

The house is super comfortable and very big. plenty of towels and linens. lots of beds too for families. Easy to get to the mountain (8min drive) too.
the only reason not to give 5 stars is simply because it's a little bit older than some other houses we have stayed at.
with that said - a great family room with huge TV. Pool Table, table tennis table and very nice hottub.
We had a major snafu while we were there as we accidentally locked ourselves out of the house completely. The host dealt with the issue very calmly and was extra helpful and available by phone immediately. He sent somebody to open up for us while suggesting we went a warmed up in a nearby bar in town. We obliged and he let us know when everything was sorted out.
Brilliant for families and kids (4yrs+ probably as there are stairs).
We all had plenty of space and were very happy.

The experience at this property was everything we needed it to be. There was great outdoor space for games, a fire, and some hot tub soaking. The bedrooms were neat, clean, and very comfortable. The kitchen was wonderful and large, ideal for cooking to feed a group of 14 people. All new appliances including a smooth running washer/dryer, dishwasher, oven, and gas grill.
I would 10/10 recommend this for groups looking for a space to relax and socialize, or even a family looking for a weekend out of the city were green space and clean air are abundant.

The house was large enough for everyone to feel comfortable. The game room downstairs kept our small child occupied. Overall a good experience!

We had a very pleasant stay at the Xenia. Chris and Roula communicated all expectations upfront and were prompt to answer questions, as well as send some over to look at an issue with the washing machine and living room tv. Kitchen was well stocked, lots of linens/towels, extra fans, and lots of room both inside and out for our two young kids to play. The only minor suggestion is for the cleaning crew- not sure if we were the first to stay in awhile, but there were quite a few cob webs inside and dead spiders. Didn’t bother us, as everything else was very nicely maintained and it’s easy enough to sweep up. Heads up for anyone that stays, Chris and Roula are very clear in that all trash is your responsibility as the renter. However, I interpreted separating trash from recycling as that. When I got to the waste center, I had to unbag recycling and put all plastics, cardboard, cans, bottles, etc in separate recycle bins throughout the waste center drop off yard. If you want to save time, keep it separate at the house so you can simply leave each recycle type in the correct area at the waste center. A large black bag of trash (held three bags of kitchen trash) was $4 to dispose of.

Another great weekend!
This is our second time here and had another great weekend. Last visit we skied Windham. This trip Hunter. Great location and house is so comfy and cozy. We enjoyed it just as much as last time.

Loved the basement and game room. The kitchen was great to cook and serve our party. The hot tub was great but seemed like it wasn't as clean as we would have liked. It would have been nice of they mentioned that the garbage had to be separated into bottles, cans, and plastic. Also garbage had to be paid for at the dump.

We loved our stay at this beautiful home during our ski trip to Windham Mountain! We were a party of 7 and we had plenty of room, bedrooms, and places to comfortably relax during our extended weekend. Everything was very clean and lovely. Roula and Chris's attention to every detail in the home did not go unnoticed. The kitchen was well stocked, and we loved having a big dining room table where we could all sit together comfortably for meals and game night. Having 3 full bathrooms was a plus, and each of them was stocked with plenty of towels. The bedrooms were all very comfortable and there were extra blankets and pillows if anyone needed them. My teenage boys were thrilled with the ping-pong and the pool tables; and they along with my husband, thoroughly enjoyed using the hot tub. The communication with the owners was excellent. During our stay a leak sprung under the kitchen sink. It was late (after 10pm) when we noticed it while cleaning up after dinner. We reached out to Roula and within minutes, she let us know a plumber would be there in the morning. The plumber came, fixed the problem, and all was well before breakfast. If you go for a ski trip, the house is only a 10 minute drive to the mountain. It snowed every night during our stay, but it never caused an issue. A service came to clean the driveway and home entrances, and the roads to the house were always well maintained. Overall, we had an excellent stay and would love to come back again next winter. We truly felt at home! Thank you Roula and Chris for the excellent hospitality.

We loved our stay at this beautiful home during our ski trip to Windham Mountain! We were a party of 7 and we had plenty of room, bedrooms, and places to comfortably relax during our extended weekend. Everything was very clean and lovely.

We just returned from a weekend at this lovely house. So needed during this confinement! House was perfectly cleaned, great amenities and linens. Close to town and mountain- perfect location. Hosts answered questions instantly when needed. Highly recommend this house, it was everything we needed to enjoy a long weekend together in a wonderful setting!

Perfect getaway weekend!
We stayed at this property for 2 nights , 4 adults and 1 child. The property had everything we needed and more - the games room and hot tub were great! Plenty of space inside and out! Great location!

NOT pet friendly
This was a nice house in a good location with lots of amenities. Although a cleaning staff had come through the property earlier in the day prior to us checking in, we needed to clean multiple things ourselves (esp. the jacuzzi). Additionally, the listing says pet friendly but then after you book and pay, the owners tell you that pets must be kept out of the living areas with pet gates and kept in the basement. This was just one rule of many (2+ A4 pages), which were posted in every room of the house.
