A cottage to relax

The cottage is situated outside the village of Utsjoki, near a river, that was frozen. It was well equipped with a fireplace and a sauna. It was very quiet and peaceful. There was a tower to look for the Northern lights and we were lucky to see magnificent auroras.

We loved our cozy house, the area and views around. The house was well equipped towels, hairdryer, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds. Reindeers come near to houses. We are very satisfied with this place and recommend visiting it.

Great countryside retreat

Relaxed atmosphere, extra on offer such as bikes, fire pits, cabin facilities. Deer running past.

Confusing naming made it a little difficult to find.

Amazing cabin

Easy access to Norway, great viewpoint for northern lights from inside the cabin and from the viewing tower. Free use of the kota for outdoor cooking, free use of the snow gear and equipment. We had everything in the kitchen we needed, more than enough wood for the fireplace, smart TV, sauna and washing machine. Beds were comfortable and the cabin is private Owners were very helpful throughout our stay and your definitely visit their craft store for souvenirs to take home

We really enjoyed our stay at Lomatärppi and would highly recommend it.

Our cabin was very well equipped. There’s also plenty of outdoor equipment such as skis, snow shoes and warm outdoor clothing available. The location was great, not far from the town, shops, cafe etc, but we liked being a little way from town. The host was exceptionally friendly and helpful. There’s also a restaurant right below the property. The scenery is amazing in Utsjoki and we enjoyed the remoteness of it. We saw northern lights on two of our five nights at Lomatärppi.

We didn't expect it to be this beautiful, it was an extraordinary experience. There were breathtaking views from the windows and outside in general. We got lucky and saw a family or deer walking right past our window! Everything was clean and tidy, outside there was also snow equipment like boots and clothes of all sizes, sleighs, ski's, ice skates etc. Near the equipment shed there was also a Northern light tower where you are able to get an amazing view of the aurora. There was a community fireplace where you get to meet new people, start a fire and have some food! Overall, I will definitely be going again!

A memorable visit to the top of the world!

The peaceful and stunningly beautiful winter landscapes of the journey from Ivalo and the location itself, the modern and well-equipped cottage, and the genuine warmth, care and attention from owner, family & local Sami people, ensured that my trip to Lomatarppi in Utsjoki will be treasured for many years. The text alerts to go see the aurora in the sky above Utsjoki, from the purpose-built viewing tower were useful plus I had a most enjoyable visit to meet a local family and their reindeer and snowmobile.

Unfortunately, there's always a need to leave, but a return trip with family and friends is assured.

One perfect getaway

The stay was absolutely perfect! We really enjoyed the apartment and the whole holiday village. Juha was a perfect host. We especially loved the sauna and the fireplace, as well as the magnificent river view!

Beautiful cabin, family owned business, best holiday of my life

If I could give this place 20/10 I would, everything was just perfect! Location, cabin, Juha and the family, everything was free to use (sled, ski gear, warm clothes). I am definitely returning and would recommend staying here to everyone

A beautiful place to have your home when exploring Lapland.

The cabin and the surrounding area was beautiful. Big windows to see the river and a big patio to have your morning coffee in the fresh air. The host was very welcoming and friendly and helped us quite a bit in arranging activities.

The heater in the sauna didn’t work properly. Car/bike is needed to access the local town.

Perfect place for a holiday with great hosts

Breakfast not included, Location was perfect in a nice quite place. Living room window and front door facing Norway on the other side of river

The connecting road from main road to cottages (nearly 220-300 mtr) should be maintained better. They need to keep bigger equipment to keep that road clean from snow and slush

Best place up north with excellent facilities.

The location, modern facilities, spacious rooms, sauna, heating and staff. Free bonfire room, ski equipment etc were great. Got to see Northern lights from the heated living room sitting next to the fireplace.

Very cozy cabin with nice fireplace and sauna. If I ever was in the region, I'd stay there again.

Superb

It was warm even in the cold winter, and the overall atmosphere was pleasant. Best of all, there was a fireplace and the atmosphere was even better.

I liked everything. It felt like the host was doing the job from the bottom of his heart. The location could not be better. The kitchen had all the equipments we needed. We also tried the barbecue hut. Parking lot was big enough for two cars. I’m sure we will visit again. Highly recommended!
