Sandaway Suites & Beach

My girlfriend and I were lucky enough to get upgraded to there best cottage/suite for our anniversary. We had the most relaxing and lovely time hanging out by the water and taking in the beautiful views off the Oxford coastline. They provided us with many complimentary snacks, water, and had full service coffee on demand. The room we stayed in was the Chesapeake suite and it was unreal. Perfect for any romantic occasion or weekend getaway.

I liked the fresh brewed coffee at my door each day. I loved the view from our room (103) and I loved sitting outside in the Adirondack chairs, watching the sunset every evening. The weather was perfect for an October birthday.

Not a lot of restaurants nearby or choices for food venues. But we went to Docs because it was really our only option, and the food was good.

If you are looking to recharge or enjoy a weekend away as a couple or just by yourself in a quiet, historic waterfront town, I found out a great getaway recommendation. It is perfect for anyone who appreciates a peaceful, vintage setting that has preserved its heritage. We stayed at a historic hotel founded in 1875 (that's what it says on the landmark, so I'm just guessing), which is filled with beautiful antique decor. The staff was remarkably warm, kind, and attentive from the moment we arrived until we left.

My wife and I stayed at Sandaway Suites & Beach for Ironman Maryland 2026 and loved our stay! Ben, the owner, was such a lovely host and made our stay extra memorable. The property is gorgeous and at the end of a pennisula in Oxford. The sunset each night was beautiful, and the property has lots of seating so you can enjoy the sunset views. You can also swim from the beach and enjoy the bay. The owners deliver a cute basket of breakfast goodies and fresh coffee every morning. They even had good gluten-free treats for my wife who is celiac. Also, they incredibly left out a basket post-Ironman race with snacks and electrolytes, which was an incredibly sweet gesture. The room had a gorgeous view of the water, the bathroom had a great tub for a post-race soak, and the bed was very comfy. We also enjoyed our morning coffee on our little screened-in porch. The town of Oxford was also very cute. We enjoyed walking to the local coffee spot in the morning and the ice cream shop after dinner. The Ironman logistics: it is about a 28-30min drive from Sandaway to Ironman Village. Our room had a microwave and a small fridge for meal prep. There isn't much in terms of groceries in Oxford, but there's plenty in Cambridge. There was only one restaurant open in Oxford in September so dining options were limited but we enjoyed Doc's. Great views, good food, and even options for carb loading and my celiac wife.

The rooms are a bit older in terms of style, but it was very quaint and comfortable.
