About this castle / palace rental
Nestled in Volente, this charming castle / palace for $495 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. PLEASE NOTE: WE ONLY BOOK VIA VRBO. THIS IS A VERY POPULAR PLACE TO RENT, WHICH IS PRONE FOR SCAMS. Come spend your vacation at Captain Jay's Castle on a private, always deep water Lake Travis cove with amazing sunsets year-round ! Lake Travis is not a constant level lake therefore the private floating dock is moved according to lake levels and accessing lake may be more challenging when water is lower but cove is always deep and swimmable! Accessibility may be difficult for young children and those with mobility issues. It’s great for fossil hunting! Our private dock has a pontoon boat and jet ski for rent (lowest price and best maintained in area) and is well lit at night to enjoy sitting right on the water. Kayaks, paddle boards, and other water toys are available to enjoy at no extra charge. The cove is a local popular fishing spot so anglers bring your gear. The Castle has 3 large bedrooms with in suite bathrooms, a 1/2 bath downstairs as well as an open sleeping area upstairs with a trundle and full sized bed. Bedrooms: King-downstairs, 2 bedrooms upstairs- one with queen and one with 2 queens. In keeping with the uniqueness of this home, there are 2 walk-in closets with bunkbeds and pocket doors for extra sleeping. Air mattresses also available for larger parties. Our per night pricing is for 8 guests, additional overnight guests will be charged 50.00 per night. We love well behaved pets but there will be charge a 50.00 per pet, per visit. Our 2.75 acre lot has plenty of room to roam. There is a beautiful large stone patio with fire pit to entertain or just relax at sunset. There are two large decks as well as a rooftop to enjoy dinner and lake and sunset views. Our property is Wildlife Certified; many beautiful water and land birds to observe as well as country critters so please do not leave food out at night and bring appropriate footwear. Responsible parties are welcome. We take great pride in keeping the grounds and house clean and we ask our guest to do the same upon their departure. Removing sheets and towels and placed in the laundry room is much appreciated. Day Use: for additional guests accessing the property but not staying over there will be an extra $10.00 per person charge. For security and liability we must be informed of any extra guests on the property. We like to greet our guests and provide a tour of the house and grounds upon arrival. Owner lives on the property in a separate house with several small dogs. While we will not disturb our guests, we do make ourselves available 24hrs if our guests need help or have any questions. There is a tenant downstairs, Chico, who has a boating excursion business who you may see coming and going and also helps with guests when needed. There are plenty of paper products and games along with full washer and dryer in laundry room, as well as extra beach towels and sunscreen. Kitchen is stocked with spices and condiments, dishes, utensils, cups, and coffee pots (one is Keurig - bring your own pods). We have three fire pits, Large Life Tyme BBQ Smoker (vertical stack), and two gas propane grills as well as some charcoal grills. There is a 90" TV in living room with plenty of streaming services and high-speed WiFi We are located directly across Starnes Island, close to VIP Marina and Volente Water Park & Beachside Billy’s. party boats available at the Marina with easy boat loading access. Listen to live music Friday and Saturday nights coming from Beachside Billy's or take a stroll over for dinner and music. We are only 10 minutes from The Oasis restaurant, 20 minutes to Lakeway & Mansfield Dam, and less than an hour to downtown Austin, Uber is available. In the event we have a quick turn around, extra cleaning fees might be applied if castle is not picked up properly. Inquire about these opportunities on the property. We absolutely loved staying in the castle, it’s perfect! Jeff is the owner/host and he was very kind and informative. My family and I truly enjoyed waking up to the gorgeous views. We can’t wait to book again this summer!

Great location, and Jeff was great. Flexible and we had a great time kayaking out to the island. Would recommend this place for families or groups with 6-10 people. Kitchen and grills were great too!

The host was very helpful and available. Castle and all the decor was a hit with the kids. Lake is a short walk down the hill and he even took us out on his boat to tour the lake and anchor for some drinks and a swim. We just had to pay a captain fee for his time. We had an enjoyable Spring Break and would recommend the place.

This is our 2nd time staying with Jeff, and as always it was 5 star experience, breathing views, boat, paddle boarding, floating pads , grills , potato gun was the biggest entertainment for our kids. All this been offered and we have used every single amenities .

Amazing location on the lake with an old school Austin vibe. Accommodations fit our group perfectly. There was plenty of room for our 31 foot Sea Ray at the dock.
Jeff took care of us like family, if we needed something or had a question we called Jeff and bingo it was done.

Our host Jeff was awesome, friendly, accommodating for ALL our needs, anything we asked for he was there.
This castle is very different with all the decor and such but really didn’t dig to much, was mostly on the water and back and top decks.
The sunset is something to see. I know, I know a sunset is just a sunset, can be seen anywhere but on the top of this castle with no obstructions is magical.

This place was excellent for our bachelor party group. The property seems to have been purpose-built for having fun. The view is unrivalled. The unique décor and many amenities are eclectically curated and add to the experience. The host Jeff was very laid back and extremely helpful. I could tell he really wanted us to have a good experience, and he was successful. I definitely know where to plan any future lakeside get togethers. Thanks for a great weekend!

Jeff's place has some of the best views of Lake Travis around. The pictures don't do it justice. It's a fun and funky place and Jeff's hospitality is truly unparalleled. He was inviting and relaxed which made us feel comfortable and at ease for a super fun weekend away.

Awesome place filled with fun decor and a huge deck overlooking the lake. The space is wonderful, each room has its own feel with bits from around Austin and various eclectic items as decor. We had a small band play in the living room and it worked out perfectly. The deck is enormous, with lots of benches and chairs for hanging out looking over the lake. The owner Jeff was amazing. He promptly answered any questions we had and gave us a tour of the place when we checked in. If we had any issues we could just text or call him. It was too cold while we were there to take advantage of the large astroturf area with fire pit closer to the lake or to head out onto the water in one of the kayaks, but next time ;) Definitely recommend this for a fun time on lake Travis or just hanging out.

The property is truly unique in a great way. The home feels comfortable with a great open kitchen and living area for hanging out. Three levels of outdoor lounging space to enjoy the lake view. As well as comfortable sleeping areas and well maintained bathrooms to sustain a larger group if needed. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to friends or family.

The Castle had everything you want and far more. Jeff was a great host and the property is amazing and in a perfect location. The views of the lake and sunsets rival that of the Oasis. It's has everything you could possibly want for a friend or family gathering including cornhole on the deck overlooking the lake, a boat dock, and boat and jet skis for rent. I highly recommend it!

I really hope to hear back from you soon! My 50th birthday was ruined. Dog poop on the floor, non working refrigerator/stove/microwave, back door did not lock, dirty beds and the list could go on. We unpacked and “tried” to make the best of the weekend—until we had to listen to the property owner and another man screaming at each other over night where 5 out of the 8 women were refusing to stay another minute. We bought $500 worth of groceries to make a huge birthday feast and cake…..both ruined due to refrigerator not getting cold and stove not working properly to bake.

This place is quite literally a castle :) the house has more than enough accommodations for the guests. The house was very clean and there was plenty of resources (toilet paper, trash bags, napkins, etc). A special surprise was the amount of fun costume gear they had. We were there for a bachelorette party and love taking pictures and making videos so the costume gear made it extra fun. There is also a ton of board games! The kitchen is well equipped with plates, cups, bowls, cooking ware, etc. The outside decks are super private and have a wonderful view of the lake. You can’t beat those sunsets! The private dock is huge and they have floaties and lily pads so you can hang in the lake. If there is anything wrong with the house the owners are right next door and are very responsive so reach out and they’ll take care of it immediately. Overall highly recommend and would stay again!

This property is amazing, from the uniqueness of the castle to the access to the water/ and ability to rent a boat directly from the owner, everything is fantastic.
I have stayed in many vrbo’s and this one is top of the list, extremely comfortable beds, strong AC, with a fully stocked kitchen. Perfect for a group of people looking for a great house with breathtaking view, hoping to make some lasting memories.
I can’t recommend this property enough. I will be back for sure.
