The host and staff were excellent

Sahin Tepesi is a real gem. Located relatively close to the airport and high up on a hill, the property offers spectacular views and a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. Because of its location, however, you will need some form of transport—either a rental car or a taxi—to get around, as there is not much within easy walking distance and the steep climb makes walking less practical. In our view, being slightly away from the city centre is actually one of the hotel’s biggest advantages, as it makes the property quiet, relaxing and away from the hustle and bustle. We booked 2 two-bedroom apartment with sea views, and the views from the balconies were simply spectacular. The airport runways were clearly visible from our rooms, although they are far enough away that aircraft noise was never really an issue. If you enjoy a bit of plane spotting, this would be an ideal room to book! The apartments themselves were excellent—clean, spacious and comfortable. There were a few minor niggles during our stay, but these were promptly attended to and resolved by the staff. The kitchen was adequately equipped and even included cleaning supplies and detergents. The only thing we felt was missing was a microwave, which would have been a useful addition. Breakfast was another highlight. It was excellent, with a different menu served each day, which was particularly appreciated during our stay. The hotel also has an attached beauty salon and what appeared to be a newly opened Pedi restaurant in front of the property. We did not use either, but they may be useful facilities for other guests. What really sets Sahin Tepesi apart, however, is the manager, Mr Ertan, and his wonderful team. They truly elevate the experience. Always smiling, welcoming and helpful, they went out of their way to assist with anything we needed. Nothing ever seemed to be too much trouble. Overall, Sahin Tepesi has everything you could want for a relaxing stay in Trabzon.
