About this villa rental

Nestled in Modica, this lovely villa for $479 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. Visitors flock to Sicily’s soft sands during the summer months, but this unique Mediterranean island is far more than just a beach destination. Families can scale Mount Etna in giant off-road jeep buses, feast on classic Sicilian sweets and explore well-preserved archeological ruins like the Valley of the Temples. Many beautiful Sicilian sites have been used to film movies and television programs. With the island lying closer to Africa than Rome, its southerly climate (with mild winters and a hot dry summers with a light breeze) makes it an ideal holiday destination all year round. Villa Modica This fully air conditioned, elegant modern villa sits splendidly in 5 acres of land in the middle of a gorgeous valley with breathtaking panoramic views. It is just a few minutes by car from the centre of Modica. Light and spacious, the Villa is tastefully furnished and designed to provide comfortable accommodation for up to 10 guests. It is equipped with a fireplace, Smart TV with Netflix for movies and children’s entertainment, plenty of toys, screens on windows and 5 air-conditioned bedrooms. From outside, the views are breathtaking: you may hear the peal of Modica's bells from a mile away and the closer tinkling of cowbells. We have especially planned for the safety of small children and babies. All access points to the pool have gates to keep young children safe and the saltwater pool means no red eyes or chlorine smell. We have a secure full-size playground of 140sq meters for the children to enjoy, large terraces overlooking the countryside, a manicured garden interspersed with fruit trees and lawn areas offering plenty of space in which to soak up the beauty of the Mediterranean landscape. The private, solar-heated outdoor roman style pool is ideal for children to splash and paddle under the vigilant eye of adults. The Villa also has a tennis court, zip line, hot tub, playground for children, sprawling garden and lots of spaces for adults to enjoy which are peaceful and relaxing. At the far corner of the property, we have a petting zoo of domestic animals. There is a pony, a donkey, chickens, ducks, geese, Tibetan goats, and much more, which kids and adults can interact with if they like. The Villa is environmentally friendly: we produce our own solar electricity and hot water and our saltwater pool is heated by thermo solar panels. By coming to our villa your vacation will not produce any carbon footprint. We offer the best family holiday villa anywhere in Sicily; we have a lot to offer at a very affordable price: • Large well-equipped Villa • Private solar heated 6 x12 metre saltwater pool • Private International size tennis court for double play • Jacuzzi Hot Tub for 5 people • Lovely, landscaped garden • Well-equipped playground for children • A picnic area with a charcoal BBQ • Ping Pong table Football Table • Indoor gym • Gas Weber BBQ • Maid service or a cook for an original Sicilian meal can be arranged at the time of booking • English is spoken as a first language. Sicilan food Sicily’s original thick-crusted pizza is a must try. As there’s a topping for every taste so everyone is bound to find something they like; the more adventurous palate should go for the classic, which includes anchovies, herbs and strong local cheese on a fresh tomato base. For dessert it’s cannoli of course, deep-fried pastry tubes filled with sweet ricotta, that takes the centre stage. Arancini — delicious fried rice balls — are another option for a cheap meal on the go. A local street-food tour is a fun way to explore for those who love to try new dishes. Modica Fall under the magic spell of baroque Modica with its cobbled streets and laneways flanked by imposing fairytale palaces and magnificent cathedrals. The town is renowned for its almond pastries, custard sweets and chocolate delicacies — especially those made by local pastry chef from Dolce Arte only 5 minutes from the Villa. Follow the sweet scent of powdered cinnamon down winding lanes to find old-fashioned bakeries and encourage the kids to taste the local treats. Cafes and restaurants with outdoor seating are everywhere; you can always find a place to rest and eat a gelato, sip a glass of our local wine, or cool down with a refreshing lemon granita. For chocolate lovers a special treat awaits, Modica is famous for a unique type of chocolate with a recipe which dates back to the Spanish rulers that ruled Sicily. Today it’s a delicacy that’s a musttry. Fancy swimming in the Mediterranean sea? It could not be easier; just a 20 minutes drive and you are on lovely sandy beaches where children will love to build sand castles. The seaside towns of Marina di Modica, Pozzallo and Sampieri provide an array of shops, restaurants and beach clubs. Then there is Punta Secca where the renowned Italian TV series 'Inspector Montalbano' was filmed so make sure you visit all the film sites such as Donnafugata's castle and Ragusa Ibla. Exciting day trips from the Villa The east side of the island is famed for its succession of exquisite baroque towns including Catania, a splendid city lying between Etna and the Ionian Sea, Syracuse, with its temples, Greek Theatre, Roman Amphitheatre and Ear of Dionysius and Ragusa, with its traces of human settlements dating from as early as the 3rd millennium BC. Towering 3,329 meters high, Mount Etna, Europe’s tallest volcano, is one of Sicily’s seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is a family favourite because of how close you can usually get to the fuming calderas. The trip starts with a cable-car ride up to 2,500 metres, from where 4x4 jeep buses carry travellers higher on guided tours of the lunar-like landscape and smoking volcano craters. Tours are available from Rifugio Sapienza in Catania. Sicily has more than its fair share of historic ruins and many of the best are not far from the Villa. Some of Sicily’s finest ruins can be found at the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento on the southwest coast — a UNESCO World Heritage site with one of the world’s best-preserved Greek temples. The list of wonders that are waiting for you is too long to be written here.

I am going to find it difficult to actually give George's house the justice it deserves - it is extremely special. My family and I have stayed in many houses in Portugal, Greece and Italy and this was the most impressive for sure. There are just so many great things about it.. Here are some highlights: The swimming pool - perfect size with lots of space for lounging, the gardens - beautiful plants and trees with wonderful fruits and vegetables to eat, the tennis court - very well kept and rackets and balls available, the farmyard - lots of cute animals for the kids and the beds - all very comfortable and rooms very nice. My personal favourite part of the house is the outdoor area for eating, equipped with a BBQ and a wonderful view of Modica - we had some great and late nights there! This house is fabulous for kids and adults alike. Now a word on Modica itself, because it is a fantastic town. This was our second trip there and I was shocked when I opened the Sicily Lonely Planet and saw Modica wasn't one of their '14 highlights of Sicily'. Big mistake guys. But you know what maybe that's a good thing because Modica may stay off the tourist trail! Modica is a foodie's dream. I have had the best pasta, pizza, ice cream and chocolate of my life there. The chocolate is incomparable to anything you will taste in Europe. We went to some wonderful restaurants and bars. We did the train tour of the town which was a big hit with the kids. We wandered the incredibly narrow streets of Modica Allta which is like somewhere stuck in time - in a very charming way. I highly recommend checking out Goccia cocktail bar where we had an amazing night! Finally a word for our hosts, George and Antonella. We have never felt so looked after. From the first moment to the last, they did everything they could to help us enjoy our stay. We arrived to a home cooked meal, they were always there for any questions we had and they gave us some great recommendations for things to do. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I feel like we were living a dream of some kind.

Amazing Villa Outside Modica
Amazing Villa Outside Modica
We can’t imagine a more wonderful villa in Sicily for our visiting family of two grandparents, married son, his wife, and two children ages 5 and 8. The nearby owner and his family were terrific. It exceeded the description and our expectatiobs.

This villa is probably one of the best value properties you are likely to find anywhere in Italy! It has something for all ages from infants right up to grandparents. The outside space is amazing with a great size pool(the best we’ve ever had), wonderful hot tub and a terrace with fabulous views to Modica. We loved popping down to see the animals each day and the hearing the occasional bray of the donkey! The rooms inside are spacious and cool and are kitted out with everything you could possibly need. We cooked on the terrace, where there is a choice of gas or charcoal BBQ, and in the kitchen where there is enough crockery, cutlery, cookware for everyone including some durable for infants and young children. They really have thought of everything!!! And of course, as previous reviewers have said, there is Georgio!!! He really is a gem- the most helpful guy and also very informative, especially about all the requirements for Covid. It was very reassuring knowing he was on hand if we needed him. We had a fantastic holiday and would thoroughly recommend this villa to anyone who wants a homely villa with amazing outside amenities. We would love to return! Thanks for everything! Absolutely amazing
Absolutely amazing
The property was amazingly clean and actually much more than we expected. There was more than enough space for 3 families and the heated pool and tenniscourt was used everyday of our stay at the end of October. The farmyard blew the kids away and they loved collecting fresh eggs in the morning and helping feed Zeus (the donkey), Snuggles the miniature goat and all the rabbits and birds. George was the best host we have ever had and was always available to sort anything out, give us advice and even took the time to be our personal Tourguide. His English is perfect, communication instant and love of Modica and Sicily infectious. Our stay was perfect. Whether the property itself, the amenities the closeness and access to all the beautiful towns around it or the seaside and best of all was our host, George. We cannot recommended Villa Modica enough and we will be back soon!

A truly memorable holiday
A truly memorable holiday
We booked a last minute trip to Sicily during the covid pandemic and the ever changing 'air bridge' quarantine advice from the UK government. I don't think anyone believed we would actually make it, but thankfully we did and it was exactly what we needed. Our entire experience was faultless, from George's very generous 100% refund policy if we has to cancel due to the pandemic, to the incredible welcome meal, drinks and grocery shop. The villa and grounds were stunning and the kids (aged 1-8) were all catered for superbly. From collecting eggs in the morning to an array of toddler friendly toys and cutlery - everything you could imagine needing has already been thought of and provided. I can't imagine we will ever have a holiday like this again, and it couldn't have come at a better time.

Fantastic family villa
Fantastic family villa
Without doubt the villa is the most family-friendly villa we have ever rented. There's many things which impressed us about our holiday. The villa was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The owners had done a shop for groceries which were ready for our arrival. They prepared a lovely Sicilian meal for us as some of our party were arriving late and also left us plenty of wine from their vineyard for our meal. The villa has plenty of toys and games and is equipped with everything you need for your stay. Unusually in my experience there's a large fridge freezer in the kitchen which was more than capable of chilling all our food. The pool is fenced which makes for a more relaxing time when you have little children with you. The pool is kept lovely and warm even in September which meant we spent lots of time in it. Our hosts live next door and were always on hand to help if we needed pizzas ordered or we wanted advice of where to eat. George was also kind enough to come and find us when our sat navs failed to get us to the villa. All in all we had a wonderful time and this was in no small part down to the owners and their lovely villa. Thanks from all of us
