Selwyn Star Motel

Quiet, fireplace. Easy to find.

We needed a short stay (2 days) near the Selwyn Snow Resort and we found this motel as the most affordable and closest in terms of its location. Everything matched my expectations according to the advertisement. The room is 20m2 - very tiny but functional as we needed just beds for sleeping. When we arrived late night, the reception was unattended but the key for the room was left, the A/C unit was turned on so we went into the warm and cosy room when we arrived. Toilet/shower were quite clean. There was hot and cold water supply in the lounge area with tea and coffee bags. We parked in front of the motel reception that was very convenient. In the range of a few hundreed meters we found a few places to eat - bistro and bakery and enjoyed eating in both of them. Overall, it was good value for money in such remote location and close to the snow resort.

Good location. The room was clean and warm, and the beds were comfortable. There were some basic facilities for meal preparation in the common room (microwave, toaster, hot water). One of the other guests collected firewood and lit a fire in the fireplace one night.

The room was tiny - ok for a few nights, but not for a long stay. We didn’t see the manager at all. It would have been nice if the open fire was lit each evening.
