About this apartment rental
Excellent apartment on the first floor of the house in the countryside, on a farm. The house is located in a beautiful and peaceful valley called Norðurárdalur in Borgarfjörður, 154 km from Keflavík International Airport (1 hour and 55 minutes drive). From the borders of Reykjavík city, the drive is about 1 hour and 15 minutes. The apartment was renovated in 2008. It is 70 square meters of size and is well equipped, i.e. microwave, coffee machine and a washer and free WiFi. Beddings and towels included. There are two rooms and in site the apartment, one bedroom and a living room with a pull-out sofa. Extra mattresses and beddings can be provided.

West Iceland is the mecca of the Icelandic sagas, such as Egils saga Skallagrímssonar, Eiríkssaga and Laxdæla. It has many historical sites and there is a possibility of guided tours around such sites. Birdlife in the area is rich. The nature in the area is spectacular, with its mountains, craters, waterfalls, lakes, valleys and magical lava. Furthermore, it is one of the best areas in Iceland to view Northern Lights, during the fall and wintertime.

The heritage of Iceland's greatest medieval writer, poet, scholar and statesman, Snorri Sturluson (1179-1241), is rooted in Reykholt in the west of Iceland.

Most evidence suggest that Eirik the Red´s son Leif Ericsson 'Leif the Lucky' was born at Eirkisstadir. Leifur became the first Europian to set foot in North America, which he named Vinland, in the year 1000

We had a fantastic stay. It was a bit of a squeeze for our family of 6 but the host made us aware in advance. Good value for money excellent communication and simple check in. Our children particularly enjoyed visiting the animals at the farm and the opportunity to go horse riding.

Wonderful apartment, very large one bedroom, laundry, kitchen well equipped, good quality for the price. Farm atmosphere and good central location for all the nearby sites.

Staying at the Hvassafell II was a lifetime experience for our family. We had such an amazing stay and our hosts Arnie and Magnus were pleasant, kind hearted and always available for questions. We felt right at home the minute we arrived. A beautiful place with majestic surroundings where there is sunshine, warmth and tranquility. A photographic landscape with a warm home in the middle of it with a delightful farm. Just imagine, having a warm cup of coffee and absorbing the scope and grandeur of the landscape while the horses gallop and the sheep frolic. Ahh… now that’s a vacation. The geothermal heat warms up the entire house making it nice and cozy, which benefits the body after a long day of hiking. The heating system also dries our washed clothes in hours too.We are a family that enjoys eating at home, so we were constantly in the kitchen. Arnie and Magnus have this kitchen fully equipped, making a chef of all levels comfortable to cook any kind of meal. Now let’s not forget the full view from the kitchen, a vibrant farm and picturesque hills while you enjoy your meal. We were also blessed to have Arnie and Magnus allow us to ride and pet their wonderful horses, oh and what a character the horses are...they seem like siblings always wanting the full attention and we definitely gave it to them. We even braided their hair. They were absolutely beautiful and fun. What a treat! You can see the passion that Arnie and Magnus have for their farm and animals. We humbly thank you Arnie & Magnus for such an amazing experience and sharing a glimpse of their peaceful life that we so desperately needed . Always grateful!The Sosa Family
