It was our second time there and it was better than we remembered! The cottage is cozy, clean and stocked with more than we could have asked for! Love the area and so nice to park your car and leave it there! We walked to downtown Lake Placid and Mirror Lake! Beautiful area and wonderful cottage! Thank you McKenzie for welcoming us with the delicious chocolate chip cookies! Would highly recommend this cottage👍😊

The Highland Cottage is adorable and fitted with everything you could possibly need. Catherine was attentive and flexible with requests. The location is perfect for walking to shops, bars and restaurants as long as you’re okay with the hill. For us, it was a great workout and a fabulous vacation!

Tons of cobwebs and dustbunnies. Refrigerator was leaking into the floor. Deck in poor condition. I wouldn’t be comfortable permitting my family to sit out there. Deck furniture coverings were filled with rain water. Birdbath was also filled with water and mosquito larvae. Overall, things are rundown. The location was convenient to the village and it was quiet. Lastly, the loft, which is the main sleeping quarters, is very stuffy.

Just lovely - the cabin is just so cute on a nice quiet street. A real short walk and you are in town for shopping and dining. We enjoyed easy access to hikes just a short drive out from town with beautiful scenery all around. Plenty of cookware in the kitchen if you care to cook! And the bed is very comfy. The hosts, Cathy and Ted, are quick to respond if you have a question and delightful to deal with. Very relaxing! We had a wonderful time!

Address was incorrectly listed on check in as 38... actual address is 42. Once we found it, we were trying to locate access information until we found the note in the door. The bedroom area has an extremely low ceiling. which as a 6'2", 300+ pound gentlemen, made it extremely difficult to get to. All the other ammenities were great. I would have loved to see a futon or another sleeping option on the mid-loft area.

This little cottage was perfect for our long weekend stay! So many homey touches made us feel comfortable. The interior was rustic Adirondack. A short walk (uphill) from downtown. Very convenient.

This spot was exactly what we were looking for on our short mountain biking trip in Lake Placid. East walk into town, really close to the trails, and even some friendly neighborhood cats stopped by to say hi.

In need of repairs…there is mold in the entryway and bathroom area, found mice living in the kitchen area, and smells. Place has potential and decorated very nice, but we had to leave early because of the smell.

I was in Lake Placid with my two teenage daughters who were there to skate at the Olympic Center. The cottage was in a great location for us, just a short walk up the hill from the rinks and the village. Along with other houses, the cottage sets back on a quiet road off the main road which makes it a very relaxing place to be even though the busy shops and restaurants are close by. The cottage is lovely, clean and comfortable. Cathy is wonderful to communicate with and has thought of everything guests could possibly need or need to know when staying there. The kitchen and bathroom are well-stocked with anything you would need. There are plenty of towels, extra pillows and blankets as well as drawer and closet space. Cathy has a binder in the living room that includes helpful information about the area. The cottage has a couple different levels and a loft, which truly adds to its charm along with decor that makes you feel at home. It was warm and humid when we were in Lake Placid, but we were very comfortable in the cottage with the air conditioner downstairs and the fan in the loft. There is also a fireplace in the living room which I imagine would be very cozy if you were there during the colder months. We enjoyed our stay very much and would highly recommend the cottage!!

My husband and I rented the cottage for 6 nights while our son was in CANAM hockey camp for the week. The cottage is perfect for 2 people! We had to work remotely most days we were there, but it was in the perfect location to be able to walk downtown at night for dinner and some exercise. The house was extremely well stocked and no small detail was overlooked! I highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a small get away in a beautiful location! We will definitely be back! The property itself was good. Just the bed was difficult to get to in the loft especially since my husband is 6 ft2 inches tall. We had a good laugh watching him crawl into bed. Close to the Main Street but if your walking there is quite a hill to walk up after a great day by the water.

This cottage is perfectly located for easy walking access to Lake Placid Main Street but is far enough to avoid the noise. And the High Peaks day-hiking is a short distance away. It has all the amenities you need. The bed is comfortable but the sleeper sofa - not so much if your tall, so just be aware of that. When we return to Lake Placid we will try and rent this cottage again.

I rented this for a friend’s wedding & to ski Whiteface. It is a small cottage with different levels: bathroom at entry, a living room/kitchen up the stairs, a second level with couch & outdoor deck, & bed in a loft. It would be perfect for a couple or small family. Bed was comfortable. Loved the fireplace. Fully stocked with cookware (I even saw some birthday candles)! Bathroom has hair dryer, towels, shampoo/cond/soap/Qtips. You could arrive with just some clothes and be set. It is on a very steep hill up from Main St and it was below zero temps so I typically drove down & easily found parking, but in the summer would be an easy walk to shops, restaurants, lake, Olympic museum. Such a nice respite from busy hotels/resorts. Thank you!

Second time back to Highland Cottage and it was just as wonderful as the first. The cottage is cozy and comfortable and we loved cozying up on the couch after tackling a few local hikes. The cottage is located close enough to Main Street to be very convenient for some dinners but still secluded and quiet for nice evenings at home. We loved the gas fireplace and how well stocked the cabin is. We were so pleased to be welcomed by a plate of fresh baked cookies and to be honest they did not last last the second day! We cannot want to make a 3rd trip!

The Hillcrest Cottage is a beautiful little piece of paradise. It is in a great location, walking distance to main street, but far enough off that you won't be disturbed. We went for Fall hiking and the cottage is also an easy drive to the Loj and Olympic complex. The cottage is cozy and well-stocked so you don't have to go out to eat every night. We will definitely stay again!
