recently modernised excellent duplex accommodation in the heart of st emilion. Good communication with the host who was very friendly and helpful.

Parking a pain but that is St Emillion

This is a great apartment in St Emilion which is fully self-contained and a short walk to church and many wine shops and restaurants. There is a good kitchen and a large bathroom with a bath. The bed is comfortable and the place was very clean. My host Fabienne met me at a designated place and then showed me where to park. The car park is underground and secure and is less than 100m from the apartment. There is a terrace out back where you can sit and enjoy breakfast or a glass of wine in the early evening with views over the town. There's a supermarket and butcher about 10 mins walk away. The bed and bathroom are up stairs so this place is not suitable if you are mobility challenged. There's a large TV which has mostly French channels, but you don't come here to watch TV. The apartment is perfect for an adult or couple.

The internet speed was not suitable (1 Mbps !). I could not stream video. Usually in France, the internet is very good. It's something that could be easily fixed I believe. Another issue which wasn't apparent on the booking was the requirement for a cash deposit. Of course, it's quite normal to want a deposit but usually this is done as a pre-authorisation on a credit card. Mobile EFT terminals are very common these days and that would be a great help as travellers usually don't carry around a lot of cash. In any case, this should be indicated in advance.
