Saanich Chamber of Commerce Members History of the Property: The Orchard House is part of the founding history of Sidney, BC. It was completed over a 3 year period from 1911-1914. It was the original home to Roy Brethour, who was one of 5 sons given each 100 acres by his Irish settler father, Samuel. The fine Craftsman woodwork and flooring was completed by his brother Edgar, who was a major contractor in Vancouver at the time with a company called Snider & Brethour Construction. The Orchard House is on title just by name at city hall. The home has been used for the last 50 years to supplement a hotel and later as a B&B.
