About this cottage rental
The Stablehand Quarters is a new stylish cottage set within the grounds of Gunyah Country Estate. With wonderful views of Mt Hutt, Winterslow, Old Man's Peak, as well as peeks at other ranges, it is a quiet conveniently located home for many tourist attractions in the Methven area (skiing, golf, hot air ballooning, fishing, bush walks, landscape).
Cool in the summer, warm in the winter, well appointed and full of character.
Special conditions:
No Smoking inside or outside. No parties, no tents, no dossers. Cleaning: Leave property as found or Optional cleaning fee on exit. One night stay permitted with extra $ 20 surcharge applying per stay.

Very comfortable & well equipped, would’ve stayed longer if we’d known.
But it was difficult to find! Google maps just took us to Glentunnel, where we got uncertain directions from the shop.

Good accommodation. Friendly dogs. Lovely grounds. Unfortunately had noisy neighbours first night. Second night lovely and quiet. Great log burner. Comfy bed.

We stayed 5 nights here because of the central location to surrounding summer hikes, Rakaia Gorge, Arthur's Pass, Mt Hutt. Travelled no more than 1 1/2 hrs in any direction to get to hikes. The two bedrooms were ideal, comfortable bathroom with underfloor heating, excellent kitchen with everything you need to cook. Large fridge, oven and gas cooktop. Be prepared though with groceries before arriving as not in an 'urban'area. Go to Rolleston Countdown for cheapest shopping and stock up. Methven and smaller towns have less range and more expensive prices/shorter opening times. If you want peace and quiet and a visit from two friendly farm dogs, this is the place.
