About this house rental
Situated in Porter, this charming house for $325 per night is a great option for your next break. The Wabash Dunes house offers the perfect place to stay for families, groups of friends, and couples, with spacious bedrooms and all the comforts of home provided. It's newly renovated with hardwood floors, central air and heating, and brand new furniture. The beach is steps away - Reference Map attached shows exact aerial view! Large bedroom has 2 queen beds and a trunk bed that sleep 2 so a total possible of 6 people and the smaller bedroom has 1 queen bed. The total that can be accommodated is 8 and we provide a pack-n-play for any small toddlers or babies. The home includes a well-equipped kitchen with cooking and serving implements, charcoal grill & tools, a couple of beach chairs, wagon to transport items to the beach, linens and bath towels (not beach towels), basic bathroom (TP to start, hand soap) and cleaning items, and new appliances including: dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, stove, washer, and dryer! There is wireless internet and a smart TV with the popular apps for entertainment such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon (not cable/satellite); or you could play some of the games we provided. The house sits on a large lot, about a third of an acre, with plenty of space for parking, fun & play including sports, and relaxing; especially on the wide wooden deck. When you arrive, you will be able to park right by the house on the property, up to 4 cars! Beautiful Lake Michigan is very close to the house with beach access! There is plenty of room to bring kayaks, paddle boards, and fun beach items that you could store on the side of the house during your stay. There are trails, sand dunes, and woods of Indiana Dunes State Park and National Lakeshore Parks next door. Property is located 45 miles from Chicago and accessible by train, South Shore Line. There is a wide variety of dining and entertainment in the surrounding area if you are inclined to explore or on a rainy day. Plan for your stay accordingly, but here is a list of items to consider to bring: extra toilet paper, extra paper towels, personal items/toiletries such as shampoo and conditioner, laundry soap, charcoal for the grill, food, drinks, and whatever other entertainment items you would like for your vacation. Come and stay at Wabash Dunes for a relaxing and fun beach getaway! Some housekeeping: Please note there is a SIX NIGHT minimum during peak summer months. ALL adults staying at the home must SIGN the rental agreement. 2 of the adults must provide ID's to verify age requirement (if at least 2 adult guests are staying) The occupancy overnight cannot exceed 8 people including children. Guests can have people visit and spend time at the beach house, but not spend the night. Large parties and gatherings of more than 15 people are not permitted. Respect the private property of neighbors! House Rules and Rental Agreement attached and signing confirms acceptance.

My family had such a wonderful stay in Porter Beach. The house was spotless and beautifully decorated. The pictures did not do it justice. It was HUGE and had plenty of room for at least 4 more people. We loved sitting on the deck in the mornings with our coffee and enjoying the beach view. The beach was by far our favorite part. It was so nice to be so close. We just packed up the chairs and the beach toys into the wagon that was provided and walked down the road. It took less than five minutes to walk and find a place. The beach was GORGEOUS. The sand is clean, and the water is clear. Sometimes you really do forget that you're on a lake. The living room is super cozy for those days you want to just relax on the couch and watch a movie. The town has plenty of stores and restaurants for anything you may want or need. There are several parks nearby with playgrounds for young children. The owner was very friendly and reached out the day before our arrival to verify that the house had been cleaned and to discuss how to access the place. I have stayed at several places through VRBO over the years and I have to say that this was my favorite by far. We will be back for sure!

We stayed in this house for a week with our 8yo, 6yo and 1yo. It was clean, comfortable, well-appointed and accurately represented by the photos! The kids enjoyed the yard space and the deck was very private. The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets. We cooked all our meals in and had everything we needed to do that. The beach access was 100 yards from the house, and we could see the lake from the house despite one property between us. The state park was next door and can be accessed via the beach. This time of year it was very quiet, but I can see it being much busier (and louder) during peak times with the public beach parking lot across from the house. The property manager communicated well and is very friendly and helpful! This is a great location to visit Lake Michigan and Indiana Dunes National and State parks. It’s always a gamble when visiting a property for the first time after scouring vacation rentals online, but this property did not disappoint. I only wish we had booked a longer stay!

We stayed here in July with our 7, 5 and 2 year old. The proximity to the beach was amazing! We had everything we needed in the house to enjoy a day at the beach. We loved exploring the dunes that were really easy to get to from the beach. The hosts were great and responsive to questions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will be back!

What a lovely place to stay near the Indiana Dunes National/State Park and a 1 minute walk to the beach. Hearing whip- poor- whils and the waves crashing on the shore at night was one of the most relaxing nights ever! House was clean and the owner was lovely to work with. Hope to stay there again next year. Thank you!

Everything was perfect. From the property to the closeness of the beach to the property manager. She was so kind to us and answered promptly. Hoping to return this summer when we can get into the water. Would recommend 1000%!!!

My two kids and I stayed at the property (both under 10) and they loved it! My oldest said she was going to live there when she grew up! Okay he cleanliness of the home was immaculate- like SPOTLESS! The property manager was on it- they had a spotlight out front that was really bright at night, I mentioned it to her and she had someone out same day to turn it off for us!
My only complaint would honestly be the water…we ended up buying a couple jugs of drinking water from the dollar general down the street because it was so awful but that was only a couple of dollars and not that big of a deal!
Overall it was fully worth the money, I only wish the weather would have cooperated with us a little more- gorgeous space and monumental location!!!

We were back for the 3rd year and loved it just as much as our previous stays. The house had a few nice upgrades, especially the beach chairs! Very much appreciated those. As always, Heather is absolutely wonderful to communicate with and very responsive. Ready to book for 2023!

Time away beach vacay
After a very long year between our families health both mentally and physically, this house and the beach located just a short walk away from the property provided such a wonderful family stay for us!! The view was perfect, the location was perfect and was everything we could dream it to be 🏖we took a day and went into Chicago that was only an hour drive away and the rest we did absolutely nothing but relax by the beach and make memories ❤️ Thank you!! We will be back again very soon :)

Couldn’t Ask for a Better Property
Extremely easy booking. Heather was quick and easy to communicate with and was able to give excellent local recommendations. The property itself was perfect. Ample space for 2 adults and 4 children ages 6-12. Very clean inside and out and came very well supplied with household items and for the beach. Speaking of the beach, you’re practically right on it. Only one property is between you and an uninterrupted view. You’re just steps away on a paved road making trips back and forth very easy, plus there’s a park bath house along the way you can stop and use. The area is quite at night and has a great back drop to unwind. 10/10 recommend and hope to stay again.

I would recommend staying here if you are looking for a beach getaway in the Indiana Dunes!
A few things I would mention only because aren't in the description: the sewer is septic and the water is likely well water as it has that distinctive sulfur smell and taste; the bathroom has a distinct slope by the toilet, and if you are traveling with older or mobility impaired note that there are no grab bars or safety strips in the shower/tub; not all windows have screens and neither does the sliding glass door, but there were enough that did have screens to turn off the a/c and open the windows when the weather was nice; there were only 2 beach chairs so we were glad to have brought extras; sitting on the deck for dinner was great, but we definitely wished we had brought bug spray since the citronella candles we brought just didn't cut it!

Relaxing beach getaway
The house was clean and nicely furnished. The back deck had a view of the lake and we spent a lot of time out there. When we wanted to swim or walk the beach it was literally about a hundred feet away. We had a very relaxing ti me with no agenda. We plan in coning back next year.

Our family really enjoyed our stay! The house is right down the road from the breach with a view of the water from the deck! It was so convenient to just pack up the kids and walk 2 minutes to get to the beach. We had an amazing time and look forward to going back again soon!

Home away from home
We discovered this cottage last year and will be returning multiple times this year. It is a perfect location and is so well taken care of and managed, that it just makes our trips joyful and easy.

3rd time was the best!
This was our third stay at the lake this summer and once again, the house was perfect for our family. Zika is absolutely wonderful to communicate with and really made our kids day when she left them personalized treats as a welcome.

Excellent Stay and very nice home
We had an excellent time at Wabash Dunes! The property was very nice and clean, we had 6 adults and 2 children and had plenty of room. Just short walk to enjoy the beach, and food/grocery near by. The owner was a pleasure to work work and very quick to respond! Highly recommend and we be coming back!

Convenient & Clean
Perfect location for easy access to the beach, the sand wagon was a wonderful amenity. Grocery delivery available for this address as well as Door Dash. We enjoyed walking down the beach to the state park.

This was our second stay of the summer at this house. We have a 3rd stay booked as well because we love it so much. It's clean, has a perfect location, and is aptly stocked for a week at the beach. Zika is very responsive, helpful & friendly.

Quick Getaway to the Beach
I loved the communication and the attentiveness throughout the process. We actually got there a lot earlier than planned but Zika was so kind and said that the house was ready! Our first impression was about how nice the decor and cleanliness of the property was! It's really close to the beach so that was pretty fantastic! The private deck is really nice to enjoy lunch/dinner. the house layout is quite spacious! So don't let the sq. footage fool you! The bed arrangement is pretty great for families. Would stay here again!

Amazing beach getaway location
Stayed there recently for one week with my sister and friend while celebrating my Aunt's (who lives in Chesterton) 92nd birthday. House was exactly as described. Weather was great and the water temp was perfect. Had many delightful early morning walks up and down the beach. Sunsets were spectacular on a few nights. Only negative was that day before we left the pilings for a new construction next door were being pounded into the ground for a good part of the day. This is not likely to be an issue for others since most were completed that day...I think. Otherwise, perfect vacay. Also the property manager is very responsive to phone texts, which was helpful when trying to check out and lock doors. Apparently I am one of the few that does not know you need to punch in code to insert the lockbox back into the holder :)

Staycation
We arrived at 4pm Monday. Used the code for the key box, so we could open the house. The house was beautiful and very clean. The view from the house is amazing. Very close to the beach. We spent just about everyday on the beach. Everyone was respectful and kept socially distant. Very good trip. And only 1 1/2 hour drive.

Beach vacay
Absolutely wonderful time!! Property couldn’t be in a more convenient location :) it was a perfect walk to the beach and you had a nice view of the water from the deck as well. Owner had chairs and a wagon for us to use for the beach. Lake Michigan was absolutely phenomenal making this the perfect family vacay especially with the Covid-19 the beach wasn’t extremely packed except on Saturday and that’s a given. We felt very safe and protected!! We couldn’t have asked for a better vacation nor a better owner Zika was very professional, honest and answered any and all questions we had!! Very great time and highly recommended we hope to visit this exact location again in the coming years 😊 thank you again Zika for the wonderful hospitality!!

Great location perfect beach house
We stayed at this property over 4th of July weekend and it had everything we needed and was in the perfect location. It was so spacious for 5 adults, very clean, and nicely decorated. We truly had a great time and look forward to rebooking soon!

Our family stayed for a week at this property and thoroughly enjoyed it. The house was immaculate when we arrived, which is very much appreciated. The location with beach access was so convenient and allowed us the ability to maximize our time at the lake. We did have local family over to visit and it was easy to host a small group with the open layout and big front deck. We visit the area several times a year and will definitely be back.
