Immaculate property, super close to Shen Natl Park/Skyline Drive, Luray Caverns, unique shops, markets, restaurants, horseback riding, fishing, golf, wineries/breweries, historic sites, Shenandoah River, Lake Arrowhead & the slopes of Massanutten Resort! Managed by the owners and not a prop manager so that you get personalized attention, this two level cabin is large enough for guests to spread out (max 6 guests, only 4 adults) yet also romantic and perfect for couples as well. Truly gorgeous property with breathtaking mountain views. Impeccably clean home offers 2 BD w/queen beds fitted w/super cozy Egyptian cotton linens, 1 BD w/two twin beds, 3 full BAs, hot tub, fireplace, outdoor fire pit, WiFi, and much more. Guests need to only bring their clothes, their toiletries, and their groceries as the owners have thought of everything else for you! Come relax and enjoy the mountains! Minimum rental age is 26 years, no groups permitted. Guests have full access to entire home including upper decks with plentiful seating (mountain facing views!), lower patio w/outdoor fire pit, private hot tub, Weber propane grill, additional seating, and outdoor acreage. The Black Bear Lodge is located on Roundhead Mountain, easily accessed from a paved rural road and paved lane. It is privately situated on its own acreage with wineries, horseback riding, Shenandoah River tubing/kayaking, fishing, hiking, biking, swimming, ATV riding, shooting & much more are available within only a few miles! Very peaceful, quiet, and private location. Minutes to Shenandoah Nat'l Park and quaint, iconic downtown Luray and Luray Caverns. Easily accessed by any vehicle, 4WD not necessary during normal weather conditions. This property is intended for couples, families, or mature groups (max 6 guests, only 4 adults) who are interested in relaxing and enjoying a beautiful home with stunning mountain views. Lots of rules upon leaving, and notes everywhere telling you how to use the pans in the kitchen, the shower mat, the grill, hot tub, what not to do, and threats of not getting deposit back. They ask you to take your garbage to the local dump or text them if you are leaving it. Never received check in emails and had to wait on porch for 30 min., luckily it was a nice day. Cabin and surroundings are nice, but a little too much on the rules side during stay and at check out for the price and for being "on vacation."

In a beautiful location! Great to sit on the deck or in the hot tub and look at the mountains. Very comfortable home — beds, couches, space. Lots of storage, nicely equipped kitchen. It was just the two of us, but the two levels would be great for two couples or a family.

Home away from home
Fantastic property with stunning views and close to all the Shenandoah area has to offer. Will definitely book in the future when we travel to this area in VA. I know many are concerned about COVID-19 and cleanliness. This place is by far the cleanest property we have stayed at before or during the pandemic.

Great getaway close to Shenadoah
This is our second time renting from this property owner and it was again a great experience. The cabin was immaculate, well-appointed and welcoming. We made use of the fire pit (despite the wintry weather) and had a lovely time.

Loved the view! Spent lots of time relaxing on the balcony. Saw a hummingbird and deer. Property managers very helpful and easy to get in touch with if needed. Very clean. Was the relaxing vacation needed in the time of social distancing!

My husband, daughter and I spent three nights here over New Years. We had a lovely time relaxing at the house, enjoying all the amenities. The views can’t be beat. The house was nicely decorated for the holidays. There’s a fabulous playground near the Food Lion that we visited a few times. We had a wonderful time!

My husband, daughter and I spent three nights here over New Years. We had a lovely time relaxing at the house, enjoying all the amenities. The views can’t be beat. The house was nicely decorated for the holidays. There’s a fabulous playground near the Food Lion that we visited a few times. We had a wonderful time!

We spent our mornings and evenings just taking in the views of the valley. We managed to go on a hike in Shenandoah National Park, walk around Luray and even met Ben Jones of the Dukes of Hazzard at Cooter's in Luray. Stunning views !
We stayed in this lovely home in July 2019. The house is very well appointed and the views are stunning ! Our little one enjoyed walking/running on the yard and the Lego blocks . We hope to come back sometime and are very glad we chose your home.

Beautiful Property!
What a fantastic property to get away and take time to simply enjoy the distance between the hustle of the city. This was a work trip but wanted to take advantage of the rates to stay somewhere better than another hotel. The cabin was extremely clean and well kept with easy access. I highly recommend booking this property if you're alone or a family of 5!

Great cabin, lots of little details taken care of!
We loved our weekend getaway at this cabin! One of the nicest rentals we’ve ever stayed in. We had a brief snag upon arriva with the door code, but Lisa was very responsive and had it fixed in just minutes. The kitchen was well equipped, and it was great not having to bring linens, trash bags, TP, and all the little things that can add up and take up valuable space! We enjoyed the hot tub, played with puzzles, and liked both the solitude as well as the short drive back into town. TV service was perfect, and the couch comfy for us to take in some March madness and a spectacular UVA win! The views from the porch and hot tub were also fantastic! Thanks again for sharing your cabin with us.

Above and beyond
What a great way to escape it all and black bear lodge has exactly that. With stunning views and nature at its finest. Loved hearing the cows moo and listening to the bears across the way. Just sit on porch with a cup of coffee and take it all black bear lodge has to offer and you won’t want to leave,,

Impeccable cabin, wonderful views !
Our family of 6 stayed here for 3 nights. What a beautiful place ! The lodge/cabin is immaculate, very clean and you have no doubts owners take a good care of it. All information was readily accessible from bunch of brochures in the lodge, but obviously the correspondence before our arrival was of even importance. Owners responded quickly to all our inquiries and with abundance of information. We used the jacuzzi, the fire pit and the barbacue oven. Everything worked great ! However, the VIEWS from the porch are the biggest attraction of this house. I mean, beautiful is just not enough to describe it ! We were so lucky to have some wet weather first day with some clouds, the fog was carried in different directions and this made everything so DRAMATIC, then the rainbow came, I have never seen one like that before ! Next day again some fog in the AM, making it all look like floating in the skies ! Astounding ! The next day we had clear skies and views of the whole valley unobstructed. So each day we have sat on the porch, admiring different views and different happenings. I could sit there for days and just glue myself to this natural wonderful spectacle! Amazing !
We want to come back in the fall, maybe next year, the sooner the better..

Stunning, immaculate, had everything for our family!
We stayed at the Black bear lodge in the middle of June with our 3 kids- ages 7-13. Our kids wanted to stay forever. The lodge was spotless and the owners have thought of everything, we really appreciated all of the light switches labeled! I love air conditioning and it worked perfectly, the beds were so comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. We spent our days hiking in the Shenandoah National Park that was easy to get to, and our nights “binge watching” the amazing view from the porch. We would recommend this lodge to anyone who appreciates how much work these owners put into creating such a wonderful environment.

Absolutely Beautiful!!!
What can be said about this amazing cabin in Virginia? We had such a great time in the area doing so many things....the caverns, the wineries, and the National Park. At the end of the day we got to go back to the Black Bear Lodge and enjoy all it had to offer. So many amenities that were incredible. You can’t go wrong with this place. Can’t wait to go back again....that’s a definite. Breathtaking!!

Don't be afraid of this bear! Great property.
Four of us stayed and were extremely comfortable. With weather in the teens and twenties, the house stayed quite warm with the gas fireplace going on the main floor. Although we did not use the lower floor, there is a ton more space downstairs. You could easily have two couples with kids or 6 adults with plenty of room. The house is a very clean, well maintained, and one of the best-stocked houses I have stayed at in the Luray area. Everything we needed was there. Extra Towels, blankets, toiletries, even a wine bottle opener! Hot tub next to the firepit makes for a cozy evening in the cold, and without the firepit going you have pretty dark skies for some darn good star gazing. I'd say the skies are magnitude 4 to 4.5 naked eye. Not too shabby for the astronomers out there. Beautiful place, gorgeous location. Thanks for having us!

The cabin is beautiful, roomy and has everything you need to enjoy your stay. We also enjoyed looking at the stars while in the hot tub.

Amazing
The cupcakes welcoming us was a pleasant surprise. Perfect location, very clean, comfortable beds and nice kitchen. The view was amazing and so quiet!!!! We will be back soon. Owners were extremly helpful and the emails with detailed attachments we great for planning our weekend. Thanks for providing a perfect home for a wonderful weekend with friends.

This home is spacious, warm and very inviting. We had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked and the whole house was very clean. The owners also provided a binder of helpful information for those not familiar with the area.

This is a very nice property. Everything is as advertised and it was in top shape in terms of cleanliness. The view from the deck is spectacular. With the finished basement, it has a lot of room to roam around for any rainy or stay-in days. Convenient to SNP as well as Luray.

This cabin is every bit as nice as it looks in the photos, with the right balance of rustic and comfortable. The location, perched on a hillside high above the road, gives the cabin its great views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and helps ensure peace and quiet. The space is well laid out, with a large, open living room / kitchen area upstairs, where we spent most of our family time. The kitchen is very well equipped. The bedrooms are quiet and comfortable. Watching the fireflies while soaking in the hot tub was the perfect way to relax after an afternoon of hiking in Shenandoah National Park. Jim and Lisa were very responsive and helpful. We highly recommend the Black Bear Lodge.

This was our 2nd time renting the Black Bear Lodge. It is such a wonderful cabin with an incredible view -- and all the amenities. Our family loves the opportunity to get away from the day-to-day hustle bustle and relax in such a beautiful setting. Enjoyed hikes in the Skyline Drive, walking/jogging the Greenway, cooking out, Hershey S'More's, playing games, and the kids love the hot tub. DirecTV and wifi allows us to stay connected but the best part is just hanging out as a family and creating memories for our kids to last a lifetime. We hope to come back soon!
