About this condo rental
Situated in Sugar Mountain, this attractive condo for $93 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. 2 bedroom 2 bath condominium in Sugar Top high rise building. Long range views of Grandfather Mountain. and beyond. Facility has an indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna, and fitness room. This particular condo has a King in the master, 2 Twin beds in the second bedroom, and a sleeper sofa in the living room, so groups with up to 6 people will all find somewhere to lay their heads after a day of sightseeing. Kitchen has pots and pans, dishes and silverware, small appliances. NO coffee is provided, but we are now stocking units with salt and pepper, and cooking oil. The units only have a 38 gallon water heater , due to space limitations. This only permits a 3-5 minute shower before the heater needs to recycle and reheat. .

The place had 1980's furniture. the bed in master bedroom felt like sleeping on a board. was supposed to have cooking oil, all that was there is salt and pepper. Had to go to yhe store for a lightbulb for the bedroom. 2nd bedroom had an old TV that the cord didn't reach the plug. I would never stay in this unit again. The complex itself is excellent. Probably going to buy a unit that is completely updated

The condo building is on top of a mountain with excellent views all around. Unfortunately, the parking situation involves a shuttle and was a royal pain with children and luggage and all the vacation stuff. One must drive down the mountain and then up the other side to get to the ski slopes. The interior of the unit was OK and “retro” as the kids called it. The on-site pool and hot tub were great.

Overall this was a pretty good vacation. The condo itself gets. 4.5/5 mainly just old decor and appliances but was clean and well stocked. The location is nice in the sense you don’t have to leave the mountain to go to sugar mountain resort so you avoid the street traffic but having to take a shuttle can be annoying at times however they were always on top of it. The floor around the pool is a major hazard even when just walking and as an adult and that should be changed immediately. The pool and hot tub was a great amenity to have available compared to local air bnbs that maybe only had a hot tub and it was outdoors. We didn’t have a problem with the hot water duration but also not the biggest concern going into it. The staff were all very kind and attentive. For the 5 days we were there, only 1 elevator of the 2 were working which made the major fault even worse, and that major fault was checking in/out. The whole parking situation isn’t ideal but the main issue was a 5 car limit for loading and unloading. After a 3 hour car ride to the mountains, we waited another 2 hours in our car in line to be allowed up to check in. Because there is a capacity of 5 cars for loading and unloading and then only 1 elevator working, it was a disaster. There needs to be a better process to checking in and out so you don’t have to wait. I don’t mind not parking right next to the condo every night but being stuck in the car for 2 more hours is unacceptable. It made it worse having 2 young kids but either way it should not take that long. That process is a 1/5 but the actual condo is a 4.5/5. Just understand this might happen going into it and you will probably have a good experience!

Our stay at Sugar Mountain Lodging was subpar. The staff, from the rental office to the lodge employees, were direct and not welcoming like you may expect of someone in the hospitality industry. When we arrived, the water heater breaker was off so the shower was ice cold and we were unable to shower the first night. The master tub would not drain. Maintenance arrived promptly but with no tools, however he turned the breaker on and from then on we had 3 minutes of hot water every 45 minutes. The decor in our condo was very antiquated. We had to park in the overflow lot and be shuttled to the lodge each time we left and returned because we were told the empty parking spaces at the lodge were for owners. As someone renting the condo, I would expect to become the interim owner as far as parking since the owners would not be there to park. In 22 degree weather and with 2 small children, my husband and I do not plan to stay here again.

Good place to stay in the fall. Great view of the mountains. Outdated and a bit musty, but clean. Lighting a candle did the trick. No frills, nothing warm and fuzzy… just read the rules and regulations. May not suit your needs if you are skiing. Highly regulated building. Great restaurants in town. Price was right. We would stay again.

The only (allowed) high rise condo on Sugar Mtn. The view from the balcony was awesome except for 2 mornings when you could put your hand in the cloud.
The condo was clean but dated. Relatively new carpet. Had a small issue with no hairdryer and burned out lamp lightbulbs. Mgt. Co. handled it in record time.
Only complaint was parking. You had to park down the hill and be shuttled up by van.

The dishwasher had been run, but the soap dispenser didn't open so the dishes in it were not clean. We later discovered most of the dishes in the cabinet also had food residue on them, most likely for the same reason. Just gross, especially during a viral pandemic. We called the agency immediately upon arrival, but by the time we were able to get clean linens and a very quick bathroom cleaning, it was well after midnight. So much for hitting the slopes first thing in the morning.
I am willing to accept one condo cleaning being missed, but the food-ladened dishes in the cupboards show an obvious lack of oversight on cleanliness in general.
This may not matter to non-skiers, but they do not allow any ski equipment in the building, INCLUDING BOOTS. The alternative is storage in your vehicle or a communal, unheated storage unit. These are both unacceptable options as it's really difficult to put on frozen plastic ski boots in the morning, plus starting an icy cold day with your feet trying to warm up frigid ski boots is just miserable. I lowered my rating one star because of this rule. I get the mud issue, but just tell people to wrap boots in trashbags, rather than leave them in your car overnight.

We had a great time here. There was plenty of space and everything needed was available. The only drawbacks had nothing to do with the condo. Reading the website, there are zero restaurants on site as stated. We had to park down the hill and be shuttled down to our vehicles every time we went somewhere. There is nothing located on the top of the mountain. In order to do anything, even ski or tube, you must go back down the mountain and come up the other side

Unit was not as advertised

The building and location are amazing. Right on top of the mountain, perfect views of Grandfather Mtn. The condo was a great space for a girls’ weekend, we had plenty of room! One set of sheets was dirty, but there were clean extras, so we changed them out. A few dishes were dirty in the cabinet as well, but a quick run through the dishwasher took care of it. The kitchen was really well stocked, everything we could have needed! The kids really enjoyed the pool and hot tub as well. Overall, it was a great place to spend the weekend!

Very nice condo for single family. Everyone very friendly and accommodating and super helpful. Due to the Covid precautions we had to end our trip earlier then expected and the rental agency and everyone involved was very understanding and helpful. Very nice condo for single family. Loved the washer and dryer in the unit. Everyone very helpful, professional and friendly from beginning to end. Very quick to respond to inquiries. Had to shorten our stay due to the covid precautions and everyone was very understanding and accommodating. Will definitely be back on our next ski trip and cannot. Thanks and wishing you the best.

Perfect condo for ski trip
We were blessed with good weather for skiing and the very nice place to stay. The condo is conveniently located with very nice view. The condo was spacious for the family of 6 and we enjoyed our trip!

We had a good time to stay. The view was excellent, only glitch was the parking. The parking lots were not near the building, had a shuttle bus but could not go to the car easily and any time we needed. But overall, great place and highly recommended.

Nice place, too warm and humid for no a/c
The place was nice and the listing was as promised. We were pretty uncomfortable the first two nights because of the how warm and humid it was. I knew there was no a/c and thought that since it was at the top of the mountain it would be cooler. I guess I'm saying our family needs a more stable environment during the summer that an a/c can provide.
