Beautiful, romantic, memorable stay.
The apartment is beautiful with a piano and marble kitchen table. Beautiful wooden kitchen counter with gorgeous tableware and authentic kitchen utensils.
The balcony has morning and afternoon sun but not evening sun. The balcony has space for a small table and two chairs if you wish.
The property is airy and easy to ventilate.
The bedroom is up an extremely steep ladder through the roof. Me and my small poodle used the entrance to the bedroom trough the common staircase since there where nobody else in the building at the time of our stay.
Bring candles, some music, wine, a lot of fresh ingredients and food aand enjoy! This is an adventure back in time.

The main road is only open between 06:30 and 08:45 in the morning and 18:00-21:00 in the evening due to construction (July 2025).
This is important to note and check before you book in case it will impact the function/practicality of your stay.
There is no netting/mosquito nett in the windows, this would be a great improvement to the apartment.
There wasn’t a lot of mosquitoes, mostly flies so this is not a big problem. The netting would improve the ability to air out the apartment and cause more comfort when cooking in the evenings.

A unique experience in a stunning part of the country. Given that we have travelled a lot, it does take a lot to impress us. But, we were entirely unprepared how stunningly beautiful the town is located. Nestled in the mountains, with views to die for, it did not seem like a big compromise that there is no shop (but a bar) in the town itself, as it is rather remote. The town is however big enough to be able to take a stroll through the quaint old town and has emergency medical services right on site, if needed.
The people of the town and also the host are extremely friendly and do go the extra mile. Even though we did not arrive during normal opening hours we got to take a private tour of the castle.
The playground that our kids had all to themselves was directly in front of the house and because there is hardly any traffic, the kids were able to play, while we cooked dinner. I suspect that the house will soon become a family's favorite.
The house itself is lovely and decorated with such attention to detail that it is hard not to like it. Even though it has been thoughtfully modernised, the historic charm of the house has not been lost, and you feel right at home, especially in the huge live-in kitchen/living room with the balcony that offers views over the nearby hills.

Mot much that there is not to like about All'ombra dell castello. If anything, then the master bed was too soft.
The bathroom partly has a low ceiling, which did not bother us very much, but is good to be aware of.

The apartment was very old and charming. It was comfortable too. Parking was convenient. We stayed there in order to visit Cinque Terre. A neighbor explained how to get to Cinque Terre and it wasn’t too difficult. We liked this village because it was remote and away from the crowds.
We would have liked to have WiFi in the apartment. The village, though very small, is noisy. A garbage truck came to town every night at 3:00 am and made a lot of noise. There are a lot of barking dogs all day and night. The church bell sounds the hour until midnight; it would be nice if it stopped at 10:00 pm. We heard all of this noise because we had to keep the windows open since the weather was warm.
