About this cabin rental

Nestled in Northport, this charming cabin for $260 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. ...The camp (Maine for cabin) is situated on Pitcher Pond -- a long, lovely pond, perfect for swimming/kayaking/canoeing -- in Northport, ME, midway between Belfast and Camden, Maine, on the western coast of Penobscot Bay. It is located one mile off of Beech Hill Rd (paved) on Whitehead Rd. (dirt road, navigable with normal car). The camp has two bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed and one with two single beds. It has a large, open kitchen with a dining room table. The living room has two parts and also is spacious, feeling especially so because of an atrium ceiling, with two couches and one day bed. So the camp sleeps 4. There's a wood stove. The back of the camp, including the kitchen and living area, face out to Pitcher Pond. The camp is fully furnished and includes WiFi, canoe, and kayak. Cleaning is provided; trash removal is required (at the local dump). I rented this cabin with my husband and our 3 kids. We were only able to spend one night and then had to leave due to the state of the house. The house was dirty, there was mold on the walls and ceiling, there were dirty wet towels and laundry in the bathroom, the faucet in the bathroom didn’t work, and someone dumped the contents of BBQ on the porch and left it. The internet did not work. When we arrived we found the house dirty and gross. We called the owner and he said he would send someone to help but they didn’t show up until the next day and when they did they didn’t fix anything. The place was in terrible shape. We had to leave due to the mold and the filth and the owner wouldn’t give us a refund. Never stay here the place is not well maintained and dirty and the owner is unhelpful and rude.

My husband and I hadn't been back to beautiful Pitcher Pond in nine years as the camp we used to rent for a week each summer no longer was available. We were thrilled to find John's property right in the same "neighborhood" as our previous rental. John's camp was spacious, comfortable, and had a great covered porch where we could get some shade on a hot afternoon. John left an amazingly detailed fact sheet about the property and the surrounding towns so guests easily can navigate the local area. Also, John was a responsive host, readily available to answer any kind of question.

Flies were a problem for us. Killing flies became annoying in that I thought something may have been attracting them even with the windows closed; on the avg. of 6/8 per day ; screen tape was used to tape over holes where they were placed; our trash was taken outside daily; & I went to the trash center each Tue & Thurs. to ensure cleanliness. I left 3 extra trash passes at the cottage as well. The shower handle came off in my & my wife’s hand more that once; very quirky. Drain in the tub was extremely slow upon evacuation of water. Dust was visible on lamp shades & in Corners of some of the rooms walls. Carpets under the beds need vacuuming with pillow feathers underneath. We feel for the cost charged for cleaning was not worth the charge. Regardless of these concerns, we loved being on Pitcher Pond.

Pitcher Pond peace and quiet
Pitcher Pond peace and quiet
We had a great two weeks at the camp on Pitcher Pond. Except for the call of the loons, eagles, frogs and fish, all was serene. Ok a few motorboats! Our family who live locally stopped by for a swim and some dinners and enjoyed the incredible sunsets. This place is Maine perfected!
