We recently stayed at Borgo Venecca and had a mixed experience. While there were some definite positives, the property fell short of expectations in a few key areas—especially considering the price.
Let’s start with the good. The location is fantastic—tucked away in the quiet countryside, yet just a short drive from Talamone. It’s peaceful and scenic, exactly what you’d hope for in this part of Tuscany. The pool is also a major plus; it’s well-maintained and a wonderful amenity to have on hot days. We also really appreciated that the air conditioning in our apartment worked perfectly, which made a huge difference for comfort.
The staff were another highlight—friendly and kind.
Unfortunately, the rooms themselves are where the property loses points. The apartments are dated and clearly in need of maintenance. The electrical outlets, for example, were old and felt unsafe—most of them didn’t even work. The bathroom was far too small for four people, and there was an overuse of plastic throughout the unit that gave it a cheap, impersonal feel. There was also a general lack of attention to detail that you’d expect from a place in this price range.
While the pool and location are lovely, the room conditions brought the overall value down.
All in all, it’s an okay stay if you plan to spend most of your time outdoors and just need a base. But if you’re looking for comfort, quality, or a bit of charm inside the apartment itself, you might want to adjust your expectations.
