About this house rental
This newly renovated lakehouse is conveniently located on the quiet and serene Lake Dutchess, just 1 hour 20 min away from NYC. Lake Dutchess is a quiet and serene non-motorized lake, perfect for a weekend getaway! Whether you want to kayak in the spring, bbq and swim in the summer, go apple-picking and enjoy the fall foliage, or cozy up by the fire in the winter, this lakehouse is the perfect retreat all year round! The house was recently gut renovated, and is fully equipped to accommodate up to 6 people. It has a full chef's kitchen, gas fireplace, washer/dryer, cable tv and wifi. There is a BBQ on the deck overlooking the lake. The kitchen is stocked with everything a chef will need to put on a show! The house also has a private dock with swimming platform, 4 kayaks with paddles, life jackets, fishing rods and a 12ft shuffle board. The main floor has air conditioning, and all bedrooms have ceiling fans and localized heating. Additional amenities include wifi, cable, Beekman 1802 toiletries, high-quality bedlinens, towels and blankets. The lakehouse is located a mile off of I84 and is a quick 1 hour 20 minute drive from midtown Manhattan. You can also take Metro North's Harlem Line to the Southeast station , which is 10 minutes away. Local Attractions include: Beacon (Dia Museum, art shops, restaurants), Storm King, Cold Spring (antique shopping, cafes), Dover Springs, Brewster, Carmel. There are a ton of local hiking trails that have been ranked some of the best in the country. We are just a short drive from the Appalachian Trail, Breakneck Ridge, The Beacon Reservoir and The Fire Tower trails. For kids, we are close to Splashdown Beach water park, and several great local farms and orchards for apple, peach, berry, vegetable and pumpkin picking, and maple syrup tasting! Full details are included in your welcome packet. For our family visitors, we have a Stokke high chair and baby gate for the stairway, and a full size crib, all available upon request. The kitchen is equipped with kids plates, bowls, and toddler/baby cutlery. We also have two swings below the deck, one standard park style and one bucket style for babies. Please note the incline down from the house to the lake is steep, so please contact me to discuss further if you have concerns about mobility. The age requirement to book is 28. Due to the septic capacity, we have a maximum occupancy of 6 people.

My adult family of 6 visited this lovely home the last weekend in Oct to celebrate my 65th birthday. Fortunately for us the weather was superb, and we were excited to be vacationing at this beautiful house on a private lake. The online pictures were appealing but did not do this home justice. From the moment we walked in and took in the incredible views of the lake from the gorgeous kitchen windows a feeling of calm, peace and awe came over us. The fall foliage surrounding the lake was at peak and the sun glistening down on the water was mesmerizing. We had found the perfect spot to relax and enjoy our time together. Lucky us!
Then we took in the beautiful chef’s kitchen and warm, tasteful and inviting decor of the home and how immaculate it had been kept. This home did not feel like the typical vacation rental, but rather like we were staying in someone’s personal space and using their quality items and furnishings, and that was very much appreciated. Rebecca was the perfect host and was most thoughtful, attentive and responsive to our needs.
We began our weekend hiking in nearby Pawling Nature Reserve followed by cocktails on the deck watching the sunset on the lake. We cooked a nice dinner, had a shuffleboard tournament, and played other games later. The next day we walked around the lake, kayaked the lake, had cocktails on the dock and cooked another amazing dinner and played even more games. We had such a great time and can’t wait to return!

Idyllic lakeside home. Absolutely beautiful views to the lake from almost anywhere in the house. The six of us, my husband and I, and friends all enjoyed the quiet, relaxing comfortable, and clean home. We stayed here in 2021, enjoyed the home, and came back. We will visit again. Few suggestions: remove downstairs carpeting, update upstairs tub, and few other small details to keep this home pristine and gorgeous. Thank you Rebecca.

Beautiful stay on Lake Dutchess. House was completely renovated and included all the basics for cooking and relaxing. Spent a lot of time fishing from the private dock, playing board games and enjoying the serenity.

The house is in a perfect location on the water and very quiet. The owners didn’t miss anything in preparing their home for guests. Very clean, great kitchen with lots of dishes, glasses, kitchen utensils, keurig coffee maker plenty of supplies.. Beds are very comfortable with lovely linens and bathrooms have plenty of towels. Lots of comfortable seating inside and out.

We were looking for a peaceful family getaway from NYC. Everything was exactly as advertised in the pictures and description. Communication with the owner was quick and easy. We have very young kids and they had a great time. They especially enjoyed the swings. Quiet and serene lake environment which was exactly what we were looking for. Very much enjoyed our visit.

Unfortunately we were coming to NY due to a funeral. I made that clear when we booked the home. Due to others flying in as well and aligning all our plans we had to book this very quickly.
The night before we were to fly out the smoke in NY from the Canadian wild fires became to bad for us to fly into due to my son and husband having asthma. We were devastated to miss the funeral of our dear friend but felt it was our only option. When I told the owner/manager the response was “They were sorry but they depend on every rental due to them being a small business. I could have gotten the insurance and they would have taken care of it”. We asked if we could have a credit to return another time. We were given no response. As a last resort we asked if others flying in could stay she said yes so obviously she got the message about the credit and refused to acknowledge it. At this point everyone had arrangements so we paid for a home that sat empty which just added to the pain of the entire situation.
My advice if your looking at staying here is hope you don’t need to be shown any compassion during your trip because you won’t be given any.

We had a wonderful stay at Rebecca's Lake house. The place was spotless and the attention to detail was remarkable.. The beds were comfortable and the furniture was perfect.. Lake house is well equipped and everything was new..Communication with the owner was also very efficient and timely. The View of the lake and how comfortable we felt here is something we will miss.. This place exceeded our expectations and was even better than the pictures!! We highly recommend it!

We had a great weekend despite some sketchy weather. The house was more than you could ask for. Beautiful, spotless and everything that you need. Well equipped kitchen, toiletries, games and outdoor equipment. We paddled around the beautiful lake and I caught fish from the dock every day. We really enjoyed the shuffle board table, listening to music and enjoying a cocktail. We will definitely stay here again next time we're in the area.

Stayed here when it was cold and rainy but had good internet and plenty of games for the kiddies. Absolutely love the dock and there are kayaks provided which we didn't use since it was cold. My kids are young and caught two large mouth bass on kiddie poles the first day.

It was a beautiful unit in a great location for rest and peace. If you into water sports like kayaking and fishing you would love it. Great place for that price. Two families with 1-2 kids can comfortably stay. 2 bedrooms upstairs and two downstairs.

This quiet lakeside retreat home is a newly renovated and thoughtfully appointed place - perfect for 6 people. The deck with grill, the lakeside seating, and the use of kayaks provides outdoor activities. The owner offers good suggestions for businesses and restaurants in the area.

We enjoyed this house very much. It was very clean and the kitchen had everything that we needed. 4 kayaks and plenty of fishing poles. We hope to return next fall.

The interior of this home is absolutely lovely and has pretty much everything you might need. The open floor plan on the main floor was great for cooking meals and playing with our little kids, and we loved eating on the back deck at dinnertime. The bedrooms and bathrooms were all very comfortable, well-furnished, and super clean. Kayaking on this lake was perfect for our little kids - they loved all the birds, and it was great not to worry about larger motor boats at all. The side yard is nice but just beware that it is on a hill so yard games are not really an option. Also, lots of geese visit the property so you may need to clean geese poop up every now and then (same situation on the dock). The lake is extremely quiet - we saw very few other people while there so it makes for a peaceful getaway. It is important to know, though, that the lake itself is not well-maintained enough for swimming or going into the water. It has a very mucky and muddy bottom (sort of bog-like), and there is a lot of vegetation. Some of the waterfowl are also clearly infected, because two of us got swimmer's itch from a very short dip in the water. If you just want to kayak or fish, this won't really be a problem, but I wouldn't recommend doing any kind of shore play or swimming. Overall, it's a very beautiful home on a quiet, peaceful lake, and we enjoyed our visit!

My family stayed for 4 nights for a getaway and had a fantastic time.
The house is nicely decorated and contains everything you need. Fully stocked kitchen, board games, some sports equipment, kayaks, and fishing rods and tackle. Everything was very clean and in excellent condition.
The lake is pristine with not too many houses and a family of swans that swim around all day. We enjoyed kayaking around the lake. Another reviewer claimed you could catch hundreds of fish in the lake, but we caught only two in four days so your mileage may vary.
Rebecca was very responsive to any questions we had.

We enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing vacation at Rebecca's lake house. Unassuming on the outside, the house was meticulously appointed on the inside. Modern, cozy furnishings plus everything else you could think of. We enjoyed a wonderful family vacation that included kayaking, cooking, take-out and Storm King. Thank you , Rebecca! Cliche but the pictures do not do this property justice. The house is exquisitely appointed in every detail. Everything is brand new and it’s surprisingly wide open layout. Every appliance and fixture is top of the line. Another review commented on the A/C but I promise we were there on one of the hottest days of the year and downstairs remained cool. The lake is so quiet we only saw one person and they were nice enough to give us some fishing tips. Caught some bass and pike. The only less than perfect thing and it’s of no fault of the owner is that the lake has a lot of vegetation which you need to get past in order to cool off. The ducks and geese also love the dock so it needs a rinse every now and again. The house and views will blow you away it’s quick skip from NYC. Absolutely spotless home and the owner was sweet enough to leave us some wine with a binder of ins and outs.

We had an amazing week relaxing and kayaking on the lake! Beautiful sunsets and serene surroundings. Extremely comfortable and immaculate home. Short distance to fun walking towns and attractions. Communication with Rebecca was excellent. Highly recommend this property!

Our family, 4 adults , stayed at this house on Dutchess Lake. The house was very clean and very comfortable. A beautiful home which was well appointed and accommodated our needs for a relaxing get away. The host was accessible and helpful when needed. We would definitely return.

We stayed at this property over the Memorial Day weekend and had a fantastic time. House is very clean and well taken care of, kitchen is stocked with all the necessities. Lake is just beautiful, very tranquil with birds galore. Perfect for nature lovers. We absolutely loved it!

We were able to rent this far in advance. The pictures online are a terrific representation of the property. Everything is new, clean, functional, and beautiful! A few things to note. There is a separate game table for 4 with several games, including a nice scrabble board. There are actually four beds in this house, so if you have 6 people, they don’t all have to be couples. We were surprised, though, that there were two bedrooms down a steep flight of stairs. That’s a plus and a minus (potentially). The plus is it’s like a whole separate apartment except for the kitchen, so it allows some upstairs vs downstairs privacy. The minus is just that you need to be able to move luggage up and down, as well as get yourself up and down the stairs. We were traveling with older people, so it could have been an issue for us and just would have been good to know ahead of time. There is a beautiful deck with a view of the lake and there are geese that hang out on the property. Very serene and quiet. The owner was gracious with our request to potentially stay longer and she quickly located a cross that we had lost while there. The only real issue we had was the presence of numerous horseflies. If you can tolerate that (and bring a flyswatter) this is really an ideal place to stay.

Perfect Family Getaway!
This property was spectacular - it is a rare case where it is even better in person than in the pictures. The host was extremely attentive / responsive and the house was not only immaculate but fully stocked with everything you would need. Great open kitchen and massive family dining table if you love to cook.
House is extremely spacious, with amazing lake views. We went in the winter for a snowboarding weekend as the property is 10 minutes from Thunder Ridge (great for beginners). However, will probably make plans to go back over the summer to take advantage of the lake, kayaks, fishing, deck & grill!

Great getaway
Rebecca’s place is excellent. Right on the lake, quiet, had everything we could need, clean. It’s listed as a three bed, but there’s a fourth bedroom with a curtain so there more space than it appears in the listing. Communicating with Rebecca could not have been easier and helpful. Highly recommend.
