Southport Island is close enough to Boothbay but also has its own restaurants and sites. Robinson’s Wharf, Cozy's Dockside and Newagen Inn are highly recommended restaurants on the island. Hendricks Head Beach is located on the west side of the island. Sailing, boating and kayaking are spectacular activities in and around the island. If you want to venture off the island, the Boothbay Harbor Region has extensive nature trails, lake swimming (Knickerbocker Lake), golfing, an aquarium and one of the best Botanical Gardens in the country.
