Modern, clean, and very quiet and comfortable, yet very close to central city

The property is impeccably clean, both common areas and the room. Certain staff were particularly friendly and attentive. The room was very attractive, particularly the main light. The bathroom was particularly attractive; however, the two sizeable steps from the bedroom to the bathroom (which had a raised floor and higher ceiling) were a bit awkward.
I liked the location, though some may find it slightly too far from the bustling zocalo.
Initially, I was disappointed with breakfast: two slices of cold toast, hard butter, budget quality jam, weak American coffee, the tiniest amount of cereal with yoghurt, and some fruit. However, there is a choice of hot items, and the items I chose on both mornings were excellent.
My room (three) has pleasant views overlooking an extensive plant nursery on the other side of the road.
At times I felt (or was made to feel?) somewhat uncomfortable as a low-level Spanish speaker.
On the first night, in particular, I felt uncomfortable on a number of fronts. The weather was mild, and there was no need for either a fan or air-con; however, the room has sealed windows and was totally airless. Also, there were various noise issues: from traffic coming up the incline to stop at the traffic lights outside my window, and from noise in the nearby lobby and corridor. Finally, I didn't feel comfortable with aspects of security: my room's windows were partially covered in metal bars; guests are required to be let in and out of the property by hotel staff, and guests are locked in at the front gate overnight, so that, for example, it took me well over five minutes after breakfast to get out of the hotel.

Breakfast was good and the lady who cooked was so nice and charming.
The guy who welcomed us was not wearing a mask although we did. A no go in these times. No matter what you think about covid, it's a must for a professional hotel.
Besides it was too close at the street which was so noisy. So we couldn't sleep well and at 6.am the night was over.
