The lakefront location couldn't be better. Panoramic views of the lake from a span of windows were quite stunning. The dock and canoe were great allowing us to easily get on the lake for a paddle, which we did multiple times over our two-day stay. However, we took off two stars from this review primarily for the condition of the property. When we arrived we were at first baffled to find a way to the lower level from the main level and discovered them through the garage. There are multiple deferred maintenance issues, most significantly evidence of roof leaks in the kitchen ceiling with paint and drywall damage. Also, and of most concern was the condition of the upper deck where we grilled and ate dinner on our last night. Deck boards are in poor condition with nail heads protruding in many locations. With young children, we were concerned their bare feet could be injured. This could easily (and should have been) repaired ahead of our stay. We also had trouble starting the dishwasher on the morning we were trying to wash dishes. There were no instructions beyond the cryptic, inadequate ones on the unit. We ended up having to leave unwashed dishes in the sink. This could/should have been addressed in the house instructions. Lastly the overall cost. With all the added fees and taxes this stay ended up costing us over $500 per night. For that amount of $$ we would have expected everything to be in top condition. As shared above, they were not.

Great place. Loved sitting on the deck along with using the boats and swimming in the lake. So quiet during the week. Enjoyed watching the wildlife too. Anderson Island is wonderful. Love all the history, too.

Loved the layout. The beds were awesome. Couldn’t get the tv downstairs to work. The railing on the upstairs deck was very scary. Sitting on the lower deck watching the water roll by was soo relaxing. We enjoyed the peacefulness and will definitely be back. The restaurant down the street was amazing and their customer service was 5 stars.

My kids were too loud for this little get away as the neighbors kept complaining about the noise they made. They probably dreaded every moment we were there. My kids we’re having so much fun falling out of the boat and swimming at the dock. It was STILL a great experience for them. The lady was yelling at my kids that “this is a QUIET PLACE!!!.”But despite of all that, my kids and I still had an Awesome experience at the beautiful home. Even Riding the Ferry back and forth was an experience within its self. Restaurants and stores were closed by 8pm. My kids enjoyed that they were able to ride the back of the truck. Just sucked that they couldn’t make noise LOL! But it was definitely an overall great experience. We took pictures and made some long lasting memories. My family was way too loud for this trip. But the island life was a great way to quiet things down a bit. The home was so beautiful and accommodating. We LOVED IT!!! Veronica, the host, was always just a text or phone call away. Thank you

We had a nice weekend at Harpers on the lake spending time together as a family before the craziness of fall begins. Loved the private dock on the lake. Brought our paddle boards and enjoyed the canoe and rowboat, played games, and went out to dinner at the restaurant just down the road. Amenities were comfortable. Not noted in description but accessing the basement requires going through the garage. Just to note, heading home on the ferry on Labor Day requires a bit of a wait.😉 We lucked out and after sitting in line 3 hours a ferry showed up that was not on the schedule which saved us another hour wait!

I stayed here with a group of 4 BFF's and we just kept commenting how beautiful and peaceful it was at this lake house. The spacious deck allowed us to have our meals, visit and do our craft projects while viewing the gorgeous Lake Josephine. It was an extra surprise to see a Mama Deer and her baby wander through the yard a couple of times. There were also bald eagles flying over for entertainment. A great getaway that we will remember forever! The house and amenities were more than we could ask for. Thank you, owners, for sharing this beautiful home with us.

The view is perfection. Could use work....
The view is perfection. Could use work....
The view and location are perfection. The house is lovely, lots of space, fully equipped. Could use a little work. The deck railings feel very unstable and the bathroom vents are completely clogged with years of dust and gunk. The toilet in the master also feels unstable and needs to be better secured. That being said, we would still absolutely stay again.
