Mouldy place painted over to disguise it, worst stay ever on booking.com!!!!
It was one of the very few places left during the most popular summer holiday season in Korea, so it's not that we chose the place because we had much choice. It looked ok in the pictures, but reality turned out to be something of a real nightmare.
The biggest problem this place has is the absolute overpowering and disgusting smell of MOULD. There is no mould to see in the main room, but the smell was awful. Despite having the aircondition on it did not go away. Same with the towels, I was using my own because I was about to throw up from the smell of them. The bathroom was very old, the shower on top of the sink (which, however, seems to be something standard for old houses in Korea), and all the bathroom silicone impermeabliziation was mouldy as well. My partner got a cough from the smell and said it hurted his lungs (we are not paranoid about health issues, quite the contrary!) and I was so disgusted I skipped both lunch and breakfast. It was so bad I was seriously considering sleeping in our rental car. And all that for being by far the most expensive place in all our 3 weeks in Korea!!!
I complained to booking and they put it as if we were only sort of picky about the smell and that the place claimed they had recently renovated. Yes, they probably did, but all they did was painting over the mould to disguise it! This is an insult to any customer, both from booking and the place. I have been in mouldy places and I had renovated a mouldy house when I was a poor student many years ago, I know what I am talking about.
This is a 1 star rating not only for the accomodation, but also for the "customer service" of booking. We're seriously considering booking the rest of our travel on some other platform. Stay away from this place and think twice about booking with booking.com, if something goes wrong they don't care (apart from the fact that contacting the customer service itself by internet is terrible, calling them as they suggest is not an option if you pay 3€ a minute calling from outside Europe)!
