What a wonderful place
What a wonderful place
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mas Palmas! Our kids loved playing in the pool, the open air kitchen and living space were great, and the bedrooms cool and comfortable. Uvita is two minutes away and the local beaches and restaurants were lovely. Finally, Sarah made our stay easy, with good recommendations and she was really helpful as we struggled to rearrange our trip and get home in the midst of border closures. When this has all passed, book yourself a ticket to Costa Rica and stay at Mas Palmas.

This was an absolutely stunning property. The pool and surrounding jungle were a great place to relax and look for wildlife. We happened to go at the time of year that cidades breed in the area. They create quite an orchestra during the day which caught us off guard at first, but we quickly adjusted to the noise. They became a running joke through the stay >:P the hosts were easy to contact and we had a truly unforgettable stay. Thank you Sarah and Logan for opening up your home for us to enjoy

Jungle dreams
Jungle dreams
We recently stayed at Sarah and Logan's home in Uvita with a family of 4 - and we LOVED it. After travelling extensively through costa rica we can honestly say this was our favourite home. It checked all our boxes - spacious pool, well-equipped kitchen, comfy beds, effective fans/A/C, wifi, and a spectacular connection with the jungle. Our boys were thrilled to regularly see capuchins, toucans, jesus christ lizards, hummingbirds and lots of noisy insects ;) We actually preferred this house to the one we stayed at the week previously which had spectacular ocean views. This home is perfectly situated on the property to capture the best connection with the surrounding jungle and also the best shading from the intense late day heat. Besides that there are a lot of little thoughtful things - nightlights everywhere, phone charging cables, beach chairs, a cooler, new linens, lots of towels. The area is great if you are into beaches, surfing or wildlife. We surfed at Dominical (15 minute drive), Dominicalito, Hermosa, and Colonia (10 minute drive). We drove an hour to Manuel Antonio and saw sloths and monkeys. You can also access Corcovado or Cano Island with an hour and a half boat ride from Uvita. The snorkelling off of Cano was amazing. Lots of good restaurants within a 15 minute drive from the house as well. The kids enjoyed interacting with Amber the dog, and the house was tidied daily by Melania (caretaker). Overall we really felt at home here and would love to return one day. Pura Vida.

My husband, one-year old daughter, and myself stayed in this beautiful home for five weeks. The home is exactly as described, if not better. We have stayed in many VRBOs and this is by far the most well appointed home we've ever rented. We cooked almost every day; the appliances are stellar and we wanted for nothing in terms of utensils and cookware. The bedrooms all have firm, nice beds and the air conditioning units work extremely well. Now for the fun part...if you are visiting Costa Rica for wildlife then this house is your dream rental! Several times a week we saw monkeys making their way across the trees in the backyard. One afternoon as I was doing the dishes, I looked up and to my utter delight there was a sloth right in front of my eyes making his way down a tree, no binoculars required! We also saw countless birds, including toucans and hummingbirds on a weekly basis. The only animals we were not fond of were the cicadas, since they could be quite loud, but from what I was told we were there during an unusually prominent season for them. I can't say enough good things about Melania, the home's caretaker. By the time we left, she felt like family. Our daughter caught the flu during our stay, and Melania came over with soup and Jello the same evening. Another night, we ran out of propane while cooking and within 20 minutes Melania had someone over at the house refilling the tank--problem solved. The owners Sara and Logan are also lightening quick to respond to any issues and were extremely easy and friendly to communicate with before and during our stay. The town of Uvita is much less touristy than some other areas, but still surprisingly has more than enough stellar dining options and two good supermarkets. Also, about a five minute drive from the house is a cool hotel (Vista Ballena) that has stunning sunset views and a good bar. Our favorite beaches were Hermosa, Pinuela and Ventanas (this one has rental lounge chairs with canopy tents for around $13). If you are contemplating visiting Costa Rica with an infant, don't hesitate. Everyone was super welcoming (even at nice restaurants) of our daughter and we felt totally safe everywhere we went with her. I would not hesitate to stay at this VRBO again. I'm already missing the wonderful weather and daily sense of adventure we felt during our time here. Thank you!!!

Perfectly luxurious, authentic Costa Rican home!
Perfectly luxurious, authentic Costa Rican home!
Wonderful experience! This home was the perfect balance of luxury and authenticity for our vacation in southern Costa Rica. Open-air living room means a pool?! Yes please. And each bedroom has A/C and a nice bathroom/shower. We felt right at home in the jungle setting as the monkeys swung past and toucans hung out in the trees. You can even see the ocean through a pocket view through the trees! The road and driveway are well maintained and within a neighborhood so the home is easily accessible despite being uphill in the mountainside. Very secluded for a majestic and private experience but only very short 5 minute drive to the beach or to town to grab a cappuccino, lunch or a nice dinner. There's an on-sight house keeper in the guest house and the owners were extremely friendly and accessible by phone as well. Highly highly recommend this home for a truly authentic Costa Rican experience without sacrificing luxury and modern amenities!

The view of the ocean is about 1/2 inch through some trees off on the horizon. Other homes on VRBO that say “ocean view” legitimately have a beautiful view of the ocean. This home has a view of trees, and more trees. It is pretty, but it is definitely not ocean view. The home is well cared for. A problematic point of the property is the dog, which although he is well loved, is not ideal for vacationers. His continual barking through the night was tiring. It was recommended by the owner we use ear plugs. We felt having to use earplugs while on vacation in the jungle at a supposed “ocean view home” was ironic and not conducive to relaxing, sleep filled nights. The owner did her best to handle some issues we had that were out of her control. (A large swarm of bees so large that the fire department had to come and we had to evacuate the premises for an entire day) Overall the home is nice. Pool is small but sufficient. Air conditioning works well in the rooms. We never had the TV working and it would have been nice to have living room furniture you can actually sit back and be comfortable relaxing on.
