Arrived 4/1 to find out the shuttle wasn’t running and the pool was closed but I called before my trip and was told it would be open 4/1. I never complain or write reviews but I had to on my experience. The hotel is very out dated not very clean. One elevator was working which was an inconvenience to all guest. I arrived on Monday and checked out Friday and the floor was never cleaned in the restaurant by the elevator the same candy wrapper was on the floor and never cleaned along with the dirt for the duration of my stay, I left safe in the hotel but it needs a modern renovation. There are patients and family members that stay here before procedures at the hospital and they deserve a clean and sanitized stay. I won’t be returning to this location on future visits to Charleston.

Must keep an open mind. We were there for a 1 night stay as our son was visiting The Citadel. This was the most inexpensive hotel in the area and it was still very much over priced for what it was. The rooms were clean, but the open mind comes in when it comes to OLD hotel. One elevator was broken, hallway walls are a little separated, carpets behind front desk were disgusting. Our room was clean and comfortable, but again old and a bit runned down. We had no choice but to book this hotel as all others were $500+ a night and this one was $300. We literally needed a place to sleep and shower. This hotel should be due for a remodel. The receptionist was nice but thats about it. Even on the 10th floor you can hear the road noise. Slept with TV on so it could drown it out. Overall, the hotel served its purpose for us. But clearly overpriced, if I were to pay $89-$119, it would be acceptable in this condition. But not at $300+ per night.

Paid for a room with a view and balcony but the door doesn’t open to the balcony so that was a bust. The rooms are very small, the bathroom light kept going on and off so be prepared to shower mostly in the pitch black unless you leave the bathroom door open for light. When I advised the young lady at the front desk she was inattentive and didn’t even double check my room number so I don’t think she actually notated the issue.
In addition, pulling out of the parking lot is dangerous because of how heavy and fast the traffic is, I do not recommend this location.

The beds were nice. The balcony was for view only. The doors do not open. The pool was also seasonally closed, but we did not know that before checking in. It limited the appeal of staying outside of town/across the bridge. The have a free shuttle service that took us to downtown which was nice.

The balconies are screwed closed, so that's pointless to get those rooms. I found a roach in the bathroom, so I called the front desk but they didn't really care. The ceiling was peeling like water damage in our room. The hotel has a great view of the harbor and the city, if you're on that side of the hotel. There's a restaurant on the top floor with panoramic views, but it's pricey. Waffle house is next door, so that helps. It's kinda hard getting in and out because, the roads are very busy and surround the property. The bed was comfy, and they have Dove toiletries to use. The staff was nice, and there's lots of parking.

We stayed here for a staycation and to have fish and chips in their restaurant that in our opinion, has the best view of Charleston. It didn't disappoint! Had a great stay, and fish and chips were pretty tasty as well. Room was clean and comfortable. Had a great stay!

Check in process was fast and easy. I paid for a room with a “scenic view” of the water and the window (that used to be a sliding glass door to the balcony that was screwed shut) was so dirty, it was difficult to see out. A waste of the extra money paid. There were signs of water damage on ceiling. The place needs a good thorough cleaning and dehumidification.

Room was clean and comfortable. Location was good for my planned activities. Restaurant in the hotel was very convenient and the food was good .

Bed sucked, pitted on each side with a hump in the middle so the sleep was horrendous.

Check-in was ok. Staff was friendly but not overly professional. Forgot to give us our breakfast vouchers.
Half of the restaurant was closed, putting us in the over crowded and loud bar area. They were understaffed and I did not get the drink I ordered. Staff was pleasant but too busy.
Rooms were adequate. Needed some maintenance. Mattress was getting worn and pillows were lumpy.
Nothing was horrible. Nobody was rude. But I'll look for something nicer for that rate next time.

Great place and amazing view. Older hotel so it’s not the fanciest but the staff was great and can’t beat the location or price. Easy access to drive to all the things.

We got off our cruise early and went straight to the hotel to drop off our luggage. The front desk staff were amazing. They let us keep our luggage in their back office until the room was ready.
I did use the restroom in the front lobby and I thought it was beautiful and very clean.
We were going to spend some time on Market St. and have lunch. We're about to request a Lyft when the front desk informed us that they have a shuttle that would take us there. This was an unexpected perk that made us happy. The shuttle driver dropped us off and said that he would be there to pick us up at quarter to the hour every hour from 9:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m.
After we had lunch we got a phone call that our room was ready and we returned back.
After getting our luggage and our room card we went up to the 14th floor. We were staying in a king suite with a view.
Upon opening the door my mouth dropped open. This was a huge and beautiful room. So nicely decorated and very comfortable. We could not wait to take a nap in the giant bed with the pillow top. It was so comfortable that we almost missed our 7:30 p.m. Ghost tour.
Front desk people in the afternoon and evening were just amazing. The gentleman who checked us out at 4:30 in the morning was hilarious and in great spirits for that early in the morning.
We cannot wait to come back to Charleston and stay here. Why pay top dollar to stay in downtown when you can stay here and get more bag for your buck not to mention free shuttle rides.

I liked the reasonable price of the room & the location. The hotel itself could use some updating. While the beds were comfortable & the linens appeared to be clean - the floors were grimy and definitely needed a good mop. The bathroom counters also needed a good wipe down as well as the bathroom. The TVS volume wouldn’t go any lower than 8 - which was pretty loud in my opinion. The telephone wouldn’t work at all - no dial tone, was just overall kind of sketchy.

We had planned to stay 2 nights sightseeing Charleston.
However, on Friday the first day of our stay, We received a phone call stating our home had been broken into and items were missing.
We had to pack in a hurry and out of the hotel Jamie who was on the front desk made our check out simple and when we asked for a refund for our unused night, she said we had booked with a 3rd party and would have to call them. Upon getting home, I did just that and telling them my story. They in turn called the hotel and they symphyied with us .They refunded our unused night. I give them 5 stars Jamie was a huge help

The view from the restaurant was nice. The food at the restaurant was good as well as the service there. The hotel room- toilet kept running, at one point we called for maintenance to come up. We figured out it would eventually stop on it’s on. Before we took a shower we had to run the water several minutes to get it to warm up. The bathrooms in the main public areas were dirty. When you pay that much you expect better.

Located just across the bridge from town, in West Ashley, this hotel is a good option. Free shuttle right to the City Market (which is a good place to start any sort of exploration). Top floor restaurant and bar with a view you'll love!

The hotel has an amazing view of Charleston, located right on the river/bay, there's a very convenient and free shuttle to downtown, just 10 minutes. Panaroma bar /restaurant on the 14th floor.
Unfortunately, some of the convenience comes with a lot of traffic noise. Also, my particular room had a door connecting to the adjoining room and you could hear the other guests talking as if they were in your room.
I would stay here again, just not everyone can handle the noise.

This hotel is in a great location... especially if you are trying to see a student at College of Charleston. Though the hotel is dated. First impression, the sign outside the hotel is missing lights. The lobby was very clean in somewhat modern. But as we got to our room the 6th floor hallway carpeting is old and smells. The hardwood floor work in the bathroom was amateur work. The room smelled drafty and old.

Staff went above and beyond, they are so friendly and were very kind to my kids. Snacks and local beers for purchase, large mini fridge in room, absolutely incredible views of the marsh and Ashley River. We watched an egret fishing for breakfast when we woke up. Saw a wood stork flying south! Breakfast buffet is crisp bacon city with breathtaking views from restaurant/bar and free for kids currently. Don’t sleep either on the chocolate chip waffles at the Waffle House that is a short walk away. Great convenient alternative to downtown with proximity to Folly, Earth Fare, upper King etc.

Top floor restaurant with a view of Charleston was fabulous! Good breakfasts. Shrimp fettuccini and shrimp and grits were good.

Angry at Hotel.com for providing MUSC Hospital discount but at a higher rate than direct from hotel.
NEGATIVE:
The hotel has seen better days. Elevators are banged up as are hallways. Room renovations were sloppy. HVAC unit had separated from the wall and was real noisy. Ice machine on floor didn’t work. Room to room noise was bad including impact noise from floors above. Vehicle exiting towards Charleston center is very dangerous-feeder ramp in nearly blind and cars are accelerating.
POSITIVE:
Despite shoddy renovations, the room was very clean. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was adequate with a nice view of the city.

Great location for a great price. Especially loved the free downtown shuttle (though be prepared for a longer return trip). Fantastic views of the harbor. The hotel was clean & quiet, but it is not definitely not the newest. Great updates to the rooms, but plenty of wear & tear - peeling paint, fraying carpet, curling tile, etc. Really wish there had been at least some continental items available instead of the pricey restaurant. Still, for what it was and what I was looking for, would definitely stay there again!

Very expensive for an inferior property.

The property was nice and the staff was helpful and friendly. The location is convenient and easy to access

Hotel property needs major updates. Door to room was hard to get open and the knob/lock looked messed up. Hotel parking lot needed repairs. Was lighted by a makeshift spot light with a drop extension cord. Room next to us smoked pot the entire time which wafted into our room through the adjoining door option and the final day they were fighting and yelling. Overall the property needs major updating. That being said our room was clean and housekeeping did a great job. Front desk staff was amazing as well, our experience was certainly not their fault.

Walls are too thin and you can hear neighbors and some people need to be considerate about other people and keep the noise down

The property was well maintained. Parking lot close to the front door so felt safe walking to and from the car.

The property was clean but very outdated.

Garbage pickup by truck at 4am. Wakes everyone up.
Very limited average food at restaurant. Poor service at restaurant. Room service was fine. Room finishes poor.

This hotel is convenient and close enough to down town with a shuttle service which we highly recommend.

Came to visit College of Charleston. Every single staff member at this hotel is amazing. The hotel was clean, view was fabulous and breakfast was amazing. We will definitely be back!

Each room appears to have a balcony, the room I was assigned certainly did. And it had a sliding glass door to enjoy the balcony. Was out there 20 seconds when this booming voice from the parking lot screamed for me to go back inside. "Sir, I work here, you have to do what I say". Excuse me? You're talking to a guest like that? If you have a balcony AND a door to that balcony isnt it reasonable to think guests will go enjoy the beautiful Charleston night? If you dont want guests on the balcony please say something at check in, or how about a sign in the room? Seems more than reasonable. I did not appreciate being yelled at as if I were a child, especially with the "you have to do what I say" comment. Made the entire stay less enjoyable than it could have been.
4.0
Decent place, rooms are small. I hope they had more option at the breakfast buffet.

Great views from restaurant and our room!
