Visit there for hiking, biking and driving the park loop road then return to the quiet peacefulness of Western Bay. There is a great beach for swimming, kayaking or just searching for shells, sea glass or watching the seals swim in the bay. Groceries are 15 min away in Ellsworth. Shopping is 20 min. away in Bar Harbor and Schoodic Point is an hour up the coast if you want to explore more coast line.

We stayed here on a trip to spread my husband’s ashes at Cadillac Mt Summit. The cottage has a view of the mountain, which was perfect. In general, the view is spectacular. We enjoyed the different landscapes with the rising and falling of the tides. We agreed this was probably one of the cleanest rentals we’ve ever stayed in. I appreciated the minimalism. The location was perfect for both Acadia and Bar Harbor. The mattresses were firmer than we’re all accustomed to at home. I’d consider getting mattress toppers to add a layer of comfort, but the cottage slept 4 adults comfortably. The owners were very friendly and easy to work with throughout the process. We loved that there was no TV but the internet service was a little spotty at times. Still, it was a good excuse to disconnect from the outside world and simply enjoy each others company. I would recommend this cottage to friends and hope to bring my children one day when they’re a little older.

If you are visiting Acadia and the area look no further and book Emily’s place. The location on the water is beautiful and Emily was the perfect host. The cottage is super clean and has everything you need for a relaxing stay. Conveniently located 20 minutes from Acadia nat’l park. My wife and I highly recommend this rental. Thank you Emily!!

We stopped here for a couple of days on our way to Greenville. The listing was as advertised...clean and well stocked with the most amazing views! My son enjoyed venturing out for sea glass and shells during low tide.The location was perfect for accessing MDI but still having a nice quiet place to come back to. The floor slopes slightly so if you have equilibrium issues be aware. Also, Emily has beautiful friendly dogs that like to come visit...I wish Jack wasn't so skittish but for those of you that have playful dogs, this would be a perfect place to stay!! I would definitely stay here again if visiting MDI in the future!

The cabin was so quaint and easily fit our needs. The view is gorgeous. The backyard was so peaceful and it was amazing to see the changing landscape with the tides. It’s was close enough to Acadia National park and Bar Harbor to enjoy for the day and then be able to get away from the crowds and enjoy the cottage. The only thing missing was a much needed washer and dryer. Besides that it was perfect.

Beautiful setting. We loved our stay. My 9 year old loved exploring on the private beach. So close to everything—Bar Harbor, Acadia, grocery store, restaurants, mini golf, sea kayaking. Perfect spot!

Easily among the top vacation rentals in which we have stayed. The view is amazing! The cottage was the perfect mix of quaint and modern, and was the ideal size for our party of 5. Acadia was easily accessible from the property while also providing enough distance from the crowds. Excellent restaurants close by. Owners were welcoming, friendly and very accommodating. Definitely want to stay here again!

We had a wonderful time with our family enjoying western bay. I grew up only a few miles away so this stay was such a treat! The home was clean and well kept. The beach was perfect for swimming at high and low tide. The kids gathered a few mussels and oysters for breakfast one morning! It stayed nice and cool despite the hot days. It’s darn near perfect and the only thing to make it better would be if there was room for a washer/dryer or access to one on site. We would definitely visit again. Thanks Emily!

We truly enjoyed our stay, this adorable cottage was fully equipped and the view was simply breathtaking. The kids loved being able to explore the cove from the private access. Will definitely recommend and hope to stay again soon.

The property was clean, and it frankly exceeded our expectations, accommodating us perfectly. It was in a beautiful area right on the sea. It was somewhat removed from the national park, which was great because it allowed us to escape the more heavily trafficked areas of Bar Harbor and Acadia, but was still close enough for easy access. Additionally, the hosts were incredibly lovely and attentive.

We had such a nice stay at Emily’s property. It’s well appointed, off the beaten path (which we prefer), and so beautiful & peaceful. We were out and about all day and came back to this ideal spot. We only wish we’d stayed an additional night or two to relax and enjoy the house & beach. Thanks Emily & Bob!

Excellent place to relax, enjoy the best sunrise ever imagined next to tranquil waters as well as enjoy outdoor activities and explore unique nearby locations. Looking for the whole package, there you have it...cleanliness, floor layout, check-in process, communication with the owner, location, literally everything was above fulfilling expectations. Definitely, a place to repeat. Highly recommended!

This property was perfect for our stay. Location was close to the places we wanted to go, but felt like a secluded retreat. The views are stunning, beautiful landscapes, seals, and bald eagles, too! The house is clean, and well furnished. Watching the tides go in and out was fun for our kids, and they are eager to return!

Booked for a quick weekend getaway and was very content with everything! Location on the water was relaxing for sunrises, morning coffee and a book. <25 mins from downtown Bar Harbor and most Acadia entrances. Note: the loft is shaped like a capital “I” and has a two beds. Not really two rooms but we made it work. Would like some appliances updated (tea pot and toaster, specifically). Everything else was provided for and the house is nicely equipped.

My best friend, my border collie, is getting older and his favorite thing to do is go hiking. I've always dreamed of bringing him to Acadia and searching for shells with him along the ocean. Last weekend we got to do just that. The home was quiet, well maintained, and the sunrise was a perfect backdrop for photoshoots of my favorite four-legged friend. It was the perfect distance to Bar Harbor, Acadia, and Ellsworth. Traffic in and out of Acadia this time of year was ideal. Could not have asked for a better weekend. We hope to return someday.

This property was perfect for our stay. Location was close to the places we wanted to go, but felt like a secluded retreat. The views are stunning, beautiful landscapes, seals, and bald eagles, too! Cottage was excellent and my little dogs loved running from the back deck down to beach and water to play!! Although I wish the queen bed was set up in bedroom for adults and the double in the loft for the kids. Other than that it was great! Remember your coffee and laptop if you like entertainment or music!

My husband and I stayed with our German Shepherd for a quick weekend trip. The location of the home is great! Close to Bar Harbor/ Acadia. Our dog absolutely loved the beach/ swimming in the water! This was a lovely property that we should have stayed at longer…unfortunately we could only spend two nights. Definitely not enough time. The house was clean and comfortable. The views spectacular! The owners live next door and we wished we had more time to get to know them and their sweet golden retriever. A very special spot!

This place was even more stunning in person! Would recommend this place hundreds times over. The sunrises are breathtaking and the kids and I could have spent hours when the tide was down hunting for seashells:) Five days just wasn’t enough:)
