place is wonderful, clean and well located
the calm clean streets that make you think that you are in a safe place

For us, it was an optimal location, both to downtown & to TTC. Then there is the "Room", all of them, were wonderful, with a good number of comfortable seating positions. The minibar, though not used, is a nice touch. The towels and bed linens are nice quality, often these are kept beyond their useful lfe.
I was not necessarily surprised that one of the sinks in the ensuite had been broken, but I was surprised that it was so poorly repaired. While the "stocked" fridge was a nice contingency, it would've been nicer to have more space to store leftovers from dinner. Valet parking is nice with a rental, but I prefer to self-park and the lack of hotel options here is terrible.

location is great and the history of the hotel adds to the experience
it’s very run down for a 5 star. and the staff are not 5 star calibre.

The bed was broken, the mattress was bulky and soft.
We barely could fall sleep at all. In the morning we were so sore. No one, should have to pay for this torture!
The front desk did nothing when I advised them considering we stay there often.
The manager that was there when we checked in was amazing but the next day no one cared.
4.0
the location and the people that work there
The Bed was a disaster. The Mattress creaked was lumpy, bumpy and super soft on my side! I called the front desk in the morning and told them. No one called me back to apologize in the morning. There was a manager at the front desk with dark hair and she totally ignored the issue. I woke up at 3 am in pain sore back and hips ….. That mattress must be replaced. I am writing this as it seems like they didn’t care to address it.

The breakfasts were fine and the service was good
On entering the room my partner Penny tried to open the safe to put away her jewelry. The safe had a feature we'd never seen before - a sliding slot for a credit card - but that didn't work. I also tried to change the thermostat to a more familiar Celcius reading, but there was no such setting that I could see. Then Penny tried to turn on the TV but could only get CBC news. When the bellman with our luggage arrived, he could not solve any of these things. The TV was finally put in working order (via a complicated use of two remotes), but we never could get the safe open.
Every hotel I've stayed in the past 15-20 yrs that is rated three stars or above provides bottled water daily for the guests. When I asked if I could get bottled water, they referred me to the pay bar where 250 ml Evian bottles were priced at $5/bottle. We bought our own at a convenience store during our stay. If I wanted ice, I had to call room service and felt obliged to pay a small tip for that of $3-4 dollars.
The maids during our five days there never replaced the soap. We used the same two bars the whole stay. Granted, they were a reasonable size but still... Ditto with shampoo and other bath items.
Finally, when I accidentally demagnetized my room card, I went to the desk to get a replacement. The desk clerk went behind a wall, and after five minutes of hearing her muttering with the other clerk, I asked what the problem was. The other clerk took me up to the room, let me in, and about ten minutes later, came back with a new card. The same thing happened when I tried to use the gym at around 10 am. It was locked so I had to take the elevator back down to the front desk and have someone open it for me.

location and the pool was fun
it would benefit from some TLC

Food was amazing, spa was quiet and pool was so warm! Beautiful lobby and very nice rooms.
Charging for drinking water in a jug (not bottled, flat water) seems like that could be free given the price paid for hotel stay.

I really liked the deor and our room was spacious and the bathroom lovely. I liked the separated toilet.
I did not like that there was not a main floor restroom. When we had breakfast, I had to take the elevator to go to the restroom. At night when we went to the bar for a spanish coffee, they did not have whipped cream but did a milk foam on top. This drink was not very good at all. Breakfast for me was eggs benedict which had a LOT of potatoes and two strawberries and orange slices. I would have preferred more fruit or greenery.

location
The booking.com room says there are 2 queen beds, which we booked for our family. But the room has only 1 bed, and a sofa bed which was not what was advertised. We were told that there is no existing room with 2 queen beds.
The tub is leaking and the carpet outside the bathroom wall gets all wet when the tub is used inside.
Room temperature was too cold. The in-room control does not seem to work properly.
No complimentary bottled water inside the room.
