FishHook is a timeless and unique “Hemingway style” cottage, offering an unforgettable Lake Lanier experience. A “stone’s throw” from the shoreline, this home sits less than 100 feet from the water’s edge at the mouth of a wide cove with deep water and main channel access. A private, two-story double slip dock is just steps away down a gently-sloping, grassed lot and is well-equipped for your stay on the water with plenty of options for lovers of sun and shade. There are both dining and bistro tables, swivel rockers, lounge chairs, and umbrellas, and at the end of the day, make sure you take a leisurely stroll through the 2 acres of Corp-owned property adjacent to our lot and celebrate the sunset! Within minutes of your arrival, you'll realize that FishHook is truly a special place, full of character and nostalgic charm – a one of a kind lake cottage. Extensive stonework highlights the home’s exterior -- accenting a patio, fire pit and summer kitchen -- while the home’s tongue and groove wood interior plays up to an artful blend of vintage and new. Rustic lighting, rich wood and fabric accents, natural fiber rugs, and bamboo occasional pieces have been tastefully blended with new inspiration to create the signature "Hemingway" style. Original brick floors ... vaulted, suspended beam ceiling ... brick fireplace and louvered windows maintain the charm of this quintessential lakeside cottage while granite counter tops, stainless kitchen appliances and new hardwood floors in the bedrooms add a modern flair. You’ll fall in love with the open floor plan and simple living of this single-story cottage. It's a layout that allows you to really enjoy the company of those you call "family". The kitchen, family room and dining room all open onto a spacious 10’ x 30’ screen porch complete with dining table and additional casual seating. The kitchen is fully-equipped, even for the most discerning of chefs, and meals can be served informally at the eat-in island with seating for 5, at the dining table with seating for 6, or alfresco on the porch. There are two beautifully appointed bedrooms – a king master with half bath and flat screen Smart TV and a second bedroom sleeping four in a twin over full bunk and separate twin bed. Indoor amenities include central A/C and heat, wood-burning fireplace, ceiling fans, AT&T U-verse, WiFi, 50" flat-screen Smart TV, DVD player, and stainless dishwasher, stove and refrigerator. Great place. There during cold weather but will be back when we can swim. Close to grocery store. Nice family area with island, stools, and dining table. Meal prep friendly. Well equipped kitchen.

First of all I would like to say the owner Debbie goes out of her way to mKe your stay the best possible. She is kind thoughtful and easy to communicate with.
The lake house was great, it’s very spacious, lots of seating for big families. The beds are comfortable. Screen porch has more seating. The views are great.
The cabin itself is stocked with everything you need. The wood burning fireplace was our highlight. It was so cozy. We will def go back when the weather warms up . Overall it was a wonderful stay. Can’t wait to return.

Beautiful place and location! The greeting upon arrival made it seem more personal even for our pup, nice touch. Comfortable and relaxing, so much that we extended our stay. So glad it was available and was just perfect for an awesome new years celebration, fireworks all around the lake for our viewing pleasure by the fire pit. We highly recommend Fish Hook and plan to return in the future. Thank you Debbie!

We were only able to stay two nights, but loved the house, and wish we had time to stay longer. It was very clean and well stocked with everything you would need. Our dog loved laying out on the screen porch.
We also took full advantage of the great firepit both nights. I highly recommend this place and would definitely book again if staying in the area.

The host welcomed us with a snack and waters in the fridge. The house was very clean and the furniture was nice. The house was well stocked with towels, blankets, cooking and cleaning supplies. There are forks for toasting marshmallows, coolers for drinks and other "party" supplies. We enjoyed our time there, especially mornings on the screened porch.
You will need to bring personal soaps and shampoos.
The walk to the dock is very steep. Definitely bring hiking poles if you have any knee issues. The drive in is one lane so try to get there before dark but we didn't run into anyone else on the road/drive.

My family loved the FishHook cottage on Lake Lanier. It is such a peaceful setting for a vacation. The view of the lake is beautiful.
The cottage is charming and equipped with everything you need for your stay. The fire pit is a nice feature.
The cottage is conveniently located and within an easy drive to restaurants and grocery stores.
Thanks for making our stay in Georgia so special. We hope to return for a longer visit next year.

The location, access, size, amenities were all perfect. We had a fire pit, outdoor swing bench, paddle board, kayak, fishing and swimming access all for our use. The cabin itself can accommodate many for social time with plenty of seating areas. There is a double deck floating dock that hAs even more social seating up top.
Sleeps many, but all share one small shower.
The owners were very welcoming even down to welcoming our little dog with treats. Very thoughtful.

You would never know that pets were allowed at the cottage, everything was super clean. Loved the screened porch & our dog spent lots of time looking out at the lake. It's also very convenient to the Botanical Garden and also restaurants that allow pets. We ate at Skogie's and 2 Dogs - the staff really catered to our dog and we enjoyed the food.

Super clean! The host family could not have been more welcoming and quick to respond to all of our questions. We only left the house once to get out of the heat and our host recommended a perfect Brewery for us to check out and it was perfect. We cannot wait to go back! We stayed at Fishhook cabin for the last two weeks and what a blast! We had our four grandchildren with us and there wasn't a dull moment! They woke early and headed down to the sick to fish and jump off the dock. They swam, went kayaking, and paddle boarded until lunchtime them back out in the evening for more fishing. We rented a boat from Ducky's (Don's a great guy, meets you at a local park for pick up/ drop off, and is much more reasonable then gainsville marina)
And were able to find a spot in the lake close enough to go tubing without getting lost or having to go too far. The grocery store is just a few minutes away for those necessary ice cream runs and Helen is a nice place to visit to take a break from the sun.
Ms. Hemphill was easy to communicate with and replaced a broken table within a day

You can find water sports nearby and hiking and waterfalls, but you can also simply connect with your family without ever leaving the property. This is a quiet place with a deep lake and a phenomenal cabin. Swimming, jumping, diving also in this deep lake, snorkeling, fishing, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding all without leaving the property! Amazing! My 12 and 13 year old and I had what we all agree was the BEST vacation ever! Our second best was Fishhook two years ago!
The Hemphill's are awesome! Debbie is responsive and thoughtful! My12 year daughter Eli and I bought more of the chicken salad from Ingles and she is now bound and determined to make it herself! ❤️
I honestly cannot recommend any other place higher after 15 summers of lake cabins from Wisconsin to Missouri to Tennessee. My kiddos and I are already discussing Fishhook as an every other year escape! We would be there constantly if not for the two day drive!

This was a wonderful place for my family. The location is great. Close to amenities. Debbie was amazing in making sure we were taken care of! My kids said it was the best vacation ever. It’s fairly private, close to the water, and absolutely charming. By far one of the best places we have stayed. It was the complete package.

We had an amazing stay at Fish Hook. The cabin is super cute, comfortable, and clean. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. We loved the screened in porch and fire pit for great conversation, The dock was awesome for fishing, swimming and just hanging out. I loved that there was plenty of comfortable seating both inside and outside. The cabin is also in a quiet beautiful cove which was super relaxing!
Debbie, the host was so easy to work with and made everything very easy for us. Our family definitely enjoyed this beautiful place and hope to return. This VRBO rental is a winner!

Beautiful Lake House on Lake Lanier. We fished, swam, explored the woods and just relaxed. Our dog had so much fun running into the water and cooling off.

Loved this house! Perfect location on a quiet part of the lake. It was extremely peaceful and quiet and we stayed a whole week. Didn't attempt to fish, but did see quite a few while we were there. Took our kayaks and explored the lake. The water was amazing. One of the things I always search for is the cleanliness of the water and this Lake was great. The double dock was where we spent most of our time reading and swimming and floating. The host was extremely friendly and very communicative. Would 100% come back here again. Great lake house. Very clean and comfy. Fantastic view of lake from the dock. We were able to easily access Lake Lanier Olympic park for our youth regatta. Had fun playing in the lake and enjoying the view. Slept my family of 6 well. I would definitely recommend and would come back.
