Trendy good location
Bathroom was awkward bc compact. Feet in wet shower. The bunk stairs were a bit painful to stand on bare foot. Lots of dust on the top shelf above the bunk. Hasn’t been cleaned up there in ages. Don’t mind the strip club across the street the location is great otherwise. Confusing about parking - when booking thought it was included but then on site payment required. Heard other guests complain about the same confusion too. So for $400/night it isn’t a deal but it was best available

The Waterman is well situated for the waterside and downtown. It's easy to walk to the beach, the wharf, the Presidio, and the Los Banos pool (a lovely outdoor pool).
The hotel room was fine but no more than fine. It did have lots of hooks to hang coats from though...
Breakfast facilities were minimal, but there was plenty of availability of free coffee and tea. We didn't see any guests using the cooker hob - slightly weird in a hotel, but if you fancied scrambling some eggs then the equipment was there.
The staff were all very pleasant and helpful.
OK for a one night stay.
The Waterman is ludicrously over-priced. As well as the enormous advertised room rate, you can add $100 a night occupancy tax, and $30 a night to park your car.
The Waterman is trying too hard to be chic and trendy. The rooms are very small, not even space for one easy chair. The pool is very small, great for kids, not adults.
The Waterman is extremely close to Highway 101, which never stops, so sitting outside your room is blighted by traffic noise. It's quiet in the rooms with the door shut though.

loved the location, and communal kitchen. There is plenty of water, soda, and a machine that makes sparkling water to hot water in one!
Rooms were very small, bathrooms were cramped, shower door when closed is up against toilet.

The location was good but it was going through a management change while we were there which was uncomfortable and very noticeable. Our room the first night had a water leak in the shower. We shared it with the front deck but they did not fix it or move us that first night. I had to listen to it drip all night. The room was incredibly small and the price was way more than what a run down hotel should cost. Upkeep in the rooms was not there.

The hotel was in a good location - just a short walk to the seafront and downtown Santa Barbara. The hotel is really quite quirky - with some lovely decoration and a funky feel. Liked the shared space downstairs in reception where there was an honesty bar and where a simple breakfast was served (tea, coffee, juice, some fruit, bagels and pastries). We hadnt expected this so was a nice extra. There was also a big fridge and freezer where guests could keep own items as there was nothing in the room for this. There was a really nice outside area with comfy seating, a clean pool, table tennis table. The room itself was comfy and my son (12) loved sleeping in the murphy bed which pulled down over the main double bed. Had a really nice welcome and the offer of a complimentary drink on arrival from a very lovely member of staff/owner (Derek?)
It was very close to the highway that ran behind and State Street which made it quite noisy around the outside pool although it was a nice space and didnt impact our enjoyment. Some other guests took to playing their music very loudly on a speaker around the pool on one day with some fairly select language too. I didnt feel comfortable asking them to turn it down but would have expected a member of staff to be vigilant in this area and have done it. I dont think this would be typical of the guests that would stay here.
The hotel was in the process of changing hands on the day we left. (There was no name sign on the hotel and there was a change of ownership notice on the outside). I guess that there may be some changes as a result but I hope not. The only thing we noticed was that bottled water went from being free (thank you)
to $1.50 overnight!

the location is convenient but right next to the freeway. the lobby is very charming
the rooms are very small, no closet, bathroom is ridiculous, the toilet is in the shower! the price is outrageous for the room!

The location was extremely convenient, especially since we didn’t have a car for most of our trip. It is just a few blocks from the beach and a short to moderate walk to a number of other popular Santa Barbara attractions. It’s also very close to the Amtrak station, which is one of the reasons we chose it since we traveled there by train. Also, the staff were extremely polite and professional and made us feel quite welcome. We received excellent customer service during our stay there. The hotel is located in a beautiful Spanish style building that blends in well with the predominant architectural style in the area.
The rooms are extremely small, and ours lacked any type of closet or any means of hanging up our clothes. Not even a simple hook on the wall. Not a big deal for us since this was a casual trip, but I don’t know what one would do if they had a suit or some other nice clothes that needed to be hung-up during their stay there. I can understand that the rooms are too small for a traditional closet, but I don’t see why a couple hooks or a small hanging rod couldn’t be attached to one of the walls to accommodate this.

Location is terrific near downtown and the Funk zone where bars and fun shops are located. Super helpful staff answered any questions and were very knowledgeable about area sights and restaurants. The communal kitchen was handy with most of the necessary items for ice and bfast, and snacks.
Room was a bit cozy but expected for the area.

super cute, friendly staff took care of us.
the only thing we missed was we wished there was a soaking tub.

Good location, close to nearby shops and the beach.
The room was unbelievably small. The carpet was not vacuumed at all. I literally could not believe the accommodations for the price. 10x10 room with a tiny bathroom. The shower was open right up close to the toilet. Not a pleasant stay and definitely would not recommend. The reviews online were not accurate at all.

My room was exceptionally clean, but small. The staff are great. Kyle was very kind and welcoming, and patiently showed me a room so I decide if I like the rooms. If one is looking for a competent staff and clean rooms, this is the place. location is right next to highway and noise. Rooms are furnished and designed nicely .
Location.

Only positive is location
Our room wasn't ready after check in time. The room smelled musty and the sheets weren't clean. Cheap toiletries, and the bathroom didn't even had a toothbrush holder. The room is designed very poorly. There is no side table and the furniture looks tacky. Finally, they charged me for parking even before telling me there is a parking fee. I could go on and on about the noise. Long story short, don't waste your money on this hotel.
