About this apartment rental
You'll feel right at home at this inviting condo, which is a mere .25 mile walk up to Canyon Lodge! Our Condo #70 is replete with a comfortable rustic interior, and access to a shared pool, BBQ area, and sauna. Mountainback Condos also has individual jacuzzis for each of its nine buildings. The pool and spas are kept warm, clean and inviting.
Inside the condo, you'll have a spacious and homey living area. An open floor plan allows everyone to congregate and relax by the stone hearth. Our kitchen is well stocked with all utensils and equipment needed for cooking meals from simple to elaborate, plus a wet bar, a bar with seating for three, and a comfortable six-person table for sit-down meals. **Please note the fireplace is inoperable.
With two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and private washer/dryer, this single-level condo will accommodate up to five guests. There is a large flatscreen tv in the living room and two smaller flat screens in each of the bedrooms. By accessing our wifi, you can stream your favorite shows using your home platforms.
In winter, ski/boarding essentials can be stowed at the front entrance for easy access. With beautiful pine trees and the mountains surrounding you, outdoor recreation is minutes away.
We’re closest to Canyon Lodge, but The Village restaurants and shops are only a 5-minute drive. There's also a shuttle out the front door of Unit #70 that can take you and your bike directly to Main Lodge or the Village. An 8-minute drive will get you to Lake Mary, the first of the Basin Lakes, all of which provide great biking/hiking trails, fishing, paddleboarding, boating, kayaking and swimming in the summer.
While Yosemite National Park is 2 hours away, Highway 395 has many scenic side roads to explore, the June Lake Loop being one of the most beautiful. 25 minutes from our Condo #70, this 16-mile drive on State Route 158 takes you past a half dozen lakes, providing fantastic views of the high mountains surrounding the small valley.

Overall this unit was acceptable, much better than others I've rented in the same area. Thankfully the check in was a breeze and the pics appearing in the app are accurate. The electrical appliances all worked well plus the TVs and Wi-Fi were fantastic. The beds are comfy and the living room furniture, while not new, are comfortable. Nothing in life is perfect and this unit was no exception. The ceiling exhaust fan in one shower/toilet room makes a horrible screeching sound when turned on (possibly a bad bearing) and the overhead light in this same room is so dim it was like showering by candle light, a very small candle. The overhead exhaust fan in the second bathroom worked intermittenly. Lastly, the faucet fixture in the kitchen is an inexpensive piece and is so loose I expect it will break off in the near future. These issues are all minor and easily fixed. Thank you to our hosts Arlene and Scott.

Overall, the location of the property was excellent and very convenient for exploring Mammoth. The condo itself was comfortable, but there are a few maintenance issues that should be addressed to improve future guests' experience.The kitchen stove was difficult to use because the burners were unstable, making it challenging to keep pots and pans steady while cooking. The microwave door was also severely cracked, which raised concerns about safety and the possibility of pieces of the damaged material falling into food.In the master bathroom, the bathtub did not drain properly while showering, causing water to accumulate. As a result, the next person had to shower while standing in several inches of water.I would also recommend upgrading the front door lock system. During our stay, my niece was accidentally locked out and was unable to get back inside. We had to wait for property management to come and manually override the lock, which was inconvenient.With a few repairs and updates, this property would provide a much better experience, as its location is truly one of its greatest strengths.
