Thoughtfully designed, the 565-square-foot living space embodies the essence of a quintessential southern Illinois experience. With its pet-friendly policy and its convenient proximity to Lake of Egypt, hiking trails, and wineries, it promises an all-encompassing getaway. SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS 1 Queen Bed in Bedroom in lower level 1 Queen Bed in loft (sleeping room only; accessed by secured ladder) LAYOUT Living Room w/ Smart TV and complementary Netflix Kitchen & Dining Area Walkout covered deck with charcoal grill and dining table + chairs for 4 Views of 1.5 acre pond Full bathroom with walk-in shower Upper Level/Loft Accessible by a secured ladder w/queen mattress OUTDOORS Fire pit and 4 Adirondack chairs for relaxation close to the deck 1.5 acre lake to fish, swim, paddleboard Paddle Boards on site for use Great base for Lake of Egypt visits- only 1 mile from Lake of Egypt dam & public boat ramp at Pyramid Acres Marina Ample space for walking/exercise Charcoal grill (BYO charcoal) Each guest receives a personalized online Welcome Guide immediately upon booking- so you can plan your trip with all of our personal recommendations of places to go and things to do. KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Check in is after 4PM. Check out is before 11AM. Off-site rental agreement and security deposit are required. Security Deposit Hold of $300 (just like a hotel) $30.00 pet fee applicable, per pet, per stay. Max 2 pets Guests not staying overnight are welcomed, loud, disruptive parties are not Check out instructions: We ask that you wash your dishes and pick up any trash left outdoors including cigarette butts BYO Beach Towels: There is a pond/beach area on site. We only provide bath towels. Total of 3 cabins and 1.5 acre pond sits on 5 acres behind our home estate, separated by a privacy fence. Our Great Dane, Rocco, and lab mix, Ariel, greet guests on occasion. Inventory: We provide a "starter package" of inventory for our cabin: 3 rolls of T.P. and 1 full roll of paper towels. Live music plays on weekends at the local bait store and Pyramid Acres Marina during lake season- it carries across the field to the cabins.

Wanted a quick trip, between trips to South Dakota, to see the fall beauty of the Garden of the Gods and other scenic locations in Shawnee National Forest. This mini cabin was beautiful clean, comfortable and just perfect for our quick turnaround. Would recommend to anyone that wants a location full of beauty located in Southern Illinois.

Came down to Southern IL to spend some time with my grandkids. Enjoyed the stay at the cabin. Great secured location. Very clean and comfortable cabin. Communication with Allison was helpful and timely. Will definitely come back again!

This is a wonderful, well appointed cabin! It had everything we needed. It was clean and cozy. The owner was very responsive and easy to contact. I am only sad that it was too cold to enjoy a fire outside! One small recommendation would be a throw blanket for the sofa as it was chilly at night.

My wife and I loved our time at the “Yellow Door” enjoying the scenery, shopping, eating food, and 2 full nights of sleep without our soon to be 7 month old! We can’t wait to do it again this summer and again this time next year!

What a great little getaway. My boyfriend and I stopped for 2 nights on our way home from Myrtle Beach. Unfortunately it stormed majority of our stay; however, we didn't get wet since the yellow door cabin came with an umbrella! When I say they have everything you need...I mean it. It was clean, comfortable, and 100% perfect. We will definitely be returning. Do not hesitate to book this location! It will not disappoint!!!!

This is our second stay at the Yellow Door. One of the few pet friendly cabins we have found in the area. Allison is great to work with always accommodating our few requests. The cabin is charming and as is depicted in the pictures. You can see why it is frequently booked. The furnishings are beginning to show wear but we understand the owners are aware and taking steps to update. We love the location, so convenient to all Shawnee has to offer.

We really enjoyed this property. It was very peaceful, with pretty scenery. The place was very clean and welcoming. All the communication with the host was easy and quick. We would definitely recommend this property!

Cabin was perfect for small family. One bedroom with a very comfortable bed. 2nd bed in loft. (Requires climbing a ladder to reach) Cabin was pet friendly with large property (with pond) for allowing dogs off leash. We also enjoyed the fire pit. Owner even brought us extra firewood. Property has 3 cabins total, so would be good place for larger family also. It’s located 25-30 minutes from State Park and 45 minutes from a local microbrewery.

Darn cute little cabin with a super comfy bed… The host was very helpful when I had trouble opening the door for the first time. It was actually simple and it was my bad for not reading the instructions which were forwarded to me before we even left home. It was kinda embarrassing, but Allison was very sweet about it. I would definitely stay again!

I needed a getaway, so I threw my dog in the car & we went to Marion, IL! It's about 2 hours from STL & about 20 mins from all the cool attractions in the area. I hiked Ferne Clyffe Park a couple days & did Giant City one day. I also work from home, so I spent a lot of time in the cabin using the wifi (worked great) while looking out over the cute little pond. This cabin is the perfect size for two adults and a couple older kids. I don't think little kids would like the loft area, but I think kids over about 10 would think it was super cool. The cabin had everything I needed to cook. It also is much bigger than I expected. It's just as spotless & gorgeous as the pics show too! Just a perfect experience! I will be back for sure! Thank you, Allison, for making it so easy to stay there!

The convenience and central location of this charming, well-stocked cabin was a win for our hiking the Shawnee Forest this fall. Hosts made check-in/check-out simple and would recommend this site to anyone. I would plan ahead and rent all three cabins with others next time!

We didn't to stay that long but it was a nice place to stay. It was nive that the TV could be pulled out and watch on the coach. Full size fridge and microwave was nice. They had a 🔥 pit in the back and a little beach area. The loft was tiny and made me feel like a kid again. The only thing I didnt like was the cleaning lady came before we checked out. Overall, it is a nice place to stay and really felt like I was in the country!

We were so comfortable in this adorable cabin. We were close to hikes and wineries which filled our days. It was perfect to relax here in the evening by the fire ring or watching a movie. The large lawn made it easy to walk our puppy. Great experience!

From the clever name to the charming modern cabin, you will not be disappointed. The location is right for enjoying all the best of Shawnee National Forest. Allison has taken care of everything. The property is peaceful and very quiet allowing you to enjoy the wrap around porch with views of the pond. Being able to bring our anxious rescue dog also a plus! We will definitely be back.
