It’s a good proximity to all of the essentials in the centre of bath

Minimal staffing levels on the Saturday- disinterested customer care. 2 single beds put together, uncomfortable mattress with a thin topper. Very poor finish in the rooms, paint slapped on, lime scale all over the bathroom. Towels with holes in. The hotel purports to be expensive and upmarket, but clearly isn’t with minimal staffing and poor attention to detail in rooms. We stayed in a ground floor room which was poorly soundproofed- you could hear everything at night outside.

Central location.

The room we supposedly booked here was bright, spacious and on an upper floor (“lift access”), according to Booking.com. In reality, The room we were given was painted black, on the ground floor of the slightly musty smelling annexe next door. Opening the curtains was out the question, as it would have been like the proverbial goldfish bowl. The promised seating area was a chair next to the front door. The room was well-equipped and clean, but not a place you’d want to spend any time in. Pretty noisy at night too.

Hotel had personality

The room felt special, like one of a kind. It was very spacious and had great furnishings. The small fridge was actually a useful size to keep drinks in. The location is also wonderful, right in the heart, next to the main attractions.

Upon arrival we were told that if we didn't require new towels and linen daily to hang the green tree on the door. We did that but housekeeping interpreted that as do not disturb or enter, so our bin wasn't emptied or coffee refilled. A tiny thing, sure.

Great location and the staff were great.

This hotel was surprisingly centrally located , and the staff went above and beyond unforeseen situations .

Unaware of the multiple levels on each floor. However it was nothing to hinder the experience .

The TV wouldn’t go above 13 on volume. It seemed that a limit had been programmed. Made it very hard to hear what was a lovely large wall tv.

Everything has been downgraded dramatically compared to what it was 10 years ago. Is it because this hotel is run by a different operator? Five annoying things i would like to mention here.1. I don't think i was warmly welcomed at the concierge, 2.my name was not even registered on next day's breakfast list though we were accomdated and this issue was nicely recovered by one helful staff. 3. I found a pin somewhere near the bed. 4. Breakfast was not good at all and we chose to skip the hotel's breakfast in the next four days. 5. room was not cleaned at all on the second day during our stay.

The breakfast was very good, by you had to schedule your time ahead and times I needed were booked. I ended up paying for 2 breakfasts I didn't eat.

I paid for a better room, but the moved me to a smaller room because the TV didn't work. I did not received compensation for a smaller room or the 2 breakfasts

Room and bath was small Breakfast was poor election and when order came was wrong Bar staff didn’t know how to make drinks, so we had to have alternatives. Corridors and stairs were drab and felt dirty Staff were hung over and whilst friendly service was poor Really poor quality for money. We stay in a lot of places and for this money the places are usually amazing, but this was poor.

The design of the bedroom and bathroom. loved the various artwork hung throughout the building. In keeping with the building in bath from the outside.

Great decor and comfortable

The Abbey Hotel is a well-preserved comfortable Victorian hotel, which fits the antique neighborhood, and is walking distance to Bath visitor attractions and the train station. Our room was immaculately clean, with a good king sized bed. All the electrical and plumbing facilities are upgraded to provide excellent utility. A large bright bathroom with roomy shower, nice Terry bathrobes and slippers, and a heated towel rack were pleasant surprises. And they provided washcloths, which our other hotels in the UK did not. Breakfast was also excellent - best coffee I had in two weeks. Altogether an excellent place to stay, and I would recommend it for anyone visiting Bath.

Perfect location to city centre, everything is in walking distance. The staff were exceptional in ensuring our stay was special!

Location was good, although due to the fact that we were placed in a room facing the front with bars open most of the night, and air conditioning not working, it was awful. Room was nicely decorated and breakfast we very nice

Air conditioning working!!!! We were moved once but no air conditioning in second room and it was very hot, were told there were no other rooms to move to that had working air conditon

Excellent location, very helpful staff. Good breakfast but a little haphazard.

After studying the website we selected a room that would suit us being disabled. The money was taken immediately so we were confident that a contract had been reached. However when we arrived we had been downgraded to a ‘cosy’ room which was not much more than a broom cupboard. No chairs, nowhere to put our suitcases, clothes etc were on the floor! Although an agreement was reached over payment it was totally unsuitable for us. will not be staying here again

Staff very slow to perform check-in, just staring into computer and not explaining what the problem was. Then charging a much higher amount then what was stated in my booking. Had I not pointed this out, I would have paid a very much higher price. Very slow service at breakfast.

It’s efficient, friendly and cheerful reception and restaurant staff, especially Ms Sally Lam. She displayed exemplary service to us, two retired senior couples.

Everything was very almost lush. nice room, big bed, bath with whirlpool features.

OK so they have bath robes and slippers in the room. Very nice. Except when I put mine on, there appeared to be a lovely brown stain on one side. Seemed it was too much for the washing machine. Surprised it didn’t get noticed. Anyway… because of this my OCD kicked in and I noticed everything.. bit of limescale around the taps, shower head needed a scrub to get the water to spray out properly, gunk around some of the bath buttons, nothing major but after seeing the previous guests poo on a bath robe, I felt a bit sick and looked for everything. I would have said something at the desk, but I wasn’t going to alert the mrs to this.
