Hotel Ullensvang

The location of this hotel is simply spectacular, surrounded by magnificent Norwegian scenery right on the waters edge with a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere that makes it incredibly easy to relax and switch off. While the hotel was ever so comfortable one of the real highlights was breakfast. There was an excellent selection, presentation was well done and it was a great start to the day. The local village is equally peaceful and would certainly recommend a stroll through it, especially up towards the church.

Only slight downside was that for some reason the fire alarms were tested very briefly a couple of times in the night for some unknown reason but this did not detract from a wonderful stay.

We were upgraded to a master suite and it was amazing! The rooms were huge and the views magnificent. We loved the spa facilities and the hotels location for hiking. My partner requires gluten free food and this was available for breakfast and dinner.

It is disappointing that guests must pay extra for parking, this should be included in the cost.

Public area and deck outside were nice. A la cart menu for dinner was good.

The room was extremely basic, very outdated, and bordering on neglected in appearance. The bathroom looked as though it had not been renovated since the 1970s. There was not even a bottle of water in the room, let alone a coffee machine. It was a real disappointment, which is unfortunate because the location on the fjord is beautiful and the public areas are quite pleasant. Overall, it was a disappointment and a missed opportunity. The hotel is situated in a beautiful location, but it is in serious need of renovation and modernization.
