Welcome to the Shipwreck House, where Oregon Coast history, rugged beauty, and unforgettable ocean views come together in a truly one-of-a kind retreat. The Glenesslin, whose proud portrait hangs above the fireplace, came aground on the rocky coastline near Nehalem, Oregon. Pieces of the reclaimed wood from that historic ship were thoughtfully incorporated into this home, giving Shipwreck House its name and its enduring character. Like the weathered driftwood that washes ashore nearby, this rustic home embraces the authentic charm of the coast with a warm, well-loved feel that reflects its remarkable story.
Perched on a bluff just south of the charming village of Yachats, Shipwreck House offers sweeping views of the rocks, tide pools, and Pacific behind. Watch for harbor seals, seabirds, and crashing surf from the comfort of the living room, where expansive west-facing windows, a spacious dining area, kitchen, and breakfast nook create the perfect gathering place.
Upstairs from the living room, you'll find two queen bedrooms and a shared bath. A second staircase leads to a light-filled sitting room with panoramic views north and west, including the twinkling lights of Yachats after dark. This space features two sleeper sofas, a flat-screen TV , and connects to a king bedroom with a shared bathroom. Back on the main level, the primary suite offers peaceful southern views and an ensuite bath, while an additional bedroom with two twin beds is tucked just beside it.
Just minutes from Cape Perpetua and Heceta Head Lighthouse, Shipwreck House is perfectly situated for exploring the Central Oregon coast. After a day of adventure, enjoy the ping pong table, shuffleboard, board games, and the timeless experience of staying in a home that's every bit as memorable as the landscape surrounding it.
*The deck is currently being rebuilt and will be unavailable during your stay. No construction will take place while guests are at the property. You can still enjoy the expansive side yard and beautiful views!
Sleeps up to 8 – 4 bedrooms, 2 kings (both can be separated in to 2 twin beds - with prior notice), 2 queen beds, 3 queen sleeper sofas, 3 baths.
Vehicles: Licensed for 5 (strictly enforced)
Standard: 3 night minimum; Summer & Holidays: 3-4 night minimum
*Each home is individually owned. Amenities and furnishings are subject to change at any time. Please contact our office with any questions.
Age Requirement: The primary registered guest must be at least 26 years of age. The majority of guests must be over 25, or children under adult supervision.
This home does not allow cat guests or other non-human, non-canine visitors. Dogs are welcome at this home but must be registered in advance and paid prior to arrival. This home has a 3-dog maximum occupancy! Pet Guests: One time $35+tax fee per dog. Pet fees are not included in the original reservation.

The house was awesome with some areas needing improvement: - Several utensils (spatulas) in the drawer were dirty. - Window cranks broken or missing.- TV upstairs was confusing to operate. - Most all the beds were very comfortable.- The host was very responsive. Can't beat the location and the house was awesome even with some of these very minor issues.

#1 DO NOT try to enter the driveway off 101 going North. Like the web site says only go SOUTH from Yachats and after the SCHOOL BUS STOP sign the drive is 100yrds on Rt.#2 The BEST room is upstairs JUST AFTER the garage door entrance : the MBR is in the back w/limited view but NO WIND while the sitting room has the BEST VIEW of the coast#3 You will have to SEARCH for Pots, Pans, Dishes & cutlery but it is worth the look see.we found the pots n pans in a inside corner turn around #4 The oven on CONVECTION will SEEM to NOT shut off, but let it run a few minutes and then OPEN THE OVEN DOOR and it will eventually shut offDO NOT TRY TO OPEN THE FRONT DOOR ... use the deck or garage doors.The main room living space is deceptive; sit at the window watching the ocean with a glass of wine and you will be lulled to sleep. It is a view better than TV !leaving scraps on the deck in the morning will bring seagulls vultures and crows but ALSO EAGLES ! We saw several 8 feet away on the deck from the kitchen & Main roomSweet home does what they say; available alwasy & for the DUMBEST call and very nice.Walk SOUTH along the lawn past the property down to another 'churn' and you can see the resident seals popping up to watch YOU !The views here are better than the advertised Cape Perpetua's Devil's Churn & Thor's Well as this ocean site has there OWN ! (not named but generically 'spouting horn')And the beds are TOO comfortable ... you might sleep through natures show !

The house was clean and met our needs, we especially enjoyed the tide pools below the house.

This house sits on one of the most spectacular points on a famously beautiful coastline. You couldn’t ask for a more scenic location.
The downside was this 90 year old house, while full of charm and character, is very beat up. I think the list of deferred maintenance is longer than the list of features.
