Located in Winter Harbor, this charming house for $325 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. This lovely home we call Stonehaven is serene, secluded, scenic, sunny, spacious and situated on a one acre wooded lot - only steps away from the shoreline. As you walk in, you will be greeted by the spectacular ocean view. On the first floor there is a master bedroom with a king size bed and a petite / private room with a twin bed. Walk into the living area and there is a cathedral ceiling with windows from top to bottom and a futon that comfortably sleeps one. Go upstairs to the spacious loft with two twin beds, one with a pull-out twin bed. There’s plenty of room to sit and watch a movie. During high tide, look out to the ocean and you will feel as if you are on a cruise liner…. without the sway of course. Discover the beauty of Maine in this quiet community!

My SO and I fully enjoyed out stay at this very pleasant property. The accommodations met or exceeded our needs and the coastal views, coupled with good weather and the spectacular Atlantic, were nothing short of inspiring. The road trip up and back (10+ hours, one-way) was tough on our backs, but we are undaunted and hope to return in the near future.

A trip to Maine was on our bucket list, and Stonehaven did not disappoint. The view was gorgeous, and the only sounds were of crashing waves, sea birds, and lobster boats. A perfect place to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary!

Wow! What a wonderful house on the rocky Maine coast. Stonehaven has all the amenities you can ask for, and yet all we wanted to do during our week there was watch the ocean. The view is mesmerizing. We never once turned on the TV! Did some hiking/biking in the scenic Schoodic-peninsula part of Acadia (about a 5-minute drive from the house), ate at some good local restaurants (lobster roll heaven), cooked in the well-equipped kitchen, and fell asleep at night to the sound of the ocean waves.We were also amazed to see the most wonderful full-moon rising over the ocean.Tom was the perfect host, anticipating our every need, and we enjoyed talking with Bill, the neighbor, who was also there in case we needed any trouble-shooting (we didn't!). Drove over to MDI on a Monday (about an hour), but of course there was a cruise ship in the harbor, and the main part of Acadia was terribly crowded. Since we had visited there before, we were more than happy to get back to our peaceful paradise! The house is clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated, with a full complement of brochures for local activities and an extensive welcome booklet put together by Tom.There were games, puzzles, movies, books (my favorite was Ulysses, a light summer read, hahaha), a lobster cooker, a sound system, a firepit by the rocky beach, and even a telescope for looking at the stars. One of our best Maine vacations, and I would come back to Stonehaven in a heartbeat. Thanks Tom for sharing it with us!

My best friend and I wanted a relaxing retreat this year and Stonehaven was exactly that. The views are breathtaking, the sound of the ocean soothes and the location offers something for everyone within an hour. We all slept amazingly well, never turned on the tv and the property had everything we needed. Communication with Tom and some tips from neighbor Bill was easy and welcome. For once we had a vacation that didn’t make us feel like we needed to recover from.

The location of the house for privacy and the view of the ocean were superb! However, I would have chosen a different house had I known the lighting in the main bathroom was so faint it was not usable for makeup or for my husband shaving. You had to go into the living room for both. Also the futon in the living room that was the primary seating was absolutely horrible. I wanted to go buy a couch it was so bad. If you are out exploring you may not notice how uncomfortable it is but if it was a rainy day then it was unbearable. These two things really affected the happiness with the house.

We’ve been visiting the Schoodic Peninsula for years, but this was our first VRBO experience and we couldn’t have found a better home. The small harbor towns and the house are complete gems. Tom was very helpful before and during our stay. The house was perfect for our family. Everything that we needed was there and more! We hope to visit again soon. Thank you for your hospitality, Tom!

We had a wonderful stay at Stonehaven! The location can’t be beat. Watching the sun set over the water and making s’mores at the fire pit was the perfect way to end a busy day spent exploring Acadia. The neighbor was kind enough to come over and introduce himself and make sure our stay was going smoothly. We only wish we could have stayed for longer than two nights, we will definitely look to stay here again if we are ever back in the area!

My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. The house was exactly as described. The kids (14, 12, 9) loved climbing over the rocks and looking for sealife or just watching the waves. We also played games. My daughter took the single bedroom, and the boys took the loft. Gave everyone room to spread out. The kitchen was very well stocked, although we didn't use it much ... too many good seafood restaurants! The drive to Bar Harbor wasn't too bad - we had already looked that up and known we would be about 1hr away. We are hoping to make it back soon!

The Stonehaven property is excellent and one of the best where we've ever stayed. I proposed to my girlfriend on the deck looking out over the water (she said yes!!).. It's a great house with a fantastic view and Tom's communication with us was very responsive and informative. I highly recommend this rental! We will definitely be back!!

A very simple, comfortable house with a view to DIE for. I loved waking up so early and watching the sunrise. The views from the living room are just stunning. The owner and his neighbor also take good care of you with their notebook of things to do and occasional check ins. Felt very well taken care of.

Your own spot on the ocean, this is it. A very nice and private home right on the Atlantic Ocean. The owners have provided everything you'll need inside the house and Mother Nature has taken care of the outside. You can't help but relax here and just try and take it all in. I never got tired of standing on the rocks and watching the waves crash. I don't think you will either.

This place by the sea was overwhelmingly clean (our second stay here), area is so quiet - the perfect getaway from it all. The only place I've ever been to in Maine where I feel so at home, only right by the sea. Saw seals and dolphins. Owners are just wonderful! This place offers everything and anything you could possibly need for sea adventures, and cooking, don't forget cooking; they have it all!

Stonehaven is the vacation house I’ve always dreamed of, smack on the water but in a very tranquil, private setting. The ocean fills the enormous seaside windows and the soft sound of waves is the loudest thing you hear the whole time. The house is large, bright, and spanking clean. The kitchen is very well-stocked to do real cooking, and there’s a huge deck facing the ocean and a new Weber grill. The house is furnished with comfortable, classic mid-century Scandinavian furniture. And it’s only 5 miles (10 minutes) to the gorgeous Schoodic section of Acadia NP. I can hardly express how much I love this place.

We stayed at Tom's place for a week, two adults and two kids. The house was clean, cozy and views from the living room were just breathtaking! We were lucky with the weather and spent many hours sitting on the deck watching sunrise and lobster boats going out in the morning and wave crashing and fresh breeze in the evenings. The house is well stocked with all necessities ( paper towels, utensils, plenty of towels, various spices). Location is great to quickly reach Schoodic point, or several nearby picturesque working harbors. Winter harbor has a few restaurants, bakery with fresh goods, and a couple of convinience stores. This place has everything you need for a true Maine vacation away from hustle and bustle with plenty of salty breeze, pine smell, wild flowers, granite shores, crashing waves, and lots of lobsters..

We had a wonderful week at this home. The house is very clean and well maintained. It's a very relaxing home to stay in. The loft area was perfect for our teen to hide out in! There is a fire pit right on the beach where you can enjoy beautiful evenings. Thank you so much for a terrific stay! We are looking forward to returning.

Stonehaven is a well-built house looking out on the crashing surf. A perfect family get away. Very comfortable, well-appointed with great light and sea air.

Girls getaway
Owner was very helpful in sending a booklet upon arrival of area stores, restaurants, places to see and lots of details about the property that were very helpful. Unfortunately we were only there for 2 nights (owner was very nice to accommodate just 2 nights) but the property was beautiful and reasonably priced. We took the ferry to bar harbor one day which was nice. Schoodic point was my favorite place and is a must to see while there!
