About this farm stay rental
Located in Bulverde, this lovely farm stay for $125 per night is a great choice for your next trip. This Historical Fachwerk Home was built by Adolph Kappleman Sr. in 1865. It is the only Fachwerk house in this part of the Hill Country. It is comprised of four rooms, one large bedroom, large living room, a small kitchen with eating room and a small bathroom with a footed tub and shower. The house also Features wood floors. It is built with Hand-Squared, Native Cedar Studs and Beams, all pegged in place and hand made bricks for filler. The bricks were baked in a Kiel on the ranch. The ranch was acquired by Herbert and Hulda Mayer in 1920 and in 1957 by James and Lillian Mayer. It is still a working farm today. The home was restored to it's original way in 1999 by James and Lillian Mayer. It is furnished with many family heirlooms and antiques. The living room has a sleeper sofa, T.V., comfortable chairs and is decorated in burgundy and white. The bedroom has a queen size bed, antique dresser, chair and other antiques. It is decorated in pink and white. The bathroom has a footed tub and shower which is decorated in burgundy and navy. The kitchen area and eating area has a sink, small microwave and small refrigerator, an antique table and chairs and is decorated with in an apple motif and burlap curtains. The decor is very attractive. A Bar-BQ pit is available. Enjoy tranquility on the porch swing and country scenery with cattle in the fields. A quaint getaway to enjoy and relax.

My wife and I spent a weekend in Bulverde and stayed here. The house was very charming as was the property. We would love to stay here again some day.

A look into the past
The house is perfect for what we wanted. Small with kitchen, separate bedroom, living room and bathroom. Loved the history and how it was displayed throughout the house. A/C was appreciated. The porch swing was perfect for morning devotions and relaxing after a busy day. We had car troubles and Beverley was quick to help us, getting friends to help and offer much needed advice. Such a blessing when we were completely stranded in the middle of nowhere. A few side notes the house did smell musty, but opening the doors took care of that immediately. There is no stove/oven in the house but they did provide a grill and all utensils for it. Lastly, the driveway is steep and exits directly into the road. No biggie once we got the hang of it. All in all 10 out of 10 stay. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Farm House Near Gruene
If you’re doing a driving trip of the area, and don’t want to pay the inflated prices of staying in town, this is your place. Beautiful drive in all directions. 25 minutes to Gruene. 45 minutes to Luchenbach.

Great relaxing getaway!
Loved the house and enjoyed the porch swing. Felt like we were seeing a part of history staying here. Very relaxing stay away from the hustle and bustle. Would definitely stay here again when we come back to the area.

Perfect Getaway
Perfect charming getaway for my husband and I. It was clean, quiet and cozy and we couldn't have asked for anything better. We love the vintage feel of the place and that's why we chose to stay here. Nice to be far removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Beverly has been so easy and kind to speak with and I highly recommend staying here!

Having back issues, a good bed is important; I slept well with no morning back ache. I enjoyed the fresh fruit, pastries and other goodies available and communication with Beverly could not have been easier! Thank you for an enjoyable experience!!

A Great Place To Stay!!
Enjoyed the weekend at the old farm home in Bulverde. Nothing fancy just country living. We enjoyed all the antiques the pictures, and the journal, quite interesting !! Brought back a lot of fond memories of staying at my grandparents home off 306 back in the 50's. Beverly was very accommodating leaving fresh fruit and homemade muffins for us, it was great. Plus we enjoyed Sunday evening on the front porch swing with a nice breeze while we had Bar-B-Q from the local restaurant. Great place to stay close to New Braunfels, San Antonio and the rest of the Hill Country has to offer. Thank You,

Peaceful weekend getaway!
The farm house was perfect! My boyfriend and I were looking for a peaceful getaway weekend and we had just that here. Beberly was extremely kind and accommodating. Not to mention the delicious muffins & breakfast left for your stay. We will definitely visit again in the future!!

Great experience and wonderfully peaceful
It was perfect for my husband and I. We were attending a conference and did not want to stay on site. It was great coming back every evening to the peace and comfort of this home. It was very spacious, comfortable, and quiet. We grilled one night, everything that we needed for grilling was provided (except the food:)). The fridge was packed with fresh fruit and different types of juices and water. Beverly texted to check on us to make sure we had everything we needed.

We enjoyed our stay so much. It was a perfect get away. Sitting outside on the porch swing was my favorite! Very peaceful. We live very busy lives and it was nice to step away for a short time. Enjoyed driving into San Antonio but not having to stay in town. Will definitely be back!

Really nice & relaxing place for two.
Perfect little place for two! Lots of history and family items displayed for all to enjoy. The baked goodies were delicious and the items in the fridge were very much appreciated!
Everything has been thought of, and we couldn’t have asked for more.
If we are blessed to visit the area again, we would not hesitate to visit Gasthaus Mayer again!
The only things that prevent a 5 star rating was The fact that we were not allowed to wander about a little bit more. For instance to look at the barn, historic rock wall & the horses.
Also the nearby busy road that did cause some loss of peace.

Great place to 'get away'!
This is such a great place to stay! I loved being 'out in the country'. Everything was well maintained and clean. We grilled out under the shade tree and enjoyed song birds and hummingbirds. All the old history of the house was very interesting. The kitchen had everything we needed and there were plenty of continental breakfast goodies for us to enjoy during our stay. Most of Saturday was spent visiting some of the hill country towns. Our favorite experience was touring the Cave Without a Name near Boerne, TX. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you, Jackie

A beautiful piece of peace and nostalgia
Such a wonderful cottage to get away in the Texas hill country! The serenity and peace you feel waking up to the birds chirping and the cattle around getting the morning hay while you sit on the porch swing drinking coffee is ideal. The house is appointed with thoughtful detail in antique decor and in accommodations. The hosts are kind and clearly want you to have an enjoyable experience. The refrigerator is stocked with beverages, yogurt, fruits, snacks. Baked goods and coffee it's all there. The location is near to much that the area has to offer. The historic town of Groene, water activities on the river, Hollow Tree Ranch for horseback riding, Natural Bridge Caverns and all of its offerings. I'm so happy I had the opportunity to stay in this perfect spot and enjoy being at the cottage as well as doing all the fun things nearby. Beverly, thank you so much for a wonderful place to visit I will love to stay here again!
