About this house rental
Situated in Bridgetown, this charming house for $1,200 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. Tantalus Villa, Brighton Beach, St. Michael, is a luxurious beachfront property along the West Coast of Barbados. The property has a five bedroom suites on the upper two levels of the main house. It is a beautiful residence with high quality coral stone finishing and flooring throughout. The total area is approximately 4200 square feet on the upper two levels with large balconies on both levels. Each bedroom is fully air-conditioned and equipped with ceiling fans as well. The primary feature of Tantalus Villa is the large open living area overlooking the beautiful Caribbean sea. This is a beach lovers delight as the spacious balcony overlooks the beautiful sandy beach and the aquamarine Caribbean Sea. Brighton Beach itself is one of the top swimming/beach combing areas on the west coast of Barbados and after enjoying your day on the beach or in the water, you are perfectly situated to watch another Caribbean sunset displayed in glorious color right from your balcony. Enjoy having your meals at a large round glass dining room table overlooking the ocean and just steps away from the well laid out gourmet kitchen complete with all the amenities. All the doors and windows to the outside have full movable shutters to allow the breezes and light to flow through. There are two bedrooms and a media room plus a laundry/utility area to the back half of the lower level of this two story suite, with a further three bedrooms and fitness room in the upper level. The master bedroom on the top level is a massive room with a private verandah and views over the pool and sea. It is a stunning room with the feel of living in a luxurious tree house and you may never want to leave. Alongside the house is a large rectangular pool with Roman steps at one end. The pool is mosaic tiled in a dark cobalt blue color that keeps it exceptionally warm throughout the year. The grounds are well developed with mature trees and shrubbery and there are over a dozen coconut and other palms along the beachfront for shade. There is a private beach access gate with outdoor shower and lounging/seating areas. Brighton Beach itself, is a wide, calm beach ideally suited for all kinds of activity. The swimming and snorkeling is very good and you can jog or walk on uninterrupted on the sand for well over a kilometer in each direction. Other positive features are that the location is excellent for access to downtown, West Coast, Warrens and the ABC Highway.your doorstep. The property enjoys good breezes for most of the year as it is not in the shadow of the more elevated lands along the west coast. An ideal family residence in a quiet area with good security.

This property was full of surprises and the views were amazing. Our 3 year old Grand Princess truly enjoyed herself and didn’t want to leave. Our adults enjoyed the comfort of the home as well as the numerous areas to relax outside. We were in close proximity to everything that we needed and JP and Heather were awesome hosts. We highly recommend Beach Lover’s Delight.

The pictures and description of the Villa cannot fully capture the actual beauty, prime beach location, and “high style” of the property. Combined with the genuine warmth and hospitality of hosts - JP & Heather - this is a must-rent property for an unforgettable vacation.
The three of us friends had plenty of space to spread out - each having a great bedroom and private bathroom. Ample comfortable and spacious common areas for hanging out together.
The toughest choice each day was how to divide our time between the clean and refreshing pool or the beautiful sandy beach about 20 to 25 yards away from the main Villa.
The hosts were so helpful with recommendations for a private driver, restaurant options, stocking the kitchen to our request, providing a courtesy drive to grocery store, and arranging an in-Villa private dining experience.
Perhaps my best vacation rental experience of all time!

We loved our stay at Tantalus Villa. The villa was spacious, clean and had everything you needed. JP and Heather were great hosts. They always responded promptly to our questions and were very helpful during our stay. The villa has a great pool and right on Brighton Beach for great swims and long walks on the beach. The property is clean, well located and has so much to offer as it’s on the beach, has a pool and hot tub. The hosts made some great recommendations and were quick to reply to our questions. I would highly recommend this property. We all really enjoyed ourselves.

Everything was topnotch from start to finish. Communication was first rate. So much room for our family to spread out and enjoy Barbados. We had Shelly cook us dinner one night - it's a must if you stay at Tantalus! Angela was a joy and helped us in one way or another almost every day. JP was an excellent host - best vrbo experience I've had to date. Pool and hot tub were perfect but the beach is exactly what you look for - clean soft sand and beautiful water. Cannot recommend this experience enough. Stores groceries and restaurants all a short drive away. JP recommended Vernon for transportation since we had a large group and parking was at a minimum. Excellent car service! JP has many recommendations- all of which we appreciated. Thank you for a great stay!!

My friends and I rented this property for. Girls trip. The house was amazing. It’s right on the beach so the ocean breeze was wonderful everyday. The owners as well as all of the staff were extremely welcoming and attentive. I would definitely rent again!

Tantalus was a dream. 7 days flew by so quickly. The smell of banana bread welcomes us when we arrived. The villa was very beautiful and spacious. The pictures didn't do it justice. The owners were very helpful and prompt in replying to messages. Would highly recommend this villa to anyone.

A wonderful week!
Tantalus is a very comfortable house for a group of friends for a week. PROS: gorgeous beach, tranquil ocean, never crowded. Great staff—definitely have Shelly cook a curry dinner (and anything else!) for you. She’s an excellent chef. The housekeeper, Carol, was very kind and efficient. Loved the pool!
A few small issues—the showers could use a bit of updating, and please be aware that the mosquitoes come out every evening, so make sure you spray yourself and your sheets with Natrapel or some other bug repellent. Can be purchased at pharmacies or some grocery stores.
Highly recommend using taxi services for getting around—the traffic can be intense.

Best VRBO Ever
Our family had a beautiful stay. The villa is spacious with plenty of room for the 9 people. The architecture has a Caribbean flavor and the master bedroom overlooking the ocean will knock your socks off. Our flight was delayed 5 hours and JP + Heather had a meal ready in the oven and some groceries for the next day. Recommend you have Shelly cook up a couple dinners - delicious. I like the large balconies that offer plenty of shade. This really is the best VRBO I have stayed at. I would definitely book this again.

They responded to every question right away, stocked our fridge full of food, beer and wine for us before arrival so that we were ready to vacation the moment we stepped foot in the house. (due to the Barbados quarantine timeframe) they booked a fabulous chef for us that cooked for my husbands 40th birthday, recommended the best massage therapist that gave us wonderful massages on the top patio of the master bedroom and we’re there for any and all questions. The pool is lovely, the beach is beautiful (lots of sea glass if you like to hunt for it like we do). The weather was great!! The house was huge and we didnt even use all the bedrooms for our 5 adults and two toddlers. Super spacious. The kitchen has everything you would ever need. It was perfect. Highly recommend.

Beautiful Location
This villa is set directly on a beautiful huge stretch of beach. The views from the deck areas are spectacular. We especially enjoyed watching the sunsets and the cruise ships go out at night. We were a party of 9, and there was tons of room for us. We did have 1 small issue. The hot tub does not work, which was a bit of a disappointment, especially in December/January when the ocean and pool are the coolest. JP did tell us he has been working on to try to get it running, so perhaps inquire if this is important to you. We loved our frequent visits from the owners dogs. They are very sweet, and it was so funny how they always seemed to know when we were having dinner.......... ;)

Stunning stay at Tantalus Villa
Simply fantastic. Fabulous hosts. Awesome well equipped Villa and great team. Our group of 9, 4 adults, 2 teenage boys & 3 kids had a unforgettable two week stay. Great communication during the booking process and met by the owner, Heather on arrival and made to feel at home from day one. Neat, clean Villa that exceeded expectations. Great pool and Jacuzzi and beautiful golden sand beach just steps from the front door. Great snorkelling and crystal clear waters. Special thanks to all the team who made our stay comfortable, Andrea for keeping the Villa clean and tidy every day and to Shelly for cooking some great food for us and Mr Young who was on call throughout the night. Tranquil and safe area. As we leave we do so with heavy hearts but great memories and we already look forward to returning soon. Finally thanks to Heather and JP, the owners and congratulations on your 35th wedding Anniversary. Thanks for letting us stay, for taking such good care of us and for letting the kids look after you lovely little dog Vino.

Excellent Beachfront Property with Friendly Staff
Tantalus looked excellent online and was even better live, if that’s possible, for our ten day visit. We are regular visitors to Barbados and know the beaches. Brighton beach is the best. It is private - but not secluded - and the water is calm. The villa is spacious ( there were 9 of us - 6 adults and 3 children) and the view from the large balcony/ living room is spectacular, as is the view from the balcony of the master bedroom. The villa is also equipped with every thing that one would need. Nevertheless, Heather and JP were always offering to provide even more! Andrea was wonderful and became an “addition” to the family. Shelley’s breakfast and roti dinner were excellent. Robert and Mr. Johnson were also very helpful (including displaying the turtles to the kids). Congrats to Heather and JP for being excellent “hosts” . We are looking forward to a return visit.

Awesome place!!
My Family and I had an amazing time! Tantalus is such a beautiful property and fit my large group very comfortably. JP was very accommodating and responsive. The staff at Tantalus were super helpful and very friendly. The property is very much like the pictures with a great balcony view of the beach from the master bedroom. At the end there was some water issues on our side of the island but JP was very proactive in finding us additional accommodations while the water issues were being resolved. If we ever go back to Barbados, I can't imagine staying anywhere else.

Beautiful Property
Tantalus was a wonderful vacation spot for our group of 9 adults. The grounds were beautifully maintained and the house was a wonderful combination of indoor and outdoor space. JP was very helpful and easy to work with. His staff was very accommodating and helped with transportation, and all our various questions. We hope to return to this fabulous spot again soon.

Fabulous location, fabulous hosts, fabulous week.
My family’s weeklong stay at Tantalus was wonderful. From initial communication all the way through departure, JP and Heather were 100% communicative and accommodating, taking extra steps to help set us up for a successful week with our toddler son.
The house itself is gorgeous and the views divine. A fully equipped kitchen and house layout left us feeling at home. The terrace made for perfect long and lazy afternoons and relaxed evenings. The house’s beachfront location is divine. The beach itself is wonderfully peaceful. There are seaside food and drinks to be had at restaurants in walking distance in either direction. I should mention too here that Shelley, on JP and Heather’s staff, makes a wonderful fish curry if you arrange with her ahead of time.
I highly recommend JP and Heather’s home and would return in a heartbeat.
