Adirondack style architecture with a large deck overlooking a protected harbor and a private island. This is two story house with two bedrooms and full bath on the second floor and the master bedroom and full bath on the first floor. The first floor was remodeled recently and the bedroom/bathroom/laundry area were added in the old garage space. The new master bedroom has a fabulous view of the seal rocks to the north of the private island when you are sitting in bed or in the seating area. The galley kitchen and living area are in an open space on the first floor. There is a flat screen TV with a DVD player. There is a MiFi hotspot for internet and TV at this time. There is a built in dining area on the first floor as well. The master bedroom is large and has king size bed. The second bedroom upstairs includes a bunk bed and two twin beds. The third bedroom includes a queen size bed. The back deck is the highlight of The Carriage House. It is right on the water and the views are stunning.
The house is connected to small garage. Family members who are staying in another building on the property will also have access to that garage during your stay. You will also be sharing parking with those family members as well.
Extremely quiet surroundings, at end of a long drive belonging to Green Island. You'll have access to a launch area at the end of the drive to put in a kayak or canoe. The area is perfect for paddling around and exploring. There are two small islands to visit for a picnic or a swim, a colony of seals to watch (please try to respect their space and stay ~150 feet away). If you want to see the wildlife up close then bring binoculars. Bald Eagles and Opreys are nesting and hunting in the area. This side of Mount Desert is often sunny when other parts are fog bound. The water is warmer here and more calm. Perfect for Kayaks and canoes.

My family of four and our dog truly loved staying at the Carriage House. The location is absolutely amazing! We were comfortable, close enough to anything we needed that the drive was reasonable, and had no trouble locating anything we might require within the house. We REALLY appreciated that there was bug spray supplied; Maine mosquitoes are like southern mosquitoes on steroids. We rented kayaks from Scotty's Kayak and Canoe Rentals, he delivered them to the house, and we truly enjoyed getting to go for many a paddle right from the house's "backyard." I highly recommend doing this. Another recommendation I'd offer to guests is that if you are picky about your TP like we are, pick up a package of your preferred brand on your way in. Overall, this was the perfect house for our nature-loving family that still wants to be a close drive to the local attractions.

Loved everything about this place! We spent every evening sitting by the water & enjoying the view. Seen bald eagles & loved watching the seals. The place was so clean & exceeded our expectations for our first trip to Maine.

This was our 2nd stay at the Carriage House. The new bedroom and bath are spacious with a nice shower and a very comfortable king-sized bed. The deck is one of my favorite places ever: beautiful view and blissful quiet.
