McKinley aka "Denali" (the Great One), the tallest mountain on the North American Continent. During the Summer its not unusual to see Moose in the front yard. Grill your dinner while enjoying a glass of wine and a view of city lights and surrounding mountains. Fall asleep in a super comfortable King size bed and just enjoy the quiet. Separate outside deck and picnic table add to charm of this downstairs apartment in this mountain residence. Both inside and out, The Eagles nest is an ideal retreat. its a 15 min drive to South Anchorage for a unique shopping/dining experience. Or a 2 hour drive to world class fishing on the Kenai River or a 30 min drive to Salmon fishing at Bird Creek. There's Hiking/Biking trails in nearby McHugh Creek, including the crystal clear water of Rabbit Lake in Chugach park, enjoy bird watching at Potter marsh. Cabin was a great place to stay centered in our day travel destinations. Gary and Laura we great host. The puppies were fun and we had our last night at dusk a mama Moose and baby Calf at our deck. Highly recommend this Vrbo stay with great views.

The Eagles Nest is about a 30-minute drive outside of Anchorage so guests need their own car to get there. All was fine and as advertised. Bonus was that the owners also breed dogs (kept very quiet at night). There were 7 adorable puppies romping around the yard while we were there -- very cute. The apartment itself is a bit cluttered and could use a bit more cleaning but was comfortable enough. Property owner seems very nice. I recommend the property.

The view is spectacular and Gary was very friendly and responsive to our needs. We enjoyed our stay here. Most of the time we were there it was very peaceful and quiet. Could hear some noises from the owners upstairs on occasion - the TV and dog sounds (they recently had a new litter of puppies so that is not the norm) but overall very nice stay.

We visited Alaska for one week and rented the apartment for the entire time.. super easy check in after arriving quite late at night. The apartment was perfect for myself and my 17 year old nephew. It is well equipped with all you need for a comfortable stay. You can hear people upstairs at times but the hosts are incredibly conscientious… you cannot beat the view.. and the apartment feels like home.. thank you Gary

Our stay here was wonderful and exactly what we had hoped for. A bit of seclusion away from the main streets of Anchorage, the home gives you a fantastic view of the mountain and below - not to mention tons of moose along the roads as you drive in and out of the development. The home had everything we needed for a wonderful 3 nights. We hope to be back one day.

Property is located about 15-20 mins from ANC on mostly paved roads. The location & view are worth the final drive up the mountains to very scenic home & great homeowners (& their 2 dogs-has Daisy had her pups?💕). Easy drive to all surrounding towns & nice to be outside ANC, yet close enough if you want to shop, grab dinner, or get to airport 🤗

The property was only 20 minutes from the airport which was wonderful as our flight got in late. It was easy to find and the check in was smooth. Rental is on the bottom floor of the house so there is a flight of outdoor stairs you have to go down. There was both a coffee pot and a Keurig for those of us that can’t live without it. The view from the porch was incredible!! Mountains as far as you can see! Perfectly clean and comfortable for out 2 nights in Anchorage.

Perfect for adults

Location is out in the country and perfect for peace and beauty. Property is well maintained but smaller than I expected. There is no place to sit to eat other than the couches but it worked for the four of us. It would be too small for children to stretch their legs but for adults it’s a great place to get a good night’s sleep

Such a great location! A little outside of Anchorage in the hills, this spot provides a beautiful view of the inlet. Comfortable beds and extremely friendly, communicative host! We were able to see wildlife right outside our window— our son loved it. He kept looking for moose the rest of the time. Definitely a great stay location!

Greeted by a Momma Moose and her calf as we got it, the home owner was really helpful helping to the basement apartment, a bit of bear sign in the area so heads up, authentic Alaskan experience, wonderful view from the decks.

We enjoyed our stay here. A wonderful view. Very quiet neighborhood. Clean facilities. We would stay here again in a heart beat. We even had a mommy and baby moose visit and have a rest in the back yard. How amazing is that?

We loved our stay. It was a nice cozy little space. The beds were incredibly comfortable!!! And the view from the porch with our morning coffee and while relaxing in the evening was beautiful and exactly what we needed. Clean, wildlife viewing (bears and moose), 10 min outside city. Contrary to other reviews, the road to the property was not an issue. Gravel and 15 mph, but not going to destroy an economy car. Good Communication and easy check in.

Excellent place for our hockey tournament. Drive is a little long, make sure you have all-wheel drive in winter. View at night is incredible. Minimal kitchen but worked for us. Also room didn't appear to have been vacuumed, and sink had toothpaste in it but not a big deal for me. Otherwise excellent.

After a week long stay sad we had to come home. Beautiful winter wonderland view inside and out. A rustic cabin setting with a fireplace and kitchenette. A lovely couple that went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and eventful. A definite must stay if your planning a trip to Anchorage or new by areas. Would stay again and recommend to any of my friends and family that planned to head that way
