About this condo rental
Ocean views and breezes await at "Madrid", a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom second floor oceanfront condo. Just steps to the beach, this unit is located in the William and Mary complex in Carolina Beach. Enjoy a day out at the beach then relax in the evening on the deck overlooking the sea. The living room and kitchen are oceanfront, while both bedrooms are street side. The primary bedroom has a Queen bed, private bathroom and access to the private street side balcony area. The second bedroom is complete with a Queen bed, and the unit also has a sleeper sofa in the living room. Sit outside and breathe in the fresh air on the oceanfront deck which is great for outdoor dining and sunbathing. "Madrid" is a second floor unit with wonderful views of the Atlantic. A private walkover to the beach and an outside shower are located at the rear of the building. There is assigned parking underneath the building for one car and an extra parking space is located in the concrete lot across the street. Enjoy oceanfront views on the popular north end of Carolina Beach, NC at the William and Mary condo complex. Each William and Mary unit offers two bedrooms and is in close proximity to the restaurants, bars, shops, and Carolina Beach Boardwalk. Seldom dies a property match EXACTLY what is listed! This one does! Clean, two bedrooms with two bathrooms that's on the beach. The view is exactly as in the pictures. The walk tk the beach sand is about 3 mins.
The shared walkway over the sand, though, is not ADA compliant and could use some updating.

A place to stay but not much more than that. Beds and couch are dilapidated. Large hole patched in the ceiling in one of the bedrooms. Had two cockroaches during the stay.

The day before we left for our ocean front condo, we were informed that the property next door to our condo had a water leak that effected our condo and we had to find another location to stay.
The place that we reload located to was not ocean front and didn't allow for a short walk to the beach for 2 younger children and a handicapped mother in law.
The location we had to stay at was a wonderful, clean and nice place. I just didn't allow for easy access to the beach for our family.

Overall very good. Would like see a couple of upgrades, living room set and 2nd bedroom TV. Everything else was very clean, organized, comfortable and peaceful. Customer service and check-in were outstanding.

Of the beachfront units we looked at, we decided on W&M because they offered parking for a 2nd vehicle across the street. The view was TREMENDOUS with the porch big enough for a table and chairs, good for meals or just hanging out.. The beach near the unit is wonderful and we took lots of long walks on the beach. October was a bit too chilly for me to swim! We enjoyed the restaurants nearby and walked to them several times. A SeaWitch shirt had to come home with me! The unit interior was great with plenty of room and privacy for the 4 of us. I think the kitchen has all you could want to prepare meals. Our main focus was COFFEE and cold drinks, as we ate out a lot. Grocery stores are within a short drive and there's plenty of touristy stuff to do: Ft Fisher park, breweries, a vibrant historic district downtown, hiking and more. The unit was super clean and I appreciated the way they bundled the fresh linens. The only item I really needed and not supplied was a bit of liquid dish soap, which I always bring with me for a rental.

This was our first time renting in North Carolina.the property was as discribed. Make sure to bring anything you want as spices,coffee,extra toilet paper etc, beach chairs. The unit can use some TLC many sloppy paint drips and paint needs to be updated in the hallway. The cooking pans are in sad shape. We had a couple of maintenance issues and mainteance was there within a half hour and fixed it. Very good service. It would be nice to have the higher type chairs on the patio to view over the railing, the chairs are cheap plastic. Overall the Condo was good the sunrises were great and the view is great. Everyone we inteacted with in the area was great. We would rent again if we go back to Carolina Beach.

Just thought you need to know there were several outlets that don't work, in the kitchen and dining area. And please buy some new pots and pans, the teflon 10 inch skillet is dangerous to use as it is flaking. "PFOA is a risk factor for health conditions like chronic kidney disease, liver disease, thyroid disorders, testicular cancers, low birth weight, and infertility. Most manufacturers assumed that PFOA burns off during the process of manufacture, but traces of PFOA were found in some Teflon-coated cookware."Also, The toilet paper holder was almost falling off the wall. And we saw a couple of roaches and got two spider bites from the street side bedroom. Other than that we had a great time.

Needing time to rest, relax, recharge and spend time with family, I found this to be a perfect spot. I was a little concerned with the mixed reviews when I booked it, but would not hesitate to book it again. Honestly, I sometimes wonder what people are looking for in a vacation rental. If a not perfect paint job on a bathroom vanity, something other than granite countertops, or a little rust on the frame of an oceanfront metal patio table are going to ruin your vacation, then don't stay here. Overall the unit is clean, bright, nicely decorated, and well kept, and for a beachfront unit, the price was great. The location and view are hard to beat. Parking is more than adequate. Bryant Real Estate was super helpful and easy to work with. Very happy with our stay.

Given the pictures and the price, I was expecting a whole lot better than what I walked into. 700 dollars is way too mich for this place. I wonder where the 200 dollars for the cleaning goes be ause it doesn't look like they are doing mich cleaning. The reviews from September last year mention issues that still exist so no one has fixed the door off the track. I was disappointed. I wouldn't mind paying 450 dollars to stay there for the weekend but overall I could have found a cleaner place with much better accommodations for the same price I paid to stay at this out dated, dirty condo. I normally wouldn't mind sparing some comforts to save money, but I spent a good chunk of money to stay here and I don't feel it was a good investment.

I would rate this condo a 1 (only redeeming factor, it is on the water, ocean front great location). Den furniture was filthy and worn completely out (need to be in the dump). Whole condo needs going over and stuff repaired and replaced, painted. Would not recommend.

There were many problems with the Madrid. Master bedroom: screen on sliding door off track; fan only worked on low and was noisy; no batteries in the TV remote, only 2 hangers. Smaller bedroom: bed very soft, only 2 hangers, no handles to open windows, peeling paint on bathroom door, plunger in sink did not work, shower very small, handle on door loose. Kitchen: sink faucet leaks badly in certain positions (back), toaster only toast 1 side; no light in light on stove, dishwasher bottom rack goes off track. Living room: could not get TV to work, CD player broken (would not open); screen on sliding door not working.

That said, a review of this unit is truly dependent upon your personal expectations. Overall, Bryant took care to ensure that the unit was very clean upon our arrival. The décor and furnishings are very dated and worn. Knowing that upfront we brought furniture coverings from home and everything was fine. We have vacationed at Carolina Beach for over 10 years, most of which we paid more for units that were streets back, not oceanfront and we often saw water bugs. During our entire week we DID NOT see one water bug! The unit is conveniently located within walking distance to the Boardwalk and easily accommodated our party of 4. It’s unrealistic to think that you’re getting a 5-star accommodation at the price paid.

Great ocean view. Condo was clean, however, property is older and could use some updates. The floors creaked and you could hear the upstairs people walking about as if it was in the condo itself. Bathrooms definitely could use updates. The bed was uncomfortable. Wish the property had an elevator - up and down 3 flights for older folks was a bit tough.

We read all the previous reviews, and tried to adjust our expectations accordingly. Called Bryant to ask about the condition of the place, and they said there would be nothing "unsafe" about its condition. (so not setting the bar too high)
We ended up checking in the next day rather than at night and that ended up being a good idea because there were several lightbulbs out and the floors made our feet black from just unpacking the first 5 minutes. Coming in at night would have been difficult.
Bryant RE was responsive to our calls--got lightbulbs and someone to mop the floors quickly. They seemed to care.
So was there sand and some staining on the furniture ? yes Were the floor tiles cracked a lot in the hall bathroom without a working door lock? yes. Put a towel over the cracked tiles to make it easier to walk on them. Was the wallpaper and paint peeling? yes Did the vertical blinds in the master bedroom work? No, but we didn't use them or the balcony outside that room anyway.
But was it "unsafe"? No. It was "old" and in need of some basic upkeep, as my daughter put it, but it served our purposes.

We stayed in Unit 21c, Fold out bed was horrible, couch was stained and broken down, 2nd bathroom door locks didnt work correctly, shower was so small, and floor tile was so cracked the floor "crunched". Upon arrival a chair was broken. TV in main area had multiple remotes but we couldnt get anything to work.

The condo was clean and well equipped. However, it could stand to be updated. The stand alone shower is not designed for anyone over 5’3”. The other shower was a little tricky stepping into it.
The outdoor furniture was not comfortable-just plastic chairs.
Couple items were confusing... trash bin location and check out routines. App told us one thing to do with linens while there were different directions left in condo.

Disappointed
I loved the beach for sure. As for the condo I will never stay there again. The floors was not clean. Walking on the floor left my feet black. Silverware drawer was nasty with particles of food inside. I was very disappointed with all the cleaning fees I was charged with to go into a nasty condo.

The chairs on the deck were the cheap. They were tiny too. Bring your own chairs if you are larger than 130 pounds. There was a fine layer of sand over everything including the furniture and mattress pad. Furniture had to be brushed off before sitting on. Trash and recycle bins were missing. Not a personal touch. Decor ho hum. Mattresses really soft. Paint cans in cabinets. No pamphlets, no tv guide. I will complement the kitchen is stocked very well with dishes and pans.

Clean good view
Enjoyed our stay. The residence covers the basic. Parking is kinda cludgy in that we got blocked in a couple of times and had to knock in doors to have a car moved so we could get in/out. Also no blow dryer in the house
