Despite the very poor start we had with the property, the house itself really did have its charms and we did enjoy the stay. The property is a good size and suitable for more than the 2 adults and 1 infant that was with us. We didn't try the fishing and notice some people in reviews state there was no fish, but from the bedroom window each evening you could see many large fish gathering in the lake so they are there.
With exception of our problems at arrival, during the stay when we needed to contact the hosts they were available and provided what was requested. They also provided money for a meal after the problems faced getting the keys, which was a nice gesture and appreciated.
We used the property as a hub when driving around the Cotswold's but didn't check out much of the local area itself. As a base it was really good.
We took advantage of the good weather to have BBQ's most night and only tried the hot tub once but certainly a nice luxury to have.
Certainly more positives rather than negatives from the stay, and with some TLC this place could be amazing.
Keys were not available on arrival, and the host could not be contacted. Many missed calls and messages later they finally provide the code to the security box. Having travelled from the UAE to get there, this made a very long trip even longer before we could relax. Reason provided was technical problem with the booking website, but this shouldn't have stop someone providing the common curtesy of answering a phone (when we repeatedly called) or reply to messages through the booking site. Hours of notice was provided when we arrived at the airport so excuse for this.
When we finally go inside the house it was too hot. Considering it was summer in UK with temperatures in excess of 30Degs each day in the run up to this, not a single window had been left open, so the place was like an oven. Not sure how many days these were closed but really was an extremely poor way to hand over a property. No matter how good we enjoyed the stay after that, this will always be my lasting impression as could easily have been avoided especially when UK doesn't have AC to regulate the temperature quickly.
The property itself is showing signs of age in places and in need of some TLC. The outside decking looks to be screwed down many times to keep it in place with some screws not flush with the wood, so we struggled with our son crawling on it. With so many cobwebs inside and out, a better clean before we arrived would've been good. Understand these can gather easily outside but there was zero attempt to clean anyway nor for cleaning outside furniture. Some pics are provided for this.

Windrush was in a great location situated towards the end of a cul-de-sac, so felt very private. The property felt homely the minute you walked in with lovely decor. Windrush had everything you needed.

The location was great in a beautiful part of the country The Water Park was such a relaxing, peaceful area & the Lodge has everything you would need. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Some of our party didn't like the road noise.

Beautiful comfortable house, spacious and tastefully decorated
My son in law came for the fishing and there were sadly only a few very small fish, not a well maintained/stocked pond. Needs otter gates.
Residential rather than holiday site in my opinion
