Lovely home with a view of the Mississippi. The tasteful holiday decorations gave just the right ambiance for the start of our holiday season! So happy we stayed here for the weekend of a family wedding. Especially enjoyed The State Street Market and the Lodge at the Lovejoy.

We spent 5 nights at this lovely VRBO on Summit Street in Alton. We were in the area to celebrate my dad's 95th birthday. The home was very spacious, nicely decorated, and very clean. Other amenities include a deck off the upstairs bedroom and a nice sized bathroom. The kitchen was well stocked which came in handy when we hosted a small gathering for family members. It is a beautiful location on a brick street across from Riverview Park. It has a great view of the Mississippi River from the upstairs deck and it was fun to watch the river activity. Larry was a great host! We plan to stay here when we return for future family events.

This is the second year of staying in this house for our Gateway MS150 bike ride. My mom and friends love this house. It's wonderfully furnished and very cozy with amazing views of the river off the upper balcony and lovely outdoor area for an evening cocktail. Also an easy walk to downtown Alton! Will be back again next year!

This is a 1900 stone house that is along a brick street near Riverfront Park in Alton, up on the bluffs overlooking the river. The house has a kitchen, a large main living room, bedrooms upstairs, plenty of room for our family of 3. Lots of nice touches, everything was quite comfortable and well-maintained.

We enjoyed our stay. It was on a quiet street with a view of the Mississippi from the wrap around balcony. The house was clean, bed was comfortable and had good water pressure in shower. Host was right next door if we needed anything. Check in and check out was a breeze. Only thing that would have made it better was softer pillows and better internet speed and signal for streaming.

The house is beautiful and very clean. They provide all the amenities you could wish for. The view from the upstairs balcony is stunning. The backyard is has a grill and table and chairs to enjoy your night with family and friends or your morning coffee. My only suggestion to the owner would be if they could please add mini blinds in the living room. I slept on the sofa bed and felt a bit nervous that I could be seen at night. You will truly enjoy your stay you will not be disappointed .

This property was perfect for our mom group getaway. The view from the balcony was stunning and the host was very friendly. The house is beautiful and in a beautiful location. We were able to get out and enjoy the nice weather and have a nice lunch downtown and visit the local shops. The owner provided many amenities and the makeup wipes in the bathroom were an added bonus. The only thing I would change in the listing is that it is a full bath upstairs and only a half bath on the main floor, I was expecting 2 full baths (maybe it was in another review and I overlooked it?). Other than that property was exactly as listed and we already talked about booking again.

This is a wonderful property for a several day stay! The home is just as comfortable and well-appointed as our home, with an amazing view of the Mississippi River. It is located in a nice historic neighborhood of Alton, sequestered at the end of two long residential stretches. It's not an easy walk to downtown Alton, because of numerous steep hills, but it's not far! There are a few nice shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars nearby, and you're close to Grafton, Illinois, which is a nice natural area with a bustling seasonal entertainment district. We were in the area before the season gets hopping, so there wasn't a ton of crowding, but not many entertainment options, either. This location is fairly convenient to St. Louis, and an easy drive. The house itself is 2 main floors. A roomy front room (TV), half bath, and spacious kitchen are on the first floor. A nice seating area (TV) and two spacious bedrooms are on the second floor. It's light and airy, with windows everywhere! There's a 2nd floor wrap-around balcony, as well as lots of outdoor space in the back yard. The owner lives next door, and is a gracious host. He will clearly work to be as attentive or invisible as you need! He was only in contact when contacted first, and very friendly. This is the best VRBO property we've stayed in, and recommended 100% for our type of visit (several days, lots of time in the city).

This Alton home with a Mississippi River view was very clean and comfortable. Loved sitting on the upstairs deck watching the barges go down the river. The neighborhood is charming and peaceful. We would definitely come back again.

My husband and I took a few days for a close-to-home getaway. The house was beautiful and quite comfortable. It had everything we needed, the views were gorgeous, and the Christmas decorations added to the cozy atmosphere. We enjoyed our time in the house as much as we did our time hiking at Pere Marquette, sipping wine at the Grafton Winery, shopping and dining in downtown Alton. We would recommend this house to anyone looking for a comfortable place in the area. We will book it again if we come back to the area!
