Situated in Bahamas, this charming house for $958 per night is a great option for your next break. Welcome to Sandy Hill Beach House! Open the front doors to this stunning 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom beach house (which also has a 1 bedroom, 1 bath guest cottage) and you are greeted by breathtaking views of the turquoise and coral ocean filling the entire room! We are located on the Banks Road, the most sought-after location on Eleuthera, a 3 minute drive from the beautiful and quaint town of Governors Harbour, where you will find everything from grocery stores, gas stations, coffee shops, liquor stores and restaurants which offer great views of picturesque Cupids Cay and the Caribbean. Here you can watch the fishermen bring in their daily catch or simply sit with a wine or coffee and watch the activity of this charming little village. Sandy Hill is decorated in light neutral tones framed with antique wood beams, floor to ceiling custom antiqued wood, and white painted walls which bring the vibrant outdoor colours of the Caribbean to the inside. Floors throughout the home are covered in a beautiful sand coloured tumbled marble. The main house is constructed in 3 pods each connected to the main living area by glass breezeways, allowing for quiet and privacy in the bedroom areas. The north and south pods (wings) of the house each contain a queen size bedroom with a TV, and a bunk room with a double bottom and single top bunk bed. Each of the two wings have a full bath, which the two bedrooms share. All bedrooms have large windows and sliding glass doors with incredible ocean views. They have high vaulted ceilings, ceiling fans, and closets with shelves for easy storage of clothes, and access to a covered porch area with table and chairs. One bathroom has a bathtub with shower and the other a full shower. Both bathrooms have custom made vanities and mirrors, and are bright and modern. The central pod is the main area. It features partial high-vaulted ceilings constructed in wood, and offers a very cozy living space with wall-to-wall glass doors overlooking the ocean. The kitchen has a large island and bar stools and is fully equipped with all the necessities you will find at home. The dining table seats 10 comfortably and is strategically placed so all guests have an ocean view. The sitting room has cozy over-sized sofa and chairs and wall TV. Soft carpeting gives a luxurious feel when relaxing in this area. This area also has a powder room with a washer/dryer. Above the living area is the upstairs master bedroom, which has a king size bed. The master features a balcony with panoramic views up and down the beach and a beautiful sunny en suite bathroom with large shower. The laundry room with new stackable washer and dryer holds all laundry necessities. This room also has cabinets for storage, a bathroom area, and a built in wall safe with key or code entry for safe keeping of valuables. We now have superfast Starlink internet! The one bedroom guest cottage is located on the west side of the house, and features a queen bed and full bath with shower. It is available for an additional charge of $1400 per week, which also pays for 2 extra guests. Sandy Hill Beach House’s large and magnificent outdoor area has a covered patio with a dining area and gas grill, also in tumbled marble continued from the interior, with steps down to a large custom-built cedar deck, comfortable sitting area with sofas, tables and lounges. This outdoor area is set on top of the dune with spectacular views of the ocean and pink sand beach below. A stunning infinity pool which appears to spilling down the sandy hill into the water below will keep you cool and refreshed. The pool can be heated for an optional fee of $600/week. An outdoor shower with hot and cold water is provided. Custom built wooden steps from the outdoor area lead down to the ocean and miles of pink sand. Enjoy our two sea kayaks! A five-minute walk down the beach will bring you to famous Tippy’s restaurant and beach bar. Rates are for up to 8 guests. Add $525/week for each additional guest.

This home is truly as lovely as others have said. Since they've already said that, I'll fill in some details about questions we had prior to leaving home.
We had 14 in our family, six school-age kids, eight adults. We followed Matt's suggestion that we ask The Market Place grocery store (like an old-time IGA and 45 minutes away) to pre-stock a few days of food for us. The online process is very simple. The store concierge will call you with any questions she has about your order. In the comment section, you can request things you don't see on the website. They might have them. Pre-stocking the food was a huge help! We arrived hungry late in the day. Kids didn't want to travel one more minute. They needed to play/swim, not sit in restaurant chairs.
The house has a filled spice rack and has soap/tissue in all the bathrooms. Bring your own shampoo/conditioner. You may --may!-- also find some other helpful "left-behinds" like baggies, foil, cooking oil, sugar, laundry soap, and sunscreen/bug spray. We used up many of the odd ends of bug spray, then left one of our own.
For folks with food allergies/sensitivities: Market Place and Burrows (the tiny local grocery store) both carry gluten-free pasta. Neither has GF waffles or baked products. Neither had any nut butters besides peanut. Both had non-dairy "milks" (almond/soy).
The welcome materials say it's safe to drink the water if you're staying in a house on the municipal water line, but doesn't say if Sandy Hills is on the line. The blue pipes in the front yard indicate that it is on the municipal water line and the owner confirmed it for us. So we stopped cooking with bottled water and used the ice the freezer makes.
There are classic games (like bingo), cards, and a puzzle or two in the ottoman.
There are a few life jackets and some snorkel gear in the bin on the deck. More can be rented/purchased in town. Bring your water shoes. The local prices for those are very high.

We had an amazing stay in Governor's Harbor. It was our first trip to Eleuthera. Sandy Hill was fabulous with our big group. Room for everyone. Everything you need to cook at home, no detail spared. We went out on several day trips to Rainbow Bay, Sapphire Hole and half day excursion. However, the view and outside space at the house is all you need!! Sherry was very responsive and cooked us a fabulous dinner! Matthew from Eleuthera Vacation Rentals was great to work with as well as Denise who both checked in during our stay. Cant' wait to return.

Sandy Hill Beach House was a wonderful location for our family vacation. The house was exactly as described. Both the inside and the outside were spotless. The pictures show the house but don’t capture the true beauty. The views from every room were spectacular but the views from the deck and pool are indescribable. I have never seen so many shades of blue/green in my life. The beach was beautiful and we had it mostly to ourselves. There were 4 nice (Tommy Bahama) beach chairs and 2 very nice beach umbrellas. Also, there were misc snorkels, masks and fins. The walk to Tippy’s was easy, but the food and drinks were only OK, nothing special but the view. The Buccaneer Club was very good. We also used Cocojo to provide drinks, they were wonderful, and I highly recommend them. Matt was great to work with and quick to respond. All in all, it was a great house and we would gladly return.

Sandy Hill is a perfect house for large families and groups. The house is wonderfully designed with separate pods of bedrooms and bathrooms, in addition to a large master bedroom en suite upstairs. And every bedroom has a spectacular view of the ocean, which makes every sunrise worth waking up to experience. The salt water infinity pool is incredible and the private beach is only steps away from the house, so kayaking and snorkeling can be done directly off the beach depending on the wind and waves each day. The small town of Governor’s Harbor is only a short car drive away, but critical for dining and grocery options. The Leon Levy Preserve is well worth the price of admission, just be sure to have appropriate shoes for the hike. Many of the island’s major attractions are a long car drive from Sandy Hill’s central island location. It’s well worth the trip to visit the Sapphire Blue Hole, the Glass Window, and the Queen’s bath. Overall, Sandy Hill exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend it for travelers looking for a relaxing vacation with a heavenly view!

Manager greeted us and made us feel very welcome. Loved all the sitting areas about the property where little groups could hang out and visit. Kitchen has absolutely everything you need to cook meals. Favorite restaurant was La Bougainvillea about 5 minutes down the road. Took a fishing trip one day and caught barracuda and grouper! Grilled at the house and it was delicious! Beach is lovely and the sand is like powdered sugar. Easy walking going either way. Pool was delightful and we spent hours in it just enjoying the sun and the views. Saw dolphins one morning; a real treat! If you think you'd like to stay here book early; the calendar seems to fill up quickly. You will not be disappointed in a stay at Sandy Hill!

Can't say enough about our weeklong stay at Sandy Hill. House was extremely clean and in great order. Plenty of room for everyone. The location is one of the best on the island, plenty of privacy but a 15 minute walk down the beach to Tippys. Sheryll was a great property manager and if u want an authentic Bahamian dinner cooked for ur group while u have a drink on the beach highly recommend her. Pool is simply awesome and the view is great. Can't wait to return.

Perfect!
This was our 8th visit to Eleuthera and this was our favorite rental property. The house was perfect; furnished with everything you would need, nicely and comfortably decorated and it was in the perfect location; close to everything and the most beautiful beach. Location & View was amazing, we unfortunately were unable to enjoy the amenities as advertised on VRBO. We did contact immediately upon arrival, the owner Denise Wilkes of following issues that were not repaired during our stay:
1. Pool Heater
*We informed Denise that our grandkids(4 yrs old & 22 months couldn’t enjoy the pool w/o heated & ocean was too rough for them to swim). We were promised it would be repaired on MON 12/30, didn’t happen, & we had to follow up daily for status. We were also never given the name/contact info or confirmed time someone would come as per rental agreement. When Howard showed up on FRI 1/3, it was a complete surprise to us
*The pool heater was not repaired till FRI 1/3 late afternoon & it only took Howard 5 minutes to flip a switch. Pool would not be fully heated till SAT 1/4 morning now.
2. Outside Shower - both top & bottom shower not working
*Only the Top portion of outside shower was repaired by Howard late FRI 1/3 afternoon. The bottom was not repaired.
Other Challenges encountered:
1. Water Pressure very low downstairs and no hot water in kitchen sink.
*When Howard came on 1/4 - he informed us correct water pumps in house were not set up correctly and fixed.
2. Upstairs water flow in sink/shower/ toilet were rusty for 1st few days.
3. Kitchen Can opener and bottle opener not functional since worn out.
4. Screens were not on any windows in house & were all laying outside garage door.
*We couldn’t have the windows open after 5PM or 10AM due to bugs.

*We were unable to use outdoors at all SAT 1/4 before CKOUT & had to leave early.
Other items that were not as advertised on VRBO:
1. Brand New House - while this house may be newer, it definitely was showing wear/tear with cracked floor tiles
1. Pool Heater
*We informed Denise that our grandkids(4 yrs old & 22 months couldn’t enjoy the pool w/o heated & ocean was too rough for them to swim). We were promised it would be repaired on MON 12/30, didn’t happen, & we had to follow up daily for status. We were also never given the name/contact info or confirmed time someone would come as per rental agreement. When Howard showed up on FRI 1/3, it was a complete surprise to us
*The pool heater was not repaired till FRI 1/3 late afternoon & it only took Howard 5 minutes to flip a switch. Pool would not be fully heated till SAT 1/4 morning now.
2. Outside Shower - both top & bottom shower not working
*Only the Top portion of outside shower was repaired by Howard late FRI 1/3 afternoon. The bottom was not repaired.
Other Challenges encountered:
1. Water Pressure very low downstairs and no hot water in kitchen sink.
*When Howard came on 1/4 - he informed us correct water pumps in house were not set up correctly and fixed.
2. Upstairs water flow in sink/shower/ toilet were rusty for 1st few days.
3. Kitchen Can opener and bottle opener not functional since worn out.
4. Screens were not on any windows in house & were all laying outside garage door.
*We couldn’t have the windows open after 5PM or 10AM due to bugs.

We were a family of 14 celebrating an 80th birthday. The house was beautifully decorated and had the most awesome views!! The beach is so soft, has pink sand and is virtually deserted. Didn't use the pool that much since weather was a little cool but it has a beautiful view as well with the infinity edge. House has everything you need if you want to cook. Very well appointed. Walked down the beach to eat at Tippy's a few times. They have decent food and good bands at night. Also had dinner in town at Bougainvillea which was delicious. They have nice outside seating under a huge tree. Be sure to visit the nature preserve right down the road from villa which you can walk to. They have lots of trails. Took the ferry to Harbor Island for the day to check it out. It was OK. Recommend you spend a day or 1/2 day on a boat tour. We went with Capt. Kid & Sons. Price was very reasonable since we had 12 people on the boat. Got to swim with the pigs, snorkel in area that had lots of fish and coral, checked out a wreck and ended tour on Sand dollar island which is just a huge white sand bar that comes up in the ocean which is pristine. Our Xmas week there was extremely windy the entire time so it was hard to snorkel off our beach since waves were huge every day. Sandy Hill is a perfect place to relax.

We had such an amazing stay at Sandy Hill. Matt was outstanding to communicate with prior to the stay. He was so helpful with recommendations. The housekeeper Sheryl was outstanding. She cooked for us 2 nights and the food was incredible. She also helped with rental cars and things to do on the island. She was so amazing and kind. Everything about Sandy Hill was great. The pictures do not do it justice. We loved every minute of the house and Eleuthera. Remember your bug spray. That was the only negative about the trip. The bugs are insane. Be prepared. We are already planning a return trip. Thank you Denise, Matt, Sheryl, and Sherman for an unforgettable trip.
