Wonderful in every way. The house and property felt like home for 6 retired friends. Home is a word I don't use casually. The lake, the sunsets and so much more made for a great stay. We will return to yhis blessing of a place and kind owners.

Red Pine Lodge was the best experience we have had in 7 years on Lake Vermilion! Fully stocked with everything you could possibly need and very secluded! Kudos to Sarah and Jeff for the amazing cabin and great service. Definitely plan on returning there again!

We spent two great weeks in late August enjoying this lovely cottage with only the loons for company. It was so peaceful. Everything was just as described - three nice bedrooms, two full baths, a wonderful huge dining table that was perfect for a jigsaw puzzle and card games, and a big dock with plenty of room for two boats (one ours and one rented from Life of Riley. The kitchen was the best equipped we’ve ever rented. Everything we reached for was there. Sarah responded lightning fast to our questions before going and Josh from Life of Riley was great too. We caught a huge Northern and lots of Smallies from the dock and the Norwegian Bay area is beautiful. We’ll look forward to returning.

What an amazing property!! All of the amenities of home. Fully stocked and truly beautiful setting. We went with our 2 teenagers and 2 of their friends. Plenty of space for everyone. Wonderful amenities. Ran the trails a couple of times. Used the kayaks, sand toys, fire pit, grill. Enjoyed boating to the “The Landing” for some food and the kids went in to 77 Pier for mini golf twice. Bedding and towels are very nice. Had a truly lovely time and would highly recommend!

Thinking of Red Pine Lodge makes me smile. The property is well appointed, full of amenities, and easy to enjoy. Clean, comfortable, and quiet. It is isolated, but in the best possible way. Get your groceries and supplies in Cook, take the long drive around the lake, park and get your orientation at Life of Riley Resort from Josh, and enjoy! 5 minute boat ride gets you to the property (we rented the owners' pontoon which made it very convenient, it was fueled and waiting for us). the lake is huge, but we found it quiet. We took may boat rides over the week, but only saw the western 20-25% of the lake. Trip over to The Landing and Moosebirds was easy and well worth the trip. Day trip to Ely was easy. Our teenage girls loved the beach and dock area, and front of house and dock face the beautiful sunsets! Could not recommend this property more! Come well supplied and enjoy the solitude!

our family stayed for a week, which included an 8 and 10 year old. Everything was absolutely perfect, the cabin had everything we needed, making for a very nice and comfortable accommodation. The cabin location couldn't be more peaceful, and we had no problem boating in. The kitchen was indeed well stocked with cooking supplies; the great selection of games made for lots of fun and laughs; and the lake has got to be one of the best in MN. The staff at Life of Riley were very helpful and hospitable too. We definitely hope to be back for a future family vacation.

Peaceful serene get away
We had the most amazing time. Red Pine Lodge was beautiful, completely stocked with all the necessities. Just absolutely Perfect! Fishing off the dock was great, caught some keepers. The pontoon met our needs for fishing and travel. The beach was great for sandcastles and exploring. The Life of Riley resort had such great people and very helpful! I'm so happy we came, bummed we didn't stay longer. Definitely will be back.

You know when you envision a perfect Minnesota cabin, this is that cabin. It’s a gem tucked into the red pines. The pine trees are reminiscent of a painting when peering up at the cabin from the water. When you are inside and look out the windows you feel tucked away into the woods. The cabin is in a quiet bay with a sandy beach, with beautiful views of the water. The dock is great for docking your own boat. You will need to take a short boat ride to get to the cabin. We parked at a resort and after we got our boat into the water and it took about 8 minutes to get to the cabin. Our family really loved the privacy. We were worried about not being able to jump in your car right out of the cabin, but it really made it even more restful. We had two 19 year olds and two 16 years olds with us. We were worried they may get bored. But there was a canoe, kayaks, swimming, lots of hiking trails, a fire pit, fishing, outdoor games and boat rides. The beach was a treat to have! The water felt so great on really hot days and it’s so close to the cabin. There also great games, internet and tv for movies if you have a rainy day. The linens were so nice and Beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. If you need a grocery store, it’s about 20 minutes from the resort. I would say Zups would be the market to go to for groceries, they had everything you could need.
The cabin bathrooms are very clean and the rain shower heads are so fun. We have been doing VRBO for 10 years and have stayed in many cabins - but this one is picturesque plus comfortable. It’s a gem!!

What a great place! Remote, but not without all of the amenities. My wife and I went with two of our adult children. The cabin is practically new with great lake views from the main room and master bedroom. We slept with the windows open and woke to our treehouse views, loon calls, and lapping water against the rocks on the shore. Fished, hiked, kayaked, used the grill and the fire pit, a big table for family dinner and games, lots of great reading spaces, and excellent shore orientation for sunsets. WiFi was surprisingly strong.
While the cabin is very modern (so much so that I am even reluctant to call it a "cabin."), it is surprising how far you are from groceries and restocking supplies. So, we were glad that we planned for all of our meals/drinks and came with everything we needed for the 5 nights with one planned dinner for the Landing restaurant about 15 mins by boat from the cabin.
You can only get to the cabin by boat. We rented the pontoon that the family owns and that worked out great. Started every time and ran great, but the fish finder showed that there were a lot more fish than were biting on my line (so it MUST be broken! jk). The folks at Life of Riley Resort were great in getting us oriented and on our way with the boat. It's a big pontoon boat which makes for great fishing and sunset cruises, but some boat skills are required to manage it at the piers and lift.
It is one of those places that as you boat away from dock that you would love to come back to. Again, you are not going to find many places like this. Thanks to the hosts for offering a place like this. Cheers.

The property and lodge are absolutely amazing. Situated in a fairly remote and quiet part of the lake yet the owners have provided all of the amenities for a very comfortable stay. I went with five other fishermen because we could not get to Canada this year. Could not have picked a more beautiful spot. Plenty of room for the six adults. The lodge itself is very comfortable, updated and very well stocked with kitchen supplies etc. The Wi-Fi was excellent. The lot itself is beautiful. Wonderful fire pit with plenty of chairs and miles of beautiful hiking trails right out the back. A nice sandy sheltered beach and although we did not use them the kayaks and canoe were there ready to go. Brand new beautiful boat dock, no problem docking two fishing boats there. The resort across the lake that supports the property was wonderful. Very friendly and hospitable, provided transportation in a boat to get all of our supplies to the property the evening we arrived. This would be a wonderful spot to spend a family vacation, I hope to take my family there sometime soon.

Red pine lodge had everything our family of 7 - ages 20-80 wished for in our north woods vacation - there were plenty of activities on the property as well as quiet places to retreat to soak up nature’s beauty. We used all the boats, trails, went fishing, set up our hammocks, had campfires, foraged for firewood, cooked many meals in the kitchen and on the open fire, Played games, Watched movies- we are leaving feeling relaxed and will definately keep this place in mind for a return visit.Great communication from the owners and easy check in and out. We enjoyed a wonderful week at this lovely cabin. The quiet surroundings were ideal as we could just sit on the rocky shoreline watching and listening to loons, with only an occasional fishing boat or pontoon going by. We enjoyed use of the kayaks, and swimming off the shore was ideal. The kitchen was very well stocked, and it worked well to bring all food/beverages for the week, rather than take the time to boat/drive into town so would highly recommend that. Sleeping was very comfortable. The large game table and the reading nook in the master bedroom, were great spots to retreat on stormy nights. It was just right offering all the comforts in a cozy setting. Hope to return again to this lovely and private cabin.

We had a wonderful time at this very special Lake Vermilion retreat - it's very quiet and secluded. The cabin and its surrounding property has everything you could ask for. We loved the master suite with large sliding door/windows so you could get a nice breeze off the lake and hear the loons at night. Well equipped kitchen. Great fishing right from the dock. Endless wildlife . . . loons, bald eagles, and three beaver lodges an easy kayak/canoe away. Great hiking trails. The Life of Riley staff were a great help getting our boat in and out of the water.

Clean & Comfortable
Red Pine Lodge was the perfect location for our family lake trip this year. The woods are bursting with birdsong, Lake Vermillion is large with many interesting islands, the cabin is CLEAN with the perfect balance between rustic and downright comfy. We made ample use of the kayaks, canoe, rented boat, and the swimming beach at Life of Riley. Norwegian Bay is quiet and peaceful. The only disappointments were the wooded trails behind the cabin were too full of ticks for hiking and biking, and the fish weren’t biting so well, possibly due to the mayflies. Overall, our family of seven had a wonderful stay!

Right Place + Right Time = Right Vacation 😊
We loved our time at Red Lodge on Lake Vermillion- the house is BEAUTIFUL and oh so comfortable. We wanted to disconnect from the world for a few days as a family before sending our kids back to college and was not disappointed. Even though it rained for 2 days, we still took walks in the woods , sat by the campfire and played board games.
Sarah was great to work with throughout the process and Life of Riley Resort took good care of us while we were on site!
We laughed a lot and made great family memories.

Loved the seclusion!
Very nice cabin with comfortable beds, fabulous linens and the kitchen was stocked with quality utensils/cookware. We had a great/relaxing time.
The only thing that I would recommend is to rearrange the way the 2nd boat lift is situated on the dock. Due to the water level being a little low we were unable to use the lift and it left a tight spot at the dock for our boat.
Would definitely recommend staying there!

Wonderful and Peaceful
We greatly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful and peaceful property. The inside space is welcoming, clean, and the views are great. The outside space on the lake is perfection. Our best memories: being on the pontoon, grabbing lunch at The Landing (a boat ride away), catching fish, having bonfires, playing on the beach with our two young boys, relaxing, seeing wildlife (Loons, Bald Eagles, Deer...), kayaking, and being welcomed and helped at the Life of Riley Resort.
The owners were very easy to communicate with. Overall, we had a GREAT, memorable stay!

Our family of five thoroughly enjoyed this secluded beautiful location. All the ammenities of home on a gorgeous and peaceful lake (very quiet on Norwegian Bay). Sarah was easy to work with and accomodating to our needs. Loved kayaking every morning, fishing every day and falling asleep to the loons. Fantastic property!
