This idyllic custom log home is perfect for your vacation retreat, for winter, spring, summer and fall!! Note summer activities include gondola to top of mountain for hiking and mountain biking, as well as chair lift to the 'Grizzly bear refuge'. Close by are fishing, golfing, white water rafting on the Grade 4 rated Kicking Horse river. We are proud to offer our wonderful recreation home, located on the AWESOME ski hill, of Kicking Horse Mountain resort for rent for your short term vacation needs. This great location provides ski in and ski out accommodation for the more adventurous and is also conveniently located near a ski lift. This log based home features outstanding cathedral ceilings, with log beams galore and lots of huge windows to maximize the beautiful surroundings. The main floor features a large fully equipped kitchen and large dining table, and also breakfast bar seating. Main floor also features slate fireplace with gas fire and sitting area. Laundry and washroom also on main floor. Accommodation includes on the upper floor, a large master bedroom with private balcony and with large 4 piece master ensuite. Main bath on upper floor with a second bedroom featuring awesome log bunk beds- queen size bed on base and double above. Also on the upper level, you will find a large open relaxing space and a loft area featuring another bunk bed, double size (also featuring as a day bed- to use with TV/PS3 system) and with single bed above. The basement offers an additional retreat, with a large bedroom with large bright window and a set of double bunk beds. Another bathroom (shower room) and also sitting room/TV room. Amazing views from every window, and outside features a deck , leading to private eight man hot tub surrounded by trees for the perfect end to a great day. This is an ideal location, being just a few minutes walk to the local pub and restaurants, and for those special occasions, take the gondola to the top of the mountain and enjoy the awesome dining experience , 'on top of the world' at the Eagles Eye Restaurant.

Great place for a ski/snowboarding trip.

Comfy cabin with that real "ski cabin" feel, nicely equipped and decorated. It's a 2 min walk to the ski run and then you can ski to the gondola, ski out right to the house off the run. Has a double garage which is nice as well for parking and storing gear. Hot tub is a nice plus! Would definitely come back in the future. Hosts were great, lots of detailed info on property.

we have been going to Kicking Horse for several years but had never stayed at this house before. In the future this will be our first choice. The cabin is very cozy and was beautifully decorated for the holiday season. The beds are very comfortable, the showers have rainwater style heads, the kitchen is open and well stocked with cooking materials. The host was very nice, easy to communicate with, and very accomodating. As long as there is a little bit of snow, this place is a true ski-in ski-out. We can't wait to come back.

Overall, this is a good house and a good setup. We loved the downstairs hangout for the teens with a PS5. This left the main floor for the adults.
The only weird thing that would drop my ratings is that we had to bring our own towels - both for the hot tub and the bathrooms.
Overall a great rental.

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Kicking Horse Retreat Cabin. Mel was a great host...the house was fully equipped with all necessities. We loved the hot tub, the rain shower, and a fully stocked kitchen. The cabin is very nicely decorated which made our experience even better. We would come back here.

What a great house! So comfortable lots of space for our family of four. Wonderful bathrooms and walking distance to the gondola. This house is exactly as advertised and then some. Mel the owner was extremely responsive and wonderful to deal with. If you plan to stay in Golden this house is a great option.

My friends and family had a wonderful time staying at this home and playing golf at the Golden golf club. We would definitely stay here again if we do another golf trip!

This is the second time our family stayed in this beautiful home and it didn’t disappoint. The location is so perfect for getting to the lower gondola in the morning and returning for a lunch and then getting back out to the hill for the afternoon ski. The home is accessible off the Pioneer chair lift and a small trail that basically goes right to the house. The home is super clean and very well looked after. My three son’s totally enjoyed the hot tub after shreading pow all day. Dealing with the owner Mel is a snap and she will respond very quickly. I would highly recommend anyone who wants to stay on the hill to give this home a try.

A beautiful spacious chalet located in a prime spot close to the hill. Well stocked with everything you would need for your trip. It was the little touches that made it special.

Amazing house at the base of Kicking Horse ski area. True ski-in, ski-out. Mel is probably the best VRBO host I have dealt with. Our ski group had some logistical difficulties and Mel was able to accommodate us and save our ski trip. Highly recommended!

A lovely Adobe that emanates what ski culture is all about. Friendship, coziness, rest, exercise, food, giggles, and memories.
The Danes have a word for this. Hygge. (I’m of Dane decent).

A great place to stay with lots of beds and a very open kitchen, dining and living room great for hanging out.
One thing I would say is make sure your party knows who they can share a sleeping space with. As many of the beds are in one part or open areas.
Over all a great place and I would definitely return/recommend!

Great place with lots of activities very close by. 15 mins to the golf course, 20 mins to whitewater rafting, 15 mins to town center.

Had an amazing experience at the cabin. It was the perfect size and it was beautiful on the inside and out. We spent our nights here after long hikes and day trips. I would definitely recommend this place to others who are looking to stay in the Golden area.

This was an excellent place for us to stay with our extended family. The proximity to Kicking Horse Resort and all that the area had to offer was fantastic. A well stocked kitchen and very comfortable accommodation. Lot's of beds for everybody.

The property is very beautiful and comes with everything you need to enjoy your vacation. The location up at the kicking horse resort is also excellent and close by to all ranges of activities. Appliances in the kitchen are also top of the line making cooking and preparing food a breeze. I would recommend this place to anyone I know!

I was beyond happy with my stay at mels ski getaway. The house was beautiful, clean, and perfect vibes for a ski weekend. We were able to ski off the hill right to the doorstep and then jump in the hot tub. Mel was also super accommodating with a heat issue that unfortunately happened before our arrival and did everything she could to make our trip still happen. Kicking horse is also an immaculate hill, my new favourite, so I would recommend this place to anyone!

This house we stayed at was perfect and so close to the ski hill. It was very comfortable for 10 adults and Mel went out of her way to make us feel really welcome for our nights stay at her lovely property.
Will definitely stay here again if skiing at Kicking horse resort and will recommend to friends.

We had an amazing time staying here! There was plenty of room for the six of us and the owners provided incredibly thoughtful items throughout the home that made our stay so much easier than other accommodations have in the past. Communication between our party and the owners was always prompt and polite, allowing us to feel comfortable while we were there. I absolutely recommend this property to anyone looking for a beautiful way to experience kicking horse mountain. We will be back indefinitely!

I organized a ski trip for 11 guys and this house was great. The living room and kitchen are spacious, there is plenty of parking available, and the hot tub comfortably fits 8 people. The decor is eclectic and cozy; I especially liked the elk and deer heads. It is a short (5 minute) walk to the ski trail that effortlessly takes you down to the base of the gondola (if you are a skier; the snowboarders had to walk a little). The ski-in for Purcell Woods comes in right across the street, so it is a breeze to get back at the end of the day.
