Kirk is a fourth-generation Washingtonian whose family has lived on Capitol Hill since the late 1800s, and where he continues to live today with his wife and two children. Kirk's Great-Grandmother, Margaret, purchased this 1890 Victorian home In 1905 to entice one of her two daughters to raise her own family in the neighborhood. Kirk's Great Aunt, Nell, and her husband, John, raised their 12 children in this home. In 2008 at the behest of Kirk's 82-year-old cousin, Kirk's family purchased the house from relatives who had owned or lived in the house since 1905, and then they spent over two years meticulously restoring and renovating the home, blending old-world Victorian charm and ambiance with new world appliances and technology. Today, Kirk's family, now a fifth generation of Washingtonians, are honored to offer you the opportunity to experience residential living in the newly updated guesthouse, right in the heart of our Nation's Capitol, at the Historic Eastern Market on Capitol Hill!

Kirk made the visit seamless. Excellent location, only used public transportation, except taxi to and from train station due to luggage. Very comfortable and quiet neighborhood.

Location! Location! Location! Being a block from the Metro station and surrounded by restaurants, shops, and a Trader Joe’s made this stay easy, efficient and comfortable. Communication was smooth and apartment was well appointed and comfortable. Definitely will stay here again.

This is a beautiful space that is exactly as advertised! We had a wonderful time in DC and this space made it feel like home. Communication from the owner was open, informative and very pleasant. The space is literally half a block from the metro and in a safe location. We were able to park on the street right in front of the building and did not move our car throughout our entire stay. The space was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The washer and dryer were a great bonus amenity. We had a lovely time and really enjoyed staying here. We would definitely recommend the space and host. We hope to be able to return in the future.

We had a fabulous time in this house - kitchen was updated with all we needed, there was a washer & drier in the unit and the bed was super comfortable. As a plus, the water pressure was amazing and the high ceilings gave a wonderful sense of lightness and space. It was so close to the metro we didn't have to drive anywhere, which was a big plus. Our advance communication with Kirk was so thorough (including a page long email with ideas of where to go in DC) that we didn't need to contact him at all while staying there. We'll definitely book here again for our next trip to DC.

With all of the rentals in DC, you never know what you might get, this apartment did not disappoint. I worked on the hill for a week and Eastern Market Suites was a gem. The apt was clean and nicely renovated with high end appliances, but still had the nostalgia of the old brown stone houses. It was a nice 18 minute walk to Hill, great restaurants were close by. Kurt was a fantastic host. The queen bed was comfortable with nice linens. All the little touches made this a five star rental.

In terms of location and amenities, this property is an excellent choice for tourists planning to visit the Smithsonian Museums and other sites on or near the National Mall.

The property was exactly as described, and it worked perfectly for the two of us. The check-in process was easy and smooth with detailed info also provided for the apartment itself and in the vicinity. Kirk responded to any questions we had prior to and during our stay, and he was always kind. We liked the very short walks over to 8th Street and Eastern Market area for restaurants. We felt safe throughout our stay, but we would suggest using ride share if needing to go further than the nearby 8th street restaurants after dark. (Perhaps we just saw some people out late on the street at the nearby park that were just “celebrating” over the holiday weekend.) We would stay here again if back in the area.

I loved everything about this property. I stayed there for three nights with my two adult children so we could visit monuments, museums, etc. The town house was beautiful and very well maintained. The neighborhood was lovely and quiet. Once we learned how to fully utilize the Metro we were able to explore many areas and landmarks in DC. I did not move my car once I got a parking spot. I had a bit of a difficult time getting one when we arrived on a Friday night and I was afraid to leave in my car and return to not having a parking place. That was fine with me though. I hadn't planned on driving while in DC anyway. I would definitely stay here again. It had a nice home-like quality and we were very comfortable. I could easily fix yummy food we had purchased from the Eastern Market. The market is fantastic. The entire neighborhood is wonderful for just walking and checking out the shops and restaurants. This was the first stop on a two-week road trip so it was also beneficial to have a washer and dryer so we didn't have to pack as many clothes. I also enjoyed the back deck while we had a bit of a downpour one day.

This property was convenient to just about everything we wanted to do. It was a block from the metro station so it made getting anywhere very easy. It was comfortable to be there with our two adult children in our down time. Kirk was great and we will stay here again on our next trip to DC.

Capitol Hill gem
This was the perfect place for our Capitol Hill stay. It was a different experience during the pandemic as the City's activities were shut down. Just the same, it is within walking distance to all that Capitol Hill has to offer as well as Eastern Market and the Metro. I loved the fact that it is a quaint traditional home with original floors, but updated with everything we needed. I would happily stay there again.

I canceled this trip 2 weeks in advance due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. I received a full refund from the owner. I have had no response from VRBO. I purchased trip insurance. Not sure why VRBO won't respond. Very happy with the owner! Very unhappy with VRBO!

The location was excellent - 1/2 block from a Metro
Station (Eastern Market), grocery store (Trader Joes), drug store (CVS) and other businesses. One to two blocks from Eastern Market and 8th St. restaurant row. Despite its proximity to busy Pennsylvania Ave. the property was quiet and street was peaceful and scenic.

The place is great. Close to Eastern Market Metro, Trader Joe, shops... The living room is great to hang out and then makes a good bedroom too. Kirt was very helpful and super responsive. You will not regret staying here.

Great place to stay
This property is perfect for two people. Comfortable, well-equipped, and perfectly located. Tons of restaurants, half a block from a Metro station, one block from Eastern Market, and an easy walk (a mile or so) to the Capital/National Mall. Kirk was a wonderful host. He helped with luggage storage both before and after our stay.

I think the best part of this property was Kirk. He was very attentive, nice, professional, and communicative. When I came in early, he allowed me to store my luggage in another on site property so I didn’t have to lug it around and could actually enjoy my trip right from the start. He then texted me as soon as my unit was ready and had already moved my luggage for me👍
It was also only 7 blocks walk from the Capitol Building, a half block to the Metro (amazing transportation system), and had several restaurants right around the corner.

A great place in a great location
An extremely nice suite in a great location. The unit has been restored to it past glory using much original wood and adding premium modern conveniences. The location is perfect for visiting the Capital and the National Mall with many fine restaurants just around the block.

Perfect location for us, great host
The location was amazing, and the property was the perfect size for our family (2 adults, 1 child). Everything was really clean when we got there and it was stocked with all the basics. We will definitely try to book the same apartment on our next trip to DC. Kirk was super friendly and very helpful. We couldn't have asked for a better situation.
