Fairly basic lodgings with no big complaints. It had everything we needed for our 3 night stay, and was quite clean. Everything was provided and I was pleased to see some smaller details were taken care of, such as bottled water and some UHT milk in the fridge, a bit of wood to feed into the Coonara fireplace, body wash and shampoo in the shower (we brought our own anyway), nice TV with good sound and a Playstation 3 in the kids room (our son had his Switch anyway), comfy recliner chairs and plenty of prep space in the kitchen. Setting up and playing table tennis on the kitchen island, while listening to a vinyl record of classic Irish songs was fun!Quiet area, with lots of trees for wind protection and birds to watch from the back patio. Despite getting chilly outside at night, it held the heat well; just don't walk barefoot or you'll soon feel the cold concrete slab under the carpet! On request, we were able to have a slightly later checkout too. Venus Bay is a lovely little area and a short 30 min drive to Inverloch. The only real issue we had was phone reception, and although we are with Aldi Mobile (which uses Telstra Wholesale network) we had zero bars and terrible data speeds. This might be a safety issue if a phone call can't get through and would recommend either having a Telstra mobile, your own mobile Wi-Fi hotspot hoisted on a tall pole or that the accommodation supply Wi-Fi for it's guests. If you can survive without reliable internet then this place is great.

The perfect spot if you want to get away from it all. The property is very simple but has most of what you’ll need. We did need to supply our own hand soap, shower wash and bin bags so make sure you pack those or you can pick them up from the local shops. There is a fireplace and lots of firewood which is amazing on those cool nights. The property is walking distance to the beach and it is absolutely gorgeous down there. One key thing to note is the property does not have phone reception which actually turned out to be a blessing, allowing us to get completely off grid but does mean you will need to be prepared with books, games and DVDs (if you have them!). You can get phone reception by leaving the house.
