We had the most exquisite and unique breakfast and dinner experiences! We were both very impressed and honestly mind blown from the level of detail and thought that went into the visual presentation and plating of the food, and the flavours and textures!
Staying at this ryokan was the highlight of our 3 week Japan trip!
The rooms were large, comfortable and clean.
They offered the most comfortable pajamas and free use of their Yukata. We really emersed ourselves into their culture by wearing this around the ryokan.
The private Onsen was not hard to 'unofficially reserve'. Just pick your times, you may need to wait a little, but my goodness it was SO SO WORTH IT!!!
Take into consideration 20 minute walk from the main bus stop to the ryokan, however the walk came with some picturesque views of Shirakawago. There is a shuttle bus offered by ryokan for travelling into the main town in the morning upon checkout, or if you are staying the day.
Only down side, is we wished we stayed longer.

Clean. Amazing view of mountains and lakes. Helpful staff, fluent in English. Private onsen for us who were not comfortable with public onsen yet. Free ramen every night. Free popsicle which was great for after onsen. Food was wide spread, catered to our dietary restrictions too. just that we might not be very used to the Japanese food.
Nothing. Maybe just a little far from the station by walking but they have sufficient amount of shuttle bus to bring us out to the station

Clean but expensive.
Terribly infelexible dinner arrangement - my partner could not eat at the restaurant because they refuse to offer gluten free food. Many of the courses that I ate were gluten free and they could have made some adjustment for him.
A very disappointing experience because of their lack of flexibility to cater for allergies. Do not recommend.

We enjoyed the onsen
First off please note the property is not actually located in Shirakawa Go Village / it is a half an hour walk or a bus ride to the actual village. The hotel is located practically on the main road in which buses regularly enter into Shirakawa.
This hotel is EXTREMELY overpriced, this was my partner and I’s most expensive hotel we booked for our 3 week holiday to Japan yet by far the let down. I understand they are limited with resources being more rural but it was quite terrible at times. All restaurants in the actual Shirakawa go village close at 3pm and the nearest shop is about a 20 minute walk away (for us in heavy snow). The hotel know you don’t have another choice as to where to eat so dinner is a steep $88 and breakfast $22 (super expensive for Japan). This doesn’t include alcohol or tea or coffee (any drink with that). The food is all traditional Japanese and extremely below average for Japan. Tiny portions and super low quality food, we hardly ate anything our whole stay and would instead make frequent trips to the convenience store (20 mins walk). Please note also hotel sneaks in a ‘bath tax’ for use of the onsen regardless of if you used it or not!
The service was terrible. I’m unsure if it is because we are western, or if it was all assumed knowledge or a language barrier but the staff were extremely uncommunicative. We struggled to figure out things and use ammenities. Nothing was communicated to us unless we asked staff, the hotel shuttle (we didn’t know one existed), bus times, pillows, ammenities room etc. When messaging hotel before arrival to ask how we got to the hotel we received no response which resulted in us waiting around at Shirakawa go bus station for an hour as well as asking numerous people until we figured out the bus that had done 3 round trips by then was the hotels.
On top of this when asking to opt into breakfast on one morning we were charged for 2 mornings.

Location was absolutely fantastic and only a short drive to the Shirakawago heritage sites. The onsens were also lovely and the surroundings were quite special. Rooms were spacious and comfortable and we had a great view from the room. All the ryokan esque facilities (lounge wear, free beverages etc) all topped it off. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.
We were quite full from a heavy lunch nearby so couldn't justify the multi course ryokan banquet. Because of this dinner options are extremely limited and we ended up just grabbing a few things from the nearby combini. Not a deal breaker.

We really enjoyed our experience at Onyado Yonousho! The room had an amazing size and had a beatiful view on the river with the snow falling. the facility is pretty big and has many rooms with additional activities
Probably if you stay just one night you do not need to reserve the private onsen as it is difficult to access to it if there are many visitors in town

Nestled in the heart of Japan's scenic beauty, Onyado Yuinosho offers an unforgettable escape. The picturesque surroundings, traditional ambiance, and modern comforts make it a haven of tranquility.
Rooms seamlessly blend authentic Japanese design with luxury, offering breathtaking views and private onsen baths. The kaiseki meals, served for breakfast and dinner, are culinary masterpieces, showcasing seasonal ingredients with meticulous presentation.
wish could have stayed there for few more nights

Good breakfast with nice view.
The timing of the shuttle bus to and fro the main town is very limited and restrictive. It should run more frequently. There is no shuttle bus to get to the hotel before 3pm or after 6pm.

All meals were delicately prepared, well set, and delicious, the room is clean, spacious and comfortable, and the great mountain view is such as good surprise/bonus! The shuttle to the village is also very convenient!
It would be better if all staff can speak a little more English

Breakfast was really good.
They need to have a shuttle that goes to and from the town of Shirakawago. It’s a very long walk and their shuttle service is very limited and only one way. They should change that.

We liked the dinner and our bed.
Location was terrible. 30 min walk from the old town of Shirakawago next to the road. Night walking to the old town was impossible. We had to stay in a hotel without any garden to enjoy!!! It was way over priced for what we had. We paid 60.000 yen for one night but still after check out we had to pay onsin tax!!! If you want a yukata, you have to rent it!!! We didn't like breakfast because it was mostly pickles.

Fabulous location.
Large rooms.
Plenty of 'extras'.
Too hot - described as having air- con with individual controls in the room but actually set centrally and 24° is too hot to sleep. Advised to open the window despite signs saying there were bugs and keep them closed whenever possible
If you want a meal make sure you book - arrived to be told restaurant was full for both dinner and breakfast. As it turns out probably got a better meal at the restaurant suggested.

This place is absolutely awesome Free popsicles, free yakult, breakfast included, free ramen between 10pm and 11pm, free private onsen bath. Free yukata rental. Complementary drop-off and collection service to the bus stop in Shirakawago. Very responsive to messages. Only thing to note, pick up from bus station starts at 2pm
Dinner reservations for the inhouse restaurant was completely booked out and only other restaurant was a 15 minute walk away in the dark. Luckily they agreed to provide drop off and pick up from the restaurant. Great service!

We stayed two nights, with meals. The meals were excellent and they were very accomodating to my 4-year-old! One of the best child meals I've seen! The rooms were spacious and well-maintained. The onsen facilities were also excellent. Overall, a wonderful stay.

Very nice decor, super restful, many things to do and ways to relax. Staff were nice. Also the shuttle is convenient, just make sure to ask about the hours and plan around it.
Need to plan around shuttle time which is not that bad but need to be taken into account.
Also the food is well presented and plentiful, but some of the fish could be fresher or better prepared.

The room was very spacious and the beds very comfortable. The onsen is amazing and they offer coffee/drinks/late night noodles, which were very much appreciated. The shuttle service in the morning to the bus terminal is very convenient.
The location is a bit far from the bus terminal, but it is only a 20 minutes walk with light luggages. It is pricey, but definitely worth it for one night

The facilities, in general, were great. Very new (or well maintained), everything was tatami, super clean, good smell. In general the staff was quite nice, except the receptionist that welcomed us.
Even though the hotel is quite far, they have a pick up minibus from the Shirakawa bus station starting at 3pm (and the other way around in the mornings).
The onsens were great, especially the public ones. Wow! The private ones were also really nice, in the open air.
The food was incredible, kaiseki for dinner and breakfast. Super tasty.
The room was big and very clean. The bathroom was also very nice, especially the shower, with a wooden set up.
Although it was very expensive, it was a good experience!
The inflexibility to choose at what time you can have dinner or breakfast. We arrived and we had no choice but to have dinner at 5.30pm and breakfast at 8.45am. Although we asked nicely, we faced a strong "no" from the person in reception, almost rude.
The location is.. far, very far from the old Shirakawago village. They say it's a ~25min walk but it's walking on a busy road, so kind of dangerous.

Shuttle bus to and from the inn is convenient. Food is amazing and the amount of amenities are wonderful. View from the room also outstanding.
Meal times once they are set at check-in cannot be changed. We had to forgo a breakfast that was paid for because our schedule needed an earlier checkout than anticipated.

The Hollywood suite for four people was a good size that came with a sofa and chairs to hang out. The public bath was large enough. Members of the staff were nice and efficient. I want to one back here again sometime in the future.
The price was slightly higher than what I initially wanted to pay. But this town itself is small and does not have that many choices of hotels to choose from.

2 private onsens, free dinner (hot soba), comfy and spacious rooms.
You can choose the yukata design you like the best.
Free shuttle bus from the hotel to the main bus stop (Shirakawa-go).
20-25 min away (walking) from the minka houses, located at the furthest and ugliest part of town.
You need to ask for dietary options for breakfast way before the check-in, since the staff is polite but not accomodating.
