Modern facilities, lots of thoughtful extras, yukatas and loungewear provided, amazing restaurant, fabulous onsen, very close to Gassho village.

The location is beyond walking distance from the village center, but the hotel provides a shuttle bus to get you back and forth.
The hotel is extremely kid friendly with games and prizes in the afternoon, popsicles and other snacks, an origami and game room, and yukata for little sizes.
The staff are very helpful and friendly.
The onsets were child friendly and not crowded.
The set meal breakfasts were sometimes repetitive and very salty.

The hotel itself is very nice, comfortable and in a beautiful location. The onsen was a great experience, and I particularly appreciated the complimentary ramen served from 10–11 PM. It was a very welcome touch, especially considering how limited the food options are in the area at night.
The communication regarding meals was very disappointing.
I booked the hotel only one day before my stay. At check-in, I was offered breakfast but initially declined because I assumed I would be able to find food in the village. Nobody explained that breakfast was reservation-only, that places were limited, or that it could become fully booked.
After going into the village in the evening, I discovered that there were essentially no options available for dinner. I returned to the hotel at around 9:30 PM hoping to eat there, but the restaurant was already closed. I had not been informed of the restaurant’s opening hours at check-in.
At 9:30 PM, I also asked reception to add breakfast for the following morning. Despite having been offered it only around three hours earlier, I was told that it was already fully booked. The following morning I asked again at the restaurant and was told that breakfast was only available with a reservation.
I find it very surprising that, as a hotel guest willing to pay for breakfast, I could not be accommodated after requesting it the evening before.
I understand that restaurants have opening hours and that breakfast capacity may be limited. However, in such an isolated location, where alternative places to eat are extremely limited, guests should be clearly informed at check-in about restaurant hours and that breakfast requires a reservation and may sell out.
Had this been explained when I checked in, I would obviously have booked breakfast immediately. It was a frustrating situation that could easily have been avoided with better communication.
