Location was very good. The rooms were clean, bathroom was a fantastic size.
We stayed in a moderate double. Room was immaculate but just a little tight size wise.

Very spacious room with comfortable beds, seating area. Hotel was in a great location close to Toyama station and tram network. Easy access to major attractions and good selection of restaurants near by. Lovely breakfast buffet of western and Japanese food. Great value for money.

The location is one of the best in downtown Toyama. There is a 24/7 convenience store downstairs. The optional breakfast costs 2200 JPY but it’s worth it. The bathroom is rather spacious compared to other same-level Japanese hotels.
The check in experience was absolutely terrible. For contexts, in Japan, the room rate depends on persons of occupation, which I am fully aware of. I booked a room for double occupancy; however, the front desk insisted that their system indicated I booked for single occupancy. I showed them my order confirmation on Booking.com, but they refused to honor that. I ended up wasting a half hour arguing with them and then paying them 9600 JPY for the additional guest (plus breakfast) for three nights.
The next day, they proactively called our room and admitted that they were mistaken and would refund that 9600 JPY. As much as I appreciate their honesty, I think this experience just proves that how miserable it can be when you book on Booking.com.
Additionally, the front desk told me that there is only one kind of room type, despite that I booked a “larger” room on Booking.com.
The bottom line is, at your own risk you are thinking to book for a double occupancy room in Japan via Booking.com. Think. Twice.
